Summary
Short very simple strategy simulator of an ant hive trying to survive and grow. Pros + Easy to play + Cute Cons - Repetitive
Overview
Ant War: Domination is a short simple strategy simulator where you will spend most of the time skipping turns to fast forward the game as there is little to manage your anthill other than setting up a few sliders to determine the kind of work you want them to do. At the beginning you are also able to choose what kind of ants you want the colony to be, but overall it is only marginally helpful to start since when your level is high enough the sliders are more than enough to get you what your colony needs each day. Each day as your ants undertake the tasks set random events can happen, some of these will be fights that depending on your area can be very bad as they are able to decimate you ant populations so pick your fights wisely and retreat when they're too powerful. There are also upgrades that you can do to you ants that will help them be better in their jobs by finding and spending gems in the shop. Pretty sure this might have been a phone game previously. Other than working on the optimal setting for your colony most of the time will be spent in a simple loop as the game isn't very complicated. Manage hive settings, level up, maintain needs, move to higher better zones as needed, and rinse repeat. There is an end to the game but you have to reach a ridiculous number of ants culminating in your colony taking over the city. ANT PROPAGANDA
Ant War: Domination is an incremental game from before people knew how to make incremental games fun. It's a nostalgic game for me; I played and beat it when I was a very small child. I was able to at the ripe young age of 5 due to this game's sheer simplicity. It doesn't take very much time to find out the optimal combination, and once you do it's just a matter of idly getting to level 35, moving to the beach, and idling the rest of the game. Having an autoclicker genuinely removes 99% of the "gameplay" and speeds it up dramatically, despite not even being a clicker game. There are better ways to spend less than five dollars on this platform, go find those instead.
Hard to recommend at full price
I first played a free, browser-based version of this game back in the early 2000's, which only had a demo for the first 10(?) levels or so at the time. It stuck with me so much that I decided to get it while it was on sale here on Steam to try the full game. Early Game - Enjoyable resource management Mid Game - Can look forward to unlocking each area as you level up and try to go for more difficult battle encounters, but the game as a whole is not super complex. As it continues, some aspects tend to become more trivial, and once you've hit a million ants, you've essentially experienced the game End Game - While I won't go over every mechanic in detail, this is where I would say the game becomes a slog Somewhere around the level 50's as you're unlocking the last area, the balance just slowly tapers off. Enemy encounters scale with you progressively, but it gets to a point where you can't justify the losses. The initial upgrade balancing makes sense, but you'd have to sink a ton of time grinding encounters (and then rebuilding the ant population) to get up to the 2000 gem items. Put together, there's not really much game left after all areas are unlocked This is a pretty repetitive game made a while ago, and isn't really trying to be a complex experience. That being said, while there are many aspects that work well enough, overall there's too much here that doesn't work for me to recommend it. I have 9.5 hours of playtime here, but I left it running throughout the day while I stepped away sometimes (wasn't sure if it autosaved if I closed it). It took me maybe 5-6 hours of actual interaction to finish the game, with 1 or 2 of those hours just being end-game clicking until the colony hit the five million mark.
https://youtu.be/C6OImMKA0Eo Taking a retired flash game that requires nothing much besides patience as numbers climb up is less than a compelling gameplay experience.
Great mini game~ (you can usually find it somewhere online for like 2 bucks) Get an auto clicker. Save your hands <3
I am so torn on whether to give a postive or negative review to this game.
This is a genuinely awful game but I love it so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ much for no discernible reason. Do not buy it unless you're mentally ill.
