About

By 2060, Earth will be uninhabitable. The discovery of a 9th planet – Persephone – at the edge of the solar system, is humanity's best hope. The European Space Agency is dispatching the Hope-01 scientific mission, consisting of 2 of their accomplished astronauts, Ariane and Thomas. Their mission: to survey the planet and determine whether humanity can prosper anew here.
Your adventure begins in chaos, as the crash landing of their ship scatters them across the planet, launching them on a desperate quest to find one another.
Aphelion is a cinematic third-person action-adventure set on the planet Persephone, an uncharted, frozen world. Stranded and isolated, you must survive the truly unknown, find each other, and complete the mission. Traverse stunning alien landscapes, avoid lurking threats, and discover the haunting secrets buried beneath the ice.

Explore the surreal beauty of Persephone, a vast frozen world shaped by deadly weather and ever-changing terrain.
Armed only with your explorational tools – pathfinder, oxygen tank, grappling hook, and more – you must face the unknown, traverse treacherous terrain, and gather clues about the strange, reality-bending phenomenon threatening your existence.
Ariane must persevere and push forward to save Thomas. Her Pathfinder tool helps her find the way through the shifting expanse. She faces desperate swings over dark chasms and tricky climbs up melting ice – risking her life with every step. Thomas, injured in the crash, must rely on ingenuity and observation, piecing together what surrounds him to survive. As both characters explore and investigate, they will uncover secrets and clues as to the planet’s strange conditions and what caused the crash of their ship.

You are not alone. There is a hostile lifeform stalking you. Avoid detection in tense, thrilling stealth sequences; use the environment to your advantage, and stay one step ahead of whatever hunts you. Explore Persephone and complete the mission, all while trying to survive in the terrifying presence of an unknown enemy.

Helpless on the edge of the solar system, the Hope-01 crew faces a brutal new world and the echoes of a complicated past. Ariane Montclair and Thomas Cross share a deep connection, a relationship left unresolved by the demands of their careers and their mission. Facing overwhelming odds, their fractured bond becomes a lifeline as they grasp in the dark for one another.

I am normally very fine with mediocre games but this one is a disaster. It has great visuals and many good views but the whole game feels like a chore and I don't think I'll be able to finish the last chapter. If you can survive past the enormous jankiness that the introduction presents, you might end up playing the whole game. I read many times this was a "parkour" game. There is no parkour (which is not a bad thing). In fact when I started the game, seeing how bad the animations were, I could not believe it was going to be based on parkour. This is more like a walking simulator in 3rd person, with some running sequences. The climbing is the oldest kind of climbing you can imagine (think Tomb Raider 2). The main characters seem to be in a competition for which will be disliked more. Bland story and exploration on rails (which is not necessarily always a bad thing), not a good experience overall.

Appena finito, impressioni a caldo. English Version Aphelion is a cinematic title set on Persephone, centered around two main characters: Thomas and Arianne, ESA astronauts on a mission to the planet. It’s a heavily story-driven experience, featuring impressive visuals, strong facial animations, and solid overall presentation. Gameplay leans toward the walking simulator side, with some light exploration, plenty of parkour, climbing and traversal sections, a few stealth moments, and occasional sequences reminiscent of Detroit: Become Human–style quick time events. There are also a few gameplay devices/mechanics involved, but I’ll avoid spoilers. Just finished it — fresh impressions. Is it worth playing? Overall, yes: 6.5/10. Is it a masterpiece? No. That said, if you enjoy the genres mentioned above and you’re into space settings, it’s a well-packaged experience that remains enjoyable from start to finish.
I really wanted to give this game a positive review, but unfortunately my overall experience was more frustrating than enjoyable. The story isn't terrible, but it never really stood out to me either. It feels unfinished in places, with several questions left unanswered and an ending that doesn't provide much closure. Maybe the developers are leaving room for a sequel, but as it stands, the narrative doesn't feel particularly satisfying. The game also tries hard to build an emotional connection between its characters, but it never quite worked for me. Their relationships felt forced rather than natural, which made it difficult to become invested in them. The one exception was Thomas Cross, who at least had some charisma and brought a bit of personality and humor to the experience. To be fair, the game does have some strengths. The visuals are good, the environments look great, and the soundtrack does an excellent job of setting the atmosphere. If I were judging only the presentation, this would probably be an average-to-good game. Unfortunately, the technical issues completely overshadowed those positives. The game crashed constantly on my system. Cutscenes would sometimes end abruptly because the game simply crashed to desktop. Considering my hardware, performance should not have been an issue, yet stability was a constant problem throughout the entire playthrough. The biggest issue, however, was the gameplay itself. Character movement frequently glitched out. Sometimes I would get stuck in place for no apparent reason, while other times invisible geometry would push the character forward or make them stumble during stealth sections. Since even a small amount of noise can immediately alert enemies, these glitches often resulted in unavoidable failures. The enemy encounters also became less interesting over time. The first few encounters were tense, but eventually it became obvious that the creature simply appears wherever the game wants it to appear. You can leave it far behind, enter a new area, and suddenly it's right there again. Instead of feeling intelligent or unpredictable, it felt scripted and repetitive. I was also surprised by how poorly the scanner controls work on PC. Zooming and scanning requires excessive mouse-wheel scrolling, to the point where simple interactions become tedious. What would take a second on a controller often required constant scrolling on mouse and keyboard. During stealth sections, I was sometimes caught by enemies simply because I was still trying to zoom the scanner to register collectibles or intel. In the end, Aphelion left me with mixed feelings. There is a solid visual and audio presentation here, and there are moments where the game shows potential. However, the combination of technical problems, frustrating controls, and an underwhelming story made it difficult for me to enjoy. Because of that, I can't recommend it, and I don't see myself replaying it in the future.
Daumen mitte.
