Arctic Awakening

Story – 10/10 If you are a fan of The X‑Files, then this is the game for you. The story feels like a lost episode of that seminal sci‑fi series. In other words, it’s a sci‑fi mystery wrapped in the guise of a survival tale. If you want a summary, watch a trailer—point is, this game has a great story. Graphics – 10/10 The graphics are exactly what the game needs: good enough to convey the atmosphere of the setting without being so demanding that you need a god‑tier rig to run it. Level Design – 10/10 The game features many mountain regions that feel rugged and natural. They have an organic layout that, while occasionally confusing, are still fairly intuitive. If you get too far off track, your sidekick Alfie usually says something to point you in the right direction. The sci‑fi locations also feel sufficiently high‑tech but still recognizable enough that you understand what you’re looking at. In this way, the man‑made areas help develop the story almost like another character. Gameplay – 9/10 This is the one area where I have to deduct a point. You don't do much in this game in the way of interacting. Mostly picking up food and drink and meditating. There are however a few puzzles, but they bring the pacing to a halt—like hitting a brick wall on a highway. Traditionally, puzzle games introduce mechanics gradually so that when players encounter a challenge, they know how to solve it. Not so here. The few puzzles that exist are simply thrown at you with no explanation, and without any clue what to do, you can get stuck quickly. While there is some repetition it just isn't helpful enough. Moments that should be tense and exciting instead become tedious and even frustrating. Conclusion – 9.5/10 (Must Play) While the game suffers from some frustrating puzzles and the level design can occasionally be a bit confusing, the compelling story more than makes up for these minor issues. Bottom line: this is an excellent narrative game that anyone who enjoys the genre should play at least once.

Love reading reviews that critique the game in many ways after completion of the game. Genuinely really enjoyed the game and would highly recommend if you're looking for a very laid back, story driven game. At times wasn't sure what/ where I was meant to be going but nether the less was still a superb game. 8/10

This is an absolutely amazing game, the colors, the style, the shading, and the story! It really captures Alaska and the Arctic. The sci-fi feels very realistic for its reaches, and keeps me wondering about what's going to happen next. 9.5/10

I really liked this game, it did feel slow at times but I'm the type to look around and find secrets. I love how many little details there are. 7/10

Fantastic game, one of the best stories out of any of the games I have played. 10/10 would recommend.

I finished episode 1, I'm really enjoying it. I saw a bunch of comments about how bad the writing was, these were obviously written by people who have never heard an actual conversation between two men. The writing is good, the story is interesting. I look forward to finishing it.
