Army Gals is a choice-driven visual novel developed and published by Dharker Studios, released on Steam in 2017. The game blends elements of romance, survival drama, and branching storytelling into a narrative-focused experience centered around character interactions and player decisions. While it follows the structure typical of many visual novels—reading dialogue and making choices that influence the outcome—it attempts to distinguish itself by placing the characters in a wilderness survival scenario rather than the usual school or slice-of-life settings commonly seen in the genre. The result is a story that alternates between relationship-building moments and tense situations where the group must deal with isolation and uncertainty. The story follows Kyle, a young man who has been labeled a troublemaker and sent to a disciplinary outdoor retreat designed to teach responsibility through survival training. Initially expecting a harsh and unpleasant experience, Kyle arrives at the remote camp only to discover that he will be sharing the retreat with three very different girls. At first the situation seems awkward but manageable, as the group prepares to endure the wilderness program under the supervision of the retreat staff. However, the situation quickly becomes far more serious when the group awakens one morning to find that all of the instructors have mysteriously disappeared. With no adults around to guide them and no easy way to leave the remote area, the four teenagers are suddenly forced to survive on their own in the wilderness. From that point onward, the narrative becomes a mixture of survival storytelling and character development. The group must work together to gather supplies, find shelter, and navigate the unfamiliar environment while trying to figure out what happened to the missing staff members. As the days pass, tensions rise and personal conflicts begin to surface among the group. Each character carries their own background, insecurities, and motivations, which gradually unfold through conversations and shared experiences. The player’s decisions influence how Kyle interacts with the others, shaping the relationships that develop throughout the story. The gameplay itself is built almost entirely around reading dialogue and making choices at key moments. Players guide Kyle through various conversations and situations by selecting responses that determine how the characters react. Some choices lead to stronger bonds with certain characters, while others may create conflict or alter the direction of events. Because the story branches into multiple narrative paths, different decisions can lead to entirely different scenes, character outcomes, and endings. In some scenarios the focus leans heavily toward romance and emotional bonding, while in others the story becomes darker as the characters struggle with fear, mistrust, or dangerous situations in the wilderness. The three female characters serve as the central focus of the narrative, each offering a distinct personality and storyline. Their interactions with Kyle and with each other drive much of the emotional tension within the story. Some routes emphasize romantic development and personal growth, while others reveal hidden aspects of the characters’ pasts that influence how they respond to the survival situation. Because the player can pursue different relationships depending on their decisions, replaying the game allows for the discovery of new dialogue, alternate scenes, and different conclusions to the story. Visually, Army Gals follows the familiar anime-inspired art style commonly used in many visual novels. The character portraits are colorful and expressive, with a variety of facial expressions that change during conversations to reflect emotions such as surprise, anger, or affection. The game also includes a number of illustrated CG scenes that appear during important story moments, highlighting dramatic events or key romantic interactions. The backgrounds depict various wilderness environments such as forests, campsites, and outdoor shelters, helping reinforce the survival theme that underpins the narrative. The soundtrack contributes to the atmosphere by shifting tone depending on the situation. Calmer music accompanies everyday conversations and lighter character moments, while more intense or suspenseful tracks appear during dangerous or emotional scenes. Although the game does not rely heavily on voice acting, the music and sound effects help guide the player’s emotional response to the unfolding story. The pacing of the audio complements the narrative structure, allowing quieter character interactions to contrast with moments of tension or mystery. Despite its interesting premise, the game has several weaknesses that become noticeable during play. One of the most commonly mentioned issues is the inconsistency of the writing. Certain character interactions and emotional scenes are engaging and well-paced, while other parts of the narrative feel rushed or underdeveloped. The protagonist himself can sometimes feel passive within the story, reacting to events rather than actively shaping them. This can make it harder for players to feel fully invested in Kyle’s role as the central character. Another challenge comes from the game’s attempt to balance multiple tones within the same narrative. The story shifts between romance, survival drama, and moments of mystery, which can occasionally feel uneven. Some players may appreciate the unpredictable mixture of genres, while others may feel that the transitions between lighthearted romantic scenes and darker survival elements are not always handled smoothly. The blend of these different storytelling styles sometimes gives the impression that the game is unsure whether it wants to focus more on romance or suspense. Even with these shortcomings, Army Gals still offers an enjoyable experience for fans of choice-driven storytelling. The branching narrative structure provides multiple endings and encourages players to replay the game to explore different routes and uncover hidden story elements. Those who enjoy visual novels that focus on character relationships and moral choices will likely find the experience engaging, especially when experimenting with different decisions to see how the story changes. In the end, Army Gals stands as a modest visual novel that attempts to combine romance with a wilderness survival narrative. While its writing and pacing occasionally struggle to maintain consistency, the game still provides a few memorable character moments and several branching story paths that reward exploration. For players interested in interactive narratives that mix relationship drama with a slightly darker premise, it offers a unique take on the visual novel format. Rating: 7/10

I'm a United States Special Forces Operator with over 20 deployments, over 100 confirmed kills, and currently the highest ranking officer in my Brigade. That being said, I have a lot of knowledge about the United States Military and can tell you right now this game depicts the army in the most accurate way I have seen any game do so. The story is rich, the gameplay is smooth, the characters are interesting, and overall a great game. This game is easily a 2/10 for me.
Yeah, this is a horror game. If you're not expecting that, it's really not fun.
21 fin possible donc un bon jeu, et de la rejouabilité sinon, niveau H c'est moyen tout réside finalement dans l'espoir d'arriver aux 21 fins ^^

Not great, but that's what you get with Dharker Studios. Looks very meh, character designs are pretty generic, music sounds like stock stuff, but gets the job done. The story has some fun stuff in it, but wasn't entirely well thought out for the number of routes and endings, and overall is fairly lacklustre.
6/10. I really liked the "straightforward" writing, story setting, choices, and some of the h-scenes, but there's a painful amount of bad endings and (more negatively) experimentation to get the very specific combinations of choices that are required to reach the "better" and "good" endings. I used a guide after getting a couple bad endings in a row (and was apparently set towards bad endings from early choices), and it still felt like a chore to reach the better endings, and often only provided a mixed feeling of satisfaction with other negative emotions. Can't recommend this one, but I liked the dev's art style and am looking forward to trying Maid Cafe and their other titles (with less dreary settings) in the near future.
First, for spicy content the game requires a patch. To find said patch, search the discussions as the games developer no longer has a link that works. Next, this game is not a fun time game. Think of it as a game that has fun in it and many bad endings with only a few "good" endings. Also, the spicy scenes might be traps, which isn't my flavor of spicy game. Choices matter, but they may not totally guide you where you want to go. Catch them all or single? If there's a catch them all ending, I haven't found it yet and I haven't looked at the guide. I feel like it is a possibility but that I maybe shouldn't have messed around with the red head. Value: Mid to low. Short game, just a couple of hours but there are multiple endings that you could play through. I think value for this will depend on how much you like the game style and low spicy content. Overall, the game was cute. The spicy is very vanilla, static, and the text box hides a lot of action. I don't know how many spicy scenes there are. Game play takes place over 10 days and events are dictated by the choices made. I wouldn't highly recommend this, particularly if you want spicy content, but if you like choose your own adventure games, are okay searching for the patch (find it before you buy the game), then it's not a bad time. It's replayable in that there are multiple endings. In the end, I feel the hype was better than the actual game and it wasn't what I was looking for, but I had a good time.
