This is a free Visual Novel, made with Ren'Py, by an indie dev. The setting is post-apocalyptic, after a virus outbreak which turns humans into monstrous killer mutants. The concept of the story is awesome, but the telling of the story... not so much. The current story of the survivors is shallow and only mildy interesting, and there is barely any background story to speak of. The Store Page has the tag "Choices matter". Well... some choices matter, and some don't. The Store Page also has the tag "horror", but I would not categorize this game as true horror. It is not scary at all. I would use terms like disturbing, thought-provoking, unnerving, and suspenseful. I really wish this story had been fleshed out some more. It had so much potential. WARNING!! The Store Page does not have the tag "LGBTQ+", but the story does contain 2 female gay characters. There is no kissing or anything. They just exist. It also contains 1 character who goes by "they/them" pronouns, so do not play this if you are easily triggered by such things. If you are physically and/or mentally sensitive, the game also contains flashes, adult language, blood, deadly violence, a panic attack, a pet death, and a reference to suicide. You play as Spencer, 1 of 7 survivors living in a bunker out in the woods. Amber found the bunker first, and other people have moved in over time. You start out on the evening of day #398 since the mutant virus outbreak occurred. Spencer awakens from a nap just as Luca and Valentina return from a scavenging trip. Each day, two people go out to scavenge for food and supplies. If you are one of the people who goes out on scavenging trips, you will find some items in the woods which may be used later in the game. If you survive long enough, you will play through a condensed version of 6 days and nights. On the evening of day #404, you will interview each person in the bunker. You are testing their reactions to your questions to see if anybody is infected. There are 6 endings to the story, and they are based on the choices you made which mattered. There are 10 achievements, but they do not count on your Profile. Also, there are neither trading cards, nor Point Shop items, so once you get all of the achievements, there is no replayability. The game should take you a total of between 2.0 to 3.0 hours to get all 6 endings and all of the achievements. It should take between 60 to 90 minutes to complete the story for your first run. The rest of the time will be spent both on your second run, and on reloading your saves trying to get the different outcomes which are available. As usual with Ren'Py, the game has pretty good cartoon graphics. It also has some really cool sound effects when the mutants are nearby. I'd love to see a sequel. The game ran perfectly fine too. I experienced no bugs or glitches.
A short, but interesting apocalyptic horror visual novel with plenty of endings depending on your decisions. Held up in a bunker, day by day you send two party members out to scavenge for supplies. You can hang back and talk to the others or join someone on the trip yourself. Some of the characters are interesting, others not so much. Each trip pushes the story forward and it’s all over just as things start getting interesting. Replayed a few times skipping the dialogue to see the various endings and it still only clocked in at 2.2 hours. It’s free and I only played it as I’ve never played a visual novel. Horror being a bonus. Quite enjoyed it.
Pleasant little horror game that can be actually quite unnerving. It's not lacking in any department and feels competently put together with sfx, art, music, multiple endings and a few animations. I would've been happy if it were a tad longer so that I could see how the cast reacts after the conclusion of the game, but I'd rather be left wanting more rather than wanting less.
very sigma and its free (and the characters are hot)
The story for this Horror NV was really good. its not too long def a god read. 6 endings in total. The art and the animations were phenomenal
So ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ cool. The pacing is a little iffy and it's a tad repetitive, but the art is fantastic and the story itself is great. Absolutely give it a go
A really fun game honestly, for me this all started with mlp infection series on youtube shorts but I now I think monsters and infections like this are pretty cool and all. I liked this game a lot, the endings were interesting and the achievements were not that complicated. The characters are all pretty interesting (I think Amber is the best) to interact with and I love the design of the game.
