Very fast passed action shooter, definitely tests your skills!
I don't play many FPS but this game has a nice aesthetic I like. It gives me Tron vibes with all the neon as well as a good ol 90s feel with the graphics design. You run around the map shooting at angels while trying to survive to get the best possible score kinda like an old Atari game but with added progression in the form of unlockable guns. There's a great variety of weapons to choose from ranging from pistols to flamethrowers to railguns Arsenal Demon has you covered. Controls are fluid and responsive. Def worth a buy :D
Imagine if Devil's Daggers was a little easier, but had a mode with character progression and level ups between runs. Movement feels fun/fluid/nice, even with it's quirky tech (like infinite wall jumping). Flying around at 100mph is a breeze, except for when the arena geometry is placed in a particularly obstructive pattern. The weapons each feel pretty unique and satisfying, except for maybe the flamethrower. My main complaint, honestly, is that every enemy is a flying enemy. So like, imagine all lost souls, cacodemons, and pain elementals. This can make for some less-than-diverse combat encounters, despite how fun it is to actually complete them. A real "one more run" kind of game, in the way you hope an arcadey game to be. It's nothing flashy, but you will have fun for a chunk of time.

Addictive, with more and more to offer. The promise of upgradable and unlockable weapons as you try to survive the onslaught of angels and other enemies keeps you coming back for more. Coupled with the very synthwave soundtrack, this is a good way to kill some time.
Yes.
I already wanted to refund Arsenal Demon. Playing the first option Demon Mode gives you underwhelming limited movement options. I was a stupidly bunnyhopping slow dude on the ground against an overwhelming flying enemy horde. Not fun. I persisted and retried Demon Mode. I didn't try the other modes where every ability would have been available. It turned out, that many movement options need to be unlocked first (in Demon Mode). You need a bit of a grind at the start and you'll unlock more in-air jumps and in-air dash. With these and a bit of training you'll soar through the air like Goku in a Dragonball fight! Super fast! Very satisfying! The arena is a vertical bar, the height being 4 times the size of its length/width. All structures are randomly generated and tend to build many tall pillars. You can accelerate VERY fast upwards on walls. This makes for very vertical focused battles! There are only 8 enemy types but they have such a good variety of different abilities that together they form an interesting threat to overcome. Like in Dragonball the enemies have a blink movement option where they almost instantly travel behind you with a trail of themselves. This will mix you up, no stupid chasing you in a bulk, but spreading out around you and giving you a hard time. To make it even harder, there are a whole lot of 'shackles' - difficulty options to enable from the menu for the next run. There are some bugs happening rarely and a few imbalanced weapon designs, but it's a cool gameplay with fresh ideas which make for a very fast-paced and fun arena shooter!
I'll start off with saying that I'm not very good at these fast-paced action type of shooters. But even with that said I could get into the groove and enjoy running around blasting various devilish shapes coming at me, I found the variety of enemies I encountered interesting and challenging to fight. I did discover that finding an open square corner to run around in was a viable strategy to keep alive and blasting the enemies as they came which did feel a little bit cheesy, but once enough time had passed enough enemies would manage to get close to force you to move. On one run I had enemies that got stuck inside the walls of their "spawn" and refused to come out for 4-5 minutes, only happened once though! Overall an enjoyable game, if you like fast-paced arena shooters you'll love this I bet, as for myself I found it a fun way to kill an hour, might return to this if I get that itch to just run around and shoot at things for a short period of time without having to bother with multiplayer!~
