✅ Dark, gripping story, blends horror, mystery, and comedy well. ✅ Full voice acting, makes characters feel alive. ✅ Multiple endings, strong replay value. ✅ Beautiful character art, stylish and expressive. ✅ Well-written dialogue, keeps interactions engaging. ✅ Free to play, high-quality content at no cost. ✅ Emotional moments, hits hard when it needs to. ❌ Some violent scenes, might not be for everyone. ❌ Slow pacing at times, story takes a while to build up. Final Verdict: 8.5/10 – A well-crafted visual novel with deep storytelling, memorable characters, and plenty of replayability.
May be it's not ideal game. May be it quite simple or not what it seem to be. But diffidently a game with soul. At least it become for me as and first Angel Wings. I understand that everybody have their own tastes, but I liked characters as in first Angel Wings, the art, the personalities. Elise (to be honest because of first Angel Wings part of the game I thought she will become a villain and some point, but then you realize this game is a redemption for her from the first Angel Wings, and I like it, so Elise become one of my favorite), Lilith, Rose and Cassia are my favorite. I liked the story and I'm grateful for possibility to save all characters in "perfect ending" You may like or not this game. It's ok, everyone have their own tastes and opinions. But for me this game left something warm in my heart, and I want to say big Thank You! to the RumR Design team for those feelings. And I hope to see Elise ,Lilith, Rose, Cassia and others (including characters from first Angel Wings) again some day.
Angel Wings: Endless Night is not a game, it's an e-book that's been dumped on Steam masquerading as a game. As a visual/interactive novel, this doesn't feature any notable gameplay, it's just a lot of clicking through badly written dialogue that would never have been accepted or published in print, which poses the question, "How did something this badly written end up on Steam?". When someone hoping to become an author is unable to get published in print, they spend $100 and dump their high school fan-fiction onto Steam, under the guise of a game. This is yet another high school anime fan club dropout fanfiction, and once more the topic of the story is primarily about, you guessed it, the authors imaginary girlfriend. There's a few CYOA elements, and the usual high school anime scene is replaced by an even more cringey and contrived horror backdrop of particularly poor quality. Just another fan-fiction from an author so bad that real world book publishers probably took out restraining orders before even opening the emails. Visual novels/e-books are tedious at best... imagine the best novel you ever read, be that Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy or 2001: A Space Odyssey or Twilight (if you have terrible taste in literature), but then translate that to a format where the words dribble out and you have to click your mouse every time you wanted to read the next sentence, instead of just turning the pages. You'd think it was garbage. Now imagine that experience, but with much worse writing (because if these guys could write professionally, they'd be published authors and this would be on shelves in bookstores, and they wouldn't have to pay Valve $100 to self-publish this on Steam), and you have your average Steam e-book. One of the chief problems with failed authors polluting Steam with non-game E-books is that E-books can easily just be presented in a web browser... there's no justification for charging money on Steam for what might as well be a webpage. We don't spend thousands on buying a gaming rig to spend money on Steam for something Chrome or Firefox could do. Despite having no up-front cost, this failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the e-book peaked at just a dozen or so concurrent readers, and now there's basically nobody reading it. Even though it's free. This is a dismal public reception, but it's easy to see why gamers rejected it. While this E-book is "free", you can get better quality, professionally written books and comics for free online (from places like Project Gutenberg) or from public libraries. Steam isn't a comic book store, neither is it Netflix, it's for games. Your gaming rig is not a Kindle. It's impossible for me to recommend things to PC gamers that aren't really games.
Developer Response!
The author has weighed in to inform everyone they didn't read the Developer Usage Rules for Steam "partners", or they deliberately ignored the part where Valve says:
Though it may be tempting, not every review needs to be responded to. A developer response will frequently draw more attention than the original statement, potentially turning a small issue into a much larger community discussion. It's also not a good idea to use this feature to refute customer opinions. Your direct attention can be seen as validation or a defensive attempt to silence your customers.
This is a little disturbing as the author indicates they started stalking me and feverishly reading through my reviews... either just obsession with me on their part, or desperation to try find something in one of my other reviews that would somehow change the objectively terrible quality of this failed "game". Whatever their motivation, creeping on reviewers like this is not okay. The "author" argues that I review a lot of games, therefore this e-book review isn't valid or truthful. Huh. If I changed all my other reviews to positive, would the writing of this garbage e-book suddenly improve? Would it stop being a crap e-book and start being a game? No. The author seeks any possible angle to throw shade at me personally to discredit my review. You can see what they are trying to do. If this was the only review I have ever written, would that change any of the properties of this e-book or alter the facts contained in my review? Of course not. My reviews for other products have no bearing on the dismal quality of this failed e-book. So, we have a failed author of a garbage cringefest e-book fan-fiction (not a game, those are too hard for failed developers because it's more work that just filling out an e-book markup file with cringe) attacking a reviewer because I pointed out why nobody wanted his high school fan-fiction. Why this hostility? It's a mental coping mechanism, if he attacks me he doesn't have to accept the truth about his failure. Pathetic, really. The author's disgusting "main character" attitude explains so much about how and why such garbage ended up on Steam, but excuses none of it. Nothing in the authors pointless breach of Valve guidelines changes any of the objective facts of my review. My review stands unaltered. I cannot recommend this high school fan-fiction to anyone.
