Note: I played only single player mode. I bought the game at 50% off. So I played through the first chapter on single player. I tried to play the second chapter but after 20 or so minutes decided to not waste more of my time on it. The thing is, it is not a very good escape room game. Heck, it is not even a good puzzle game. Some of the puzzles are made confusing for the sake of prolonging game time it feels like... It is also poorly optimized, The 1st chapter takes place in 3 rooms with only some interactive objects and a few lightsources. Nothing fancy at all. I dipped below 45 fps frequently on medium-low settings at 1080p - I get the same fps in Cyberpunk 2077 ! I didn't have a good time, except for a few chuckles especially at the book with the poppies cover. I'd recommend you get The Room series for single player puzzles instead. This one will go into my "will not finish" Steam library group.
It's a fun escape room game (Played it with a friend). There were a few bugs, but they were patched out pretty fast by the developer.
My friends and I have done a lot of escape rooms in our time and this one was, quite frankly, absolutely atrocious. We came across a pretty major bug in the first room where you press a button to play as a rat in a maze, and the rat was just clipped into the ceiling so no one could move but could hear running sounds, so we had to look up the solution lol Pressing on, you'll find three escape rooms with only a few puzzles each, mainly of which require weird jumps in logic and a tacked on vague story that left much to be desired Also the fact that this is like $15 outside of sales, are you smoking actual crack lol
Timer stressed me out too much. I like to take my time so I activated "relaxed mode". But I can admit the design is solid, and for people who like pressure, this is gold.
A nice quick escape room style game for you and your friends, while there is not a lot to explore, ultimately it is not needed as you are there for the puzzles which do challenge you at time. its quick intellectual fun and I would recommend this game for players new to puzzle games. I would give this game a 7/10. just due to the lack of depth the game offers.
Decent and rather tricky at times. Particularly chapter 3 had a few toughies (hints are present if required). The three chapters each had a nicely distinct aesthetic and atmosphere. There was a smidge of a story, though it had little impact. Resolution options available were weird (no 2560x1440). There are time limits present (unless "Relax Mode" is enabled) which don't really serve any purpose. A few hours worth of gameplay. 63/100
Short, sweet, and surprisingly responsive devs. We blasted through the first chapter fast, reported an achievement issue, and got a quick response. That kind of support goes a long way.
Mad Experiments: Escape Room is a puzzle-focused cooperative adventure from PlayTogether Studio that takes the excitement of physical escape room attractions and transforms it into a digital experience built around teamwork, observation, and logical thinking. Rather than relying on fast-paced action or survival mechanics, the game challenges players to work through elaborate environments filled with mysteries, hidden clues, and interconnected puzzles. Its foundation may seem familiar to fans of the genre, but its commitment to cooperative problem-solving and atmospheric presentation gives it a distinct identity. The game introduces players to an unusual situation involving Professor Cheshire, a mysterious figure conducting strange experiments tied to human behavior and intelligence. Alongside his assistant Hildegarde, Cheshire places participants into carefully designed rooms where observation and deduction become essential tools for survival and progress. While escape rooms traditionally focus purely on solving puzzles to escape confinement, Mad Experiments adds a layer of narrative intrigue that gives purpose to every challenge. The gradual uncovering of secrets behind these experiments creates curiosity that pushes players forward. Gameplay centers heavily on exploration and communication. Every room contains clues hidden in plain sight, environmental details that matter, and puzzles designed to reward careful attention. Some solutions involve combining information found across different sections of an area, while others challenge players to identify patterns or manipulate objects in specific ways. The variety prevents progression from becoming predictable, and solving difficult sequences often creates a genuine sense of accomplishment. The cooperative component stands as one of the strongest parts of the experience. While solo play remains an option, the game clearly thrives when played alongside friends. Supporting multiplayer groups of up to six participants, Mad Experiments captures the social energy that makes real escape rooms memorable. Players naturally divide responsibilities, search different locations, exchange discoveries, and piece together information as a team. This collaborative structure creates satisfying moments where communication becomes just as important as puzzle-solving ability. Environmental design contributes heavily to immersion. Every room feels intentionally crafted to encourage curiosity and tension. Lighting choices, object placement, and visual details create spaces that invite exploration without overwhelming players with clutter. The environments consistently maintain an atmosphere of mystery, reinforcing the feeling that participants are subjects inside a larger psychological experiment. The game succeeds at making even ordinary rooms feel suspicious and worth examining carefully. Sound design quietly strengthens the experience as well. Ambient effects help establish mood while subtle audio cues contribute to tension without becoming distracting. The soundtrack complements exploration effectively, maintaining suspense while allowing players to focus on solving puzzles. Combined with the visual presentation, the audio design helps create an environment where players remain engaged and attentive. Puzzle quality remains consistently solid throughout most of the adventure. Challenges feel grounded in logic rather than random guessing, rewarding players who pay close attention to details. Progression steadily introduces fresh concepts without becoming overly complicated. Experienced puzzle players may occasionally recognize familiar escape room mechanics, but the overall execution remains polished enough to keep challenges enjoyable. The game understands that satisfying puzzle design comes from making players feel clever rather than frustrated. The narrative element also adds welcome motivation beyond simply escaping rooms. Small story developments gradually reveal more about Professor Cheshire and the purpose behind his experiments. The mystery unfolds carefully without interrupting gameplay flow, creating balance between storytelling and puzzle-solving. Rather than dominating the experience, narrative content enhances it by giving context to player actions. There are limitations worth mentioning. Players searching for extensive replay value outside multiplayer sessions may find content somewhat limited after completing available scenarios. Certain puzzle structures occasionally rely on established escape room conventions that genre veterans will recognize immediately. Solo players can still enjoy the experience, but some of the excitement naturally diminishes without cooperative interaction. Despite those shortcomings, Mad Experiments: Escape Room delivers exactly what it sets out to achieve. It captures the satisfaction of physical escape room attractions while leveraging the advantages of a digital format. Strong cooperative mechanics, immersive environments, engaging puzzle design, and an intriguing mystery combine to create a rewarding experience for players who enjoy testing observation skills and teamwork under pressure. For puzzle enthusiasts and groups of friends searching for a cooperative challenge, Mad Experiments: Escape Room offers an enjoyable and thoughtfully designed experience that proves digital escape rooms can deliver much of the same excitement and satisfaction found in their real-world counterparts. Rating: 7/10
Best with friends, especially if you disable the timer. We played in a group and it felt like a proper escape-room night. One chapter’s setting was a standout because it felt less like a “room” and more like an adventure space.
