This game is hot garbage. Everything feels sluggish and weak. Most of the upgrades make you worse, several of them make the game totally unplayable. If you like slowly sliding balls at an enemy for 12 minutes until his health bar hits zero, this is the game for you.

Игра 'Assault on the Necrospire' – добротно сделанный tower defense, который радует своей ностальгической пиксельной графикой и динамичным геймплеем.
iffy on my vote. it is a $5 game. get this on sale. it does become a little easy once you get a feel after a few runs. classes are just starting with different items, nothing too crazy. trading safety for item (relic) rarity is nice. game DOES NOT SAVE IF YOU EXIT. i repeat GAME DOES NOT SAVE. so i do have some idle hours in this game. graphics are alright. controls are ok, the swipe-wand-deflect-projectiles move activates a little late, takes some getting used to. items are generally well balanced. spiders suuuuuck. overall 7/10 good in-between game when the major titles feel a little burnt out. there is one glitch in later levels, if you get hit with a miniboss's clusterbomb, you might be expelled from room boundaries. there is a fix; you need to walk (yes out of bounds) to the exit from the room, where you'd expect the collision detection is.
"Assault on the Necrospire" is a badly made, contentless, pointless 2D top down brawler with "roguelike" dungeon bashes as the primary theme. There's a welcome set of upgrades that you won't be bothered earning because the combat is bland, and the endless procgen is repetitive to death after 5 minutes. This was a huge flop on Steam... to the point that the game itself isn't as interesting as the eye watering price the developer really thought people would give him for this garbage. This features really godawful pixelcrap "art" instead of real graphics. It's hard to say if this was because the developer didn't have the skill to do the job of creating 3D visuals, or couldn't afford to hire someone who does, but it also doesn't matter. What matters is that this looks much worse than most other games because of that decision, and that's a major deterrent to gamers. Games like Terraria and Stardew Valley succeeded despite the bad graphics, not because of them. The developer chose not to do the job of a real game developer and create meaningful bespoke levels, narrative based gameplay progression and so on. Instead, they decided that "Procgen IS content!" and lazily tried to use procgen algorithms to create infinite, samey, repetitive, soulless levels, because that's a lot less work. As a result of this poor decision, the game gets tired and repetitive almost immediately. Developers must learn that procgen is a terrible substitute for creating real content. It should not be used as "ez-mode" for content creation, as the developer tried to do here. This game is fairly dated at 8 years old... and even back then it looked old and busted compared to contemporary, professionally made 3D games of the same period. It looked bad then, it looks worse now. Now on to pricing and value for gamers. There's no initial download price, but the developer was charging $13 USD for this. Price barriers, especially on low quality products, can be a direct cause of failure. It seems like a nice gesture for the game to have no up-front cost anymore, but it also tells us that the game wasn't good enough to succeed as a paid product. This is also a bit of a slap in the face to anyone who showed enough questionable judgement to pay money for this... nobody got refunded. In terms of public reception, this failed. There's over 130 million unique gamers visiting Steam every month. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 6 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Since free games don't contribute to your game collector badge and other profile stuff, is this a worthwhile addition to your Steam library? I think you should give this one a miss. Although it's free, your time and storage are valuable resources, and the market is filled with superior options.

Nice title for a free game, go check it out!
The controls just don't mesh with my brain. Not being able to rebind the controls for the controller makes this game mostly unplayable for me. Yes, there are keyboard controls as an option, but if you have a controller plugged in there's not an option to use the keyboard instead, nor a way to swap control settings from within the game. The game looks fun, but I just can't play it.
