this game has had lots of updates and it definitely lived up to my exspectations for an early access game and thats good not bad
Incredible game with out of this world potential. I dont write reviews but this game is insanely good in both gameplay and h-scenes, making you work for them while still being balanced in the time it takes. Hoping to see availability for MacBook soon.
genuinely hope this game grows larger, great idea and i love the lovecraft horror. my only gripe is the days pass by way to quickly, and growing my ♥♥♥♥ from a 2 incher to a 3 incher shouldnt really inspire suspicion. no ♥♥♥♥ should be suspect unless its over 7-8 inches.
Artifact, developed and published by Mesmerizers, is an unconventional sandbox visual novel that leans heavily into systemic design rather than traditional storytelling. Instead of guiding players through a clearly structured narrative, it drops them into a loosely defined world and asks them to experiment, adapt, and gradually uncover how its mechanics function. The result is a game that feels more like a simulation of interconnected systems than a typical visual novel, where progression is driven by player discovery rather than scripted events. At the center of the experience is a possession-based mechanic that allows players to inhabit different hosts and interact with the world through them. Each host comes with its own capabilities and limitations, encouraging players to think strategically about how and when to switch between them. This system creates a flexible framework for problem-solving, where there is rarely a single correct approach. Instead, players are free to explore different methods, testing how various abilities and interactions can be combined to achieve their goals. What makes the game stand out is its emphasis on player-driven progression. Objectives are not always clearly defined, and the game offers minimal guidance, especially in its early stages. This lack of direction can feel disorienting at first, but it also reinforces the sense of discovery that defines the experience. Progress often comes from trial, observation, and gradually piecing together how different systems interact. For players who enjoy experimenting and learning through exploration, this approach can be highly engaging. For others, it may feel frustrating, particularly when the game does not clearly communicate its rules or expectations. The gameplay loop revolves around expanding influence while managing the risks associated with doing so. Actions taken to gain control or unlock new opportunities can also increase visibility or create complications, introducing a layer of tension that requires careful planning. Balancing these elements adds depth to the experience, as players must constantly weigh the benefits of progress against the potential consequences. However, the effectiveness of this system is somewhat uneven. At times, feedback can be unclear, making it difficult to fully understand why certain outcomes occur or how to improve. Visually, the game adopts a simple presentation that prioritizes function over detail. Static backgrounds and character-focused artwork form the bulk of the visual experience, serving as a framework for interaction rather than a focal point. While the art style is consistent, it lacks the depth or dynamism that might make the world feel more immersive. This aligns with the game’s overall design philosophy, which places greater emphasis on mechanics than on visual storytelling. A significant aspect of Artifact is its ongoing development. As an early-access project, it continues to receive updates that expand its systems, introduce new content, and refine existing mechanics. This evolving nature adds a sense of growth to the experience, as returning players may find new ways to interact with the world. At the same time, it also contributes to a feeling of inconsistency, as some features are more polished than others and certain areas still feel incomplete. The game’s reception reflects this balance between innovation and roughness. Many players appreciate its open-ended design and unique approach, while others point to its lack of clarity and uneven execution as barriers to enjoyment. It is a game that rewards patience and curiosity, but it does not always make that investment easy. In the end, Artifact is defined by its willingness to take risks. It steps away from the conventions of its genre and offers a more experimental, player-driven experience that prioritizes freedom over structure. While it doesn’t fully refine all of its ideas, it succeeds in creating something distinct and memorable within its niche. For players who enjoy sandbox systems and are comfortable navigating a less guided experience, it can be an engaging and rewarding title. For those who prefer clearer direction and more polished mechanics, its design may feel too opaque to fully appreciate. It is, ultimately, a game of ideas—one that is as intriguing as it is imperfect. Rating: 7/10
Definitely caters to the fetishes it advertises. Gameplay could use some smoothing though: UI is clunky, and the in game education and daylight system are very constraining, and there are some bugs (mostly UI and unfinished content). If this game completes the unfinished parts, and lightens up on the time/contraint mechanics so the player can actually enjoy the unfolding Power/Submission fantasy, this has the potential to be a VERY GOOD game.
(I don't suggest) Such an interesting story it has, there are many ♥♥♥♥♥ happening but didn't paid much attention. For me, it's not playable, for now atleast. But if they improve it, then it will be definitely worth for trying! It does not deserves bad comment.
A better game than ashes of creation! 11/10! ♥♥♥♥ you steven!!!
Interesting story. I didn't read cheats before, I just stumbled through the story on the default difficulty level and won the first time. I'll probably play again because there's several game elements that I read about later that I never encountered on the first playthrough. The game needs further work. There are grammar & spelling mistakes in the text, which is distracting, and the art doesn't really match the description of the actions. There needs to be different text options that match the different outcomes. It does have some bugs. A few times I was stuck not seeing anything I could click on to progress, and had to reload a saved game and make different choices the second time to progress past that point. But it was enjoyable.
