This like living your life as an old school Dungeons & Dragons wizard where you get to build out your tower and everything. It's a little wonky yet in Early Access, it feels incomplete in big ways but it's still very fun. I hope everyone supports the devs and that they find a way forward. I'll update my review as the game changes.
I've really enjoyed this game. It has a very interesting concept and I love the exploration along with the combat. I am excited to see they are making new updates and plan to jump back in and play more!
What is here, is enjoyable, but make sure you play the beta branch. I found myself skipping through the story thought at one point, just because it felt like it was the same "go talk to this person" over and over.
It needs a lot of small fixes, a lot.
Game has great potential. Right now, in early access, it is not amazing yet, but if the development will be continued it might. For now some mechanics seems partly or not implemented yet, but I like the core of the game. Will get back to it some day
I can see where this Game is going and how much potential it has for Sandbox players. Not for everyone but I like it.
Understanding that this game is Early Access, take the following for what it is. I love the concept of this game. I'm really enjoying the game so far, which is about 20 hours investment at this time. There's a lot of depth. A lot of systems to explore. I really enjoy the story and lore. The gameplay is pretty fun. The only issues I have are what I think are to be expected in an early access game. * Performance issues: The UI system seems to have weird lag issues. When scrolling over options in dialog or other UI systems, there is a delay in being able to select something and then a delay in the execution. This has caused me to misclick on the wrong option or stack commands causing me to make a second click when I was thinking the first click wasn't registered. * A couple bugged quest options. NPCs deliver quest dialog but the are no options to choose to move forward. * UI issues: Scaling/formatting seems to be off in certain scenarios. Things are aligned properly. Scrolling through things can be absolutely atrocious. * A crazy thing... NO ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ LOOT from battles. WTF? How do you only get a few gold from every battle? How are there literally no loot drops from battles? * No dungeon completion summary: I'd love to see a summary when you complete a dungeon about the event. How many of each type of creature did you kill? What did you find/collect? How much exp did you get? That'd be fun. * Some quest tasks send, unnecessarily seemingly, crazy distances away, then you have to go all the way back. * When you ask NPCs for information, like where something can be found, there is no journal that records it. So if they tell you that something can be found 27 miles away in a certain direction, you have to remember that. A lot of the time you'll run into something else (a dungeon, a battle) on the way and forget. * There aren't really any quest markers on the map. It can be crazy difficult to find quest locations at times I think the game is super fun. It combines some great ideas and, I think, executes them pretty well for an early access game! I'm super stoked for the future development of this game.
This is the kind of game that can just start steamrolling with the right content or modsupport. It's just oozing with potential!
I'm reviewing this in early access, around 0.3, world events are in beta. The important part is that the bones of the game are more or less here. You can see how the skill systems are working, you don't have an explicit class and leveling system, but instead level your skills by use, you gain spells based on your magical skill levels, and you wear armor and use items to modify your stats further (such as having a protection value, which keeps your hp safe in combat). It's looking good so far, I've enjoyed the four hours I have put in, and look forward to where it is going to go in the future. There's only so much here at the moment, but what is here is a good baseline. You gain skills through use, even skills you don't have. Didn't pick up lockpicking in your character creation process? That's fine, you can buy lockpicks and keep at it until you succeed and get started in the skill. There is still more work to be done though, so we'll see how it turns out by 1.0. At the very least, it's a neat game where you play a wizard and do wizard stuff and adventurer stuff. I'm not sure how crafting works yet, but gathering resources seems to work fine, so if they keep building up from this foundation then this game looks like it's going to be some good fun.
