Ashes of Holloway Bay

Not my normal go to kind of game, but thoroughly enjoyed this game. Was extremely interesting going through all the evidence and information collated. overall around 90 minutes to crack this one, but the last 20 or so was trying to work out the password needed ;) Overall really gripping, good fun and hope more case files come in time. Would be cool if another case could be developed off the back of this, as it seems to be an area with some very odd characters.

I had a lot of fun going through this! All the evidence and the UI were laid out so nicely, and I loved having the spot for taking notes always on screen for me. The mystery was fun to go through. I'm still not sure if I'm fully satisfied with who the murderer ended up being. [spoiler] I personally thought the land lady was not eliminated as a suspect due to the fire insurance policy she took out on the property. In the policy, it said she would not get the insurance payout from arson, BUT only if it was shown the policy holder, the tenant, or someone the policy holder knew was going to commit the arson had done it. So, if I read things correctly, that means she WOULD get the payout in the case of arson, given it was not proven she had been involved in the crime in some way. Thus, from my perspective she had the biggest motive to start the fire if she thought she could get away with it. She had no logical reason to take out a new insurance policy she could not afford right before planning to sell the property. And, the end game said the only person who didn't know the family had ended up not going away was the culprit. But, unless I missed something, the land lady ALSO did not know they had stayed home. So, I walked away feeling a little unsatisfied with the true solution. I just needed to rant a bit because some of the logic did seem off for me personally. [/spoiler] But it was a great mystery to work through regardless, so I hope to see more of these!

Very short, dont pay anything near full price for it! Still interesting, not difficult, but absorbing. It's all reading, very straightforward. I wish there had been an actual investigation data base where you can search for information.
