Ascent is a laughably bad 2D retro pixel/monochrome platformer dumped on Steam as a cash grab by known asset flip scammers, khukhrovr. It's slapped together with Unity, probably from copying+pasting a 2D platformer template. As the screenshots show, the game assets are lazy, poorly done, and this is right on par with the poor control handling, weak level design, shallow gameplay, and of course locked resolution and controls, hallmarks of lazy game developers everywhere. As is the typical mode of operation with asset flip scammers, this was dumped into cheap game bundles at launch and has the ridiculous cash grab price of $11 USD for retro pixel garbage. An important note: khukhrovr are known asset flippers and have previously taken other developers work and put it on Steam in an attempt to scam gamers and get paid for someone else's effort. An example of khukhrovr doing this is AirFighter, which is really "[url=https://assetstore.unity.com/packages/templates/systems/air-strike-starter-kit-13421]Air Strike Starter Kit[/url]", written by the actual developers, Hardworker Studio. Also, Rolling Car, which is really "[url=https://assetstore.unity.com/packages/templates/packs/circle-crash-88702]Circle Crash[/url]", developed by SgLib Games. Asset flips are harmful to the gaming industry. They're nothing but cash grabs, and they harm genuine indie developers by reducing their visibility on Steam. They make it harder for gamers to find decent games made by genuine game developers. Because this game has all the same low quality as an asset flip, as well as the other problems with it, it's impossible to recommend.

Same quality and gameplay as a flash game from 2010 for 12 dollars. Sad!

Ta gra to najgorsza platformówka, jaką kiedykolwiek widziałem za tę cenę. Da się ją przejść w 15 minut, nie prezentuje żadnych ciekawych mechanik, które byłyby warte tej ceny, jej fabuła jest uboga i da się ją streścić w jednym zdaniu (czego jednak nie zrobię, bo mam swoje zasady co do spoilerów, nawet w stosunku do NAJGORSZEJ FABUŁY, JAKĄ KIEDYKOLWIEK WIDZIAŁEM!), a jej hitboxy są tak zepsute, że zwiększają czas gry ponad dwukrotnie, a frustrację gracza trzykrotnie. Dodatkowo w tle gra tylko jedna piosenka, niezależnie od sytuacji czy poziomu, która z początku jest nawet miła, ale po 10 minutach zaczyna po prostu irytować. Jak napisałem tę recenzję, to zauważyłem, że wszyscy inni piszą tylko, jaka ona jest świetna, więc sprawdziłem, czy czegoś nie przegapiłem, skacząc w każdą dziurę, jaką mogłem itd., i co? Nic nie ma! Nie wiem, może grałem w inną grę, ale to nie tyle nie jest warte 40 zł, ale po prostu nie jest warte nic! Nie polecam z całego serca.
