Art is dead is HARD. This 2D top-down shooter DOES NOT forgive mistakes. Enemies have the high ground, and you are trapped like a little mouse inside experimental levels. If you're skilled enough, you might unravel everything behind that annoying creature that forces you to play its games.
Revenue comes from in-game items and microtransactions, which our price-based model doesn't estimate. Copies below reflect the player base, not paid sales.

About
Art is dead is a DIFFICULT GAME. It's a 2D top-down shooter that redefines the idea of AI enemies. In this game, walls can become your most dangerous enemy. You can't hide behind them, you can't use them to your advantage, and your bullets can't pass through them. Meanwhile, enemies can move freely through the map and they will chase you to your death. No matter how deep you are into the game, one stupid mistake can end your progress abruptly, so be careful and never underestimate your enemies. In addition to this, there's a deep lore behind the game explained in a very easy way, so you don't have to read long texts or memorize multiple names, just enjoy the way everything unravels.
Enemies are optimized to make your life there miserable. If you think you are fast enough, a new soul will approach you with terrifying speed while dodging your useless bullets. If you think your weapons are strong enough, a new soul will appear in the darkness, coming to you slowly but resisting all your damage. If you think you have everything under control, which you should never do, your surroundings will become the playground of a sneaky soul only visible through your lantern. All of them will tear you apart in seconds, so you better get away from them and think fast. These are not the only enemies there are, so don't get cocky and learn from all their movements.
The game has two main modes:
- Ego chamber: If you want to understand the lore of the game, this is where you should go. It can be done in 40 minutes or 100 hours, depending on your skill level. Take into consideration it's very challenging and can become frustrating at times. Each level works as a checkpoint, but be aware of every trick the weird entity tries to pull on you. You can lose all your progress if you are not careful and be forced to start the Ego chamber from the start. The more you advance, the more things you'll understand, and the more challenging enemies will become.
- Survival: Just to have fun and break scores. Make use of the best weapons, the best strategies, and the best equipment so you can last the most rounds possible. Just try not to break all the lights, you'll miss them on late rounds. You can choose from 2 different maps. Survival Corridor is composed of 27 rounds designed manually to make the experience there frustrating and difficult. You'll need to explore the map in search of better equipment and not get trapped in narrow corridors. Combat Arena on the other hand is very easy to explore, and rounds are randomly generated. If you have the patience and skills to get to round 100, that's a win, but I doubt you are capable of that.
**************************************************************************
The game has a very defined and dark sense of humor. For every achievement you complete, a new skin will be unlocked so you can be more stylish while killing tormented souls. Some of them have a very rough sense of humor, while others are just cute, fun, or related to other products of Darkhunter Studios. Beware, even the little puns and jokes that may seem unfunny, have a reason for it. We made sure to create a very deep and dark lore behind this game, so anyone can have fun trying to understand exactly what's this game about.
So, what are you waiting for? For the price of a Happy Meal, you can hold the power to execute indiscriminate genocide on poor little sad souls. If you ask me, that's a safe bet.
We are thinking of adding multiplayer to the game, which would increase a lot the hours of entertainment. If we see a good reception from the players, we will start with the development and you will be able to enjoy the game with your friends in less than a week. You know what people say, genocide with friends tastes way better

Bu 2D yukarıdan aşağıya nişancı oyunu hataları affetmiyor. Düşmanlar yüksek bir zeminde ve siz deneysel seviyelerin içinde küçük bir fare gibi sıkışmışsınız. Yeterince becerikliyseniz, sizi oyunlarını oynamaya zorlayan o sinir bozucu yaratığın ardındaki her şeyi çözebilirsiniz.

