No controller support... in a game like this?! ..Come on bruh!! No Steam high scores... in a game like this?! ..Come on bruh!! Cool looking explosions is about all I can say positive for this game. There isn't even on option to turn off auto-fire FFS. Why not just make the game play for you with AI? This game is just asking too much money for it lacking no-brainer features like Steam high scores and controller support. Make some patches to add what's overly obviously missing from this game, and I "might" buy this again when it drops to a 50% off on a sale or something. As it is right now at launch... NOT RECOMMENDED. - This just feels lazy and rushed with pretty graphics and nearly zero substance. I've played much more fun and deeper retro style games for $3 full price and there's literally hundreds of better options at this price for this kinda game.
The presentation of the game is extremely minimalistic, offering no sense of story, context, or motivation for the player’s actions. Your only goal is to complete 25 missions, all of which take place on the exact same screen. The only variation between missions is the initial placement of mines, while the enemy waves follow nearly identical patterns each time. Gameplay is just as simple as the presentation. The only thing you are required to do is move the spaceship around the screen, shoot down enemies, and dodge incoming fire. Shooting happens automatically, so you never need to press a button to attack. There are no additional mechanics, secondary weapons, or interactive systems to deepen the experience. Although the game does include a “special attack,” even that activates on its own once a painfully slow energy bar fills up. In essence, the game can be played with one hand, as there’s nothing to manage except basic movement. Gamepad is not supported. Each level unfolds in a nearly identical way: your ship remains at the bottom of the screen while enemies descend from above. The quicker you destroy them, the fewer projectiles you’ll have to dodge. Enemy variety is minimal, with only a handful of ship types that are reused throughout the game. New enemy designs are introduced only after several missions, and even then, they add little in terms of excitement. Occasionally, large enemy ships will drop one of three power-ups upon destruction. One restores a small portion of your health, another boosts your speed by a meager one percent, and the last simply increases your score. Having a high score serves no purpose other than personal satisfaction. There are also permanent upgrades that become available as you progress, but these are so weak that they barely make any difference. For example, by reaching mission nine, you’ll have unlocked four upgrades that provide a total of just a two-percent increase in attack and movement speed. There are ten upgrades in total, but none of them meaningfully impact gameplay. Every mission follows the same dull formula. To even stand a chance, your first task is to clear mines and collect a random weapon power-up. This can be a missiles or a wider attack spread. Then, you eliminate as many enemies as possible. Some enemies are marked with a crosshair, and if any of them manage to reach the bottom of the screen, you die instantly. Survive the wave, and you move on. The game is punishing, as you can only withstand around three hits before your ship explodes. You get a single life per mission, though progress is saved after each mission, sparing you from replaying everything in one go. While most enemy projectiles are slow and easy to dodge, a few, such as a devastating flamethrower, are instant death if you stray too close. In the end, this space shooter can’t be recommended. Its repetitive missions, lack of depth, and insignificant upgrades make it tedious to play. With its simplicity and limited content, it’s hard to justify its high price, especially when there are far better, more engaging shooters out there.