"Art is dead" is a rather badly made 2D retro pixel top down shooter with the "soulslike" moniker slapped on it... made difficult on purpose, because this saves the developer having to create a lot of content. It's made with Godot's 2D engine, unlike the 3D engine which is pretty good, the 2D engine is awful, and of course, just like you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear, you can't make a reasonable game with a crap engine. No truly successful game has ever been made with Godot2D. There's an edgy "meta" concept to the game as it tries to be all huffy and pretentious about being a crap 2D retro pixel shooter, and the weird veneer over it isn't even as effective as putting lipstick on a pig (that's the second pig analogy today and it's not on purpose). Anyway at the end of the day this is a 2D retro pixel shooter, one of many thousands of these on Steam, all of which are widely ignored by the majority of gamers (see below for the player counts that prove this). It's just not interesting considering this got put on the same platform as games like Counter-Strike and Black Myth Wukong. This features really godawful pixel "art" instead of real graphics. It's hard to say if this was because the developer didn't have the skill to do the job of creating 3D visuals, or couldn't afford to hire someone who does. What matters is that this looks bad because of that decision, and that's a major deterrent to gamers. Games like Terraria and Stardew Valley succeeded despite the bad graphics, not because of them. It's free... now, but it wasn't before. The developer was charging $2 USD for this. Price barriers, especially on low quality products, can be a direct cause of failure. It's a nice gesture for the game to be given away for free, but it also tells us that the game wasn't good enough to succeed as a paid product. Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 3 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Not this time. This isn't worth downloading. While this won't cost you any money, you get what you pay for, and sometimes, even when the game is free, it's still not enough. Art isn't dead, but this isn't art, it's a 2D retro pixel shooter, and those are dead.
Developer Response!
The developer has weighed in to inform everyone they didn't read the Developer Usage Rules for Steam "partners", or they deliberately ignored the part where Valve says:
Though it may be tempting, not every review needs to be responded to. A developer response will frequently draw more attention than the original statement, potentially turning a small issue into a much larger community discussion. It's also not a good idea to use this feature to refute customer opinions. Your direct attention can be seen as validation or a defensive attempt to silence your customers.
The first thing the developer wants everyone to know is that they are The Main Character. You, as a gamer, don't matter. They breach Valve guidelines for developers just to complain about a fully accurate and informative review (with facts their ego doesn't like). It's evident from their attitude that they never created this product with gamers in mind. They did so to stroke their own ego. When developers, especially failed ones who would never be able to get a professional job in the industry, put themselves before gamers, we end up with garbage products like this. That explains how this trash ended up on Steam, but it doesn't excuse it. At least we finally got to meet The Main Character. We can tell this from some incredibly arrogant and insulting things the developer said. If the developer of this trashware wasn't so full of themselves, they might understand that game reviews don't need to be constructive because reviewers aren't here to instruct and teach failed developers how to make games. They should know this before they publish badly made garbage on Steam that nobody wants. Game reviews are here to inform gamers about which products are of high quality, professionally made, and worth spending their hard earned money on. But the developer is so arrogant, it's all about them, so what's good for gamers is something that never crossed their mind. Here's some examples... "I made this game in one month". One month is not enough time to make a decent game... it's a serious endeavour. It's insulting to gamers to do things this badly, on purpose or through incompetence. "... to learn Godot from scratch". It's fine to learn new things, but if it's crap, why publish it on Steam where it pollute the place? Oh yeah, the developer is The Main Character. Nobody else matters. It's all "Me! Me! Me!!!". "I published it on Steam to understand how everything works". Again... not to benefit gamers, but to benefit only one person, The Main Character. Zero consideration for how damaging all this crapware is on Steam, how bad it makes amateur developers look, and how this pollution makes it harder for gamers to find genuinely made games from sincere developers who treat game development as a serious, professional endeavour... real developers, who put gamers before themselves. The developer BOASTS they only spent 1 hour on visuals, the most important part of any game... what a complete, utter, arrogant insult to gamers everywhere. This arrogance is simply astonishing. The developer admits they didn't hire a team of talented staff to produce the game and tried to do the whole thing on their own, instead. This is a lot like boarding an airplane, and halfway through the flight, having the pilot come out and serve peanuts. It's going to end in disaster. It requires a team of competent people to do a complex job properly, and that's not what has happened here... another explanation for the poor quality of this game. One note about Godot2D... no successful game has ever been made with this engine. It's garbage. It's only used by amateur developers who can't work out how to use anything else, and it's been directly responsible for a lot of valueless trash polluting Steam. Godot3D is in fact a very fine engine capable of great things, but talentless amateur hacks don't know how to use it. Of course, that's not the point, is it, the developer would rather attack me than accept the fact that this is a failed game from a failed developer. The developers disgusting self important arrogance, and ignorance for anyone but himself certainly explain why such garbage ended up on Steam, but it excuses none of it. SteamDB does not lie. 3 concurrent players is a dismal failure... a huge rejection from the millions of gamers on Steam. Nothing in the developers pointless breach of Valve guidelines changes any of the objective facts of my review. My review stands unaltered. I cannot recommend this game to anyone. Edit: The developer doubles down on his farcical breach of Valve guidelines... accusing me of being a bot means he doesn't have to explain to his therapist that he's an utter failure of a game developer. You can see the sheer arrogance and mental gymnastics as the developer tries to cope. I'm not responsible for this game being such a failure; the developer is. I'm just reporting the facts. The developers mental incapacity to handle the truth is an issue he'll have to struggle with along with his failure. But attacking reviewers with false claims about AI, and stalking them by reading their profiles and reviews religiously will not make this game better. It's frankly weird and creepy the developer is now obsessed with me.
This indie 2D shooter is a frenetic experience where you'll have to face different types of enemies while you try to make your way through maze-like levels. Its single-player mode will have you traversing different hand-crafted levels as you try to survive hordes of ghosts. In its survival mode, you can test your skill and progress through countless rounds of enemies and bosses that get increasingly harder. Overall, it's a cool 2D shooter that will have you on your nerves and fighting for your life, trying over and over again until you finally make it past that level where you got stuck. Would recommend.
It is a game that I recommend. Its gameplay is direct and it is a challenge to pass the levels. I like its atmosphere of darkness. The graphics are cute and easy to understand. It has several game modes to spend some time enjoying.
This game offers a delightful and highly engaging experience. Despite its challenges, each defeat provides valuable lessons that prepare you for future obstacles. I prefer to view it as a reverse roguelike; while roguelikes feature changing levels in each playthrough, here, it is your understanding of the game that evolves. This aspect highlights the game's progression. Progression is essential in any video game, as it embodies the journey of improvement. This indie 2D shooter delivers a fast-paced adventure where you encounter various enemies while navigating intricate, maze-like levels. The single-player mode invites you to explore uniquely designed levels as you fend off waves of ghosts. In survival mode, you can put your skills to the test, battling through an endless series of increasingly difficult enemies and bosses. In summary, this is an exciting 2D shooter that will keep you on edge, compelling you to persistently attempt to overcome the challenging levels that may initially seem insurmountable. I would highly recommend it. The game is straightforward yet highly effective, concentrating on its core elements rather than spreading itself too thin.
Espectacular, si te van los juegos difíciles, estar en tensión constante y los disparos este juego es perfecto. En caso de que no te guste nada de lo mencionado anteriormente juégalo igual, vale la pena ;)
