An Adventure RPG
https://youtu.be/8Q0ND44XBls + Visually the game has a unique visual style with 3D environments mixed with 2D characters or sprites. + The gameplay is decent with a Action Turn Based combat system which relies on you making quick decisions and pressing arrow keys to dodge or "deflect" enemy attacks. + An interesting fantasy setting with some humorous characters and dialogue that can be quite funny. - default controls are a bit odd. You use the mouse, the arrow keys, and the [A] and [D] keys. I don't have 3 arms, so it felt a bit weird switching between them. You can rebind the keys though, so it's not a big problem. - I had problems when facing the second boss who seemed a bit overpowered. Not sure if I needed to go back and grind for levels or what the problem was.
Unique visuals in a 3D environment mixed with 2D characters and Interesting storyline.

Andoran Skye XD is a graphically outstanding game for being made by one man. Sound wise it has great sound effects and music, being a pure text base game it makes up for the lack of voices with a great music selection i assume was made the creator himself. I noticed that very rarely that the sound effect from attacks will stop abruptly when another enemy is scripted/has its chance of attack. Graphically the game is top notch when you look at some other games that have a team of a dozen working on it and it comes out being slightly inferior to this game, at no point did i actually not stop to look at the background or other characters for each one was unique even though they didnt add much or anything to the story they looked the part and made up for lack of helpfulness in humor. As far as the Gameplay goes there are some hiccups and confusion in the game for example Chain Attacks are never explained through the course of the game even though when i did have a chance to try the mechanic out is proved to be very helpful on three of the bosses. Also some characters have skills out shined by ones they already have or later recieve another example would be Catalina's attack Melody Mash over her Mint Powder, Chadricks series of Red Bashes or WarRab's Single target Attacks. Another thing to keep in mind when you do play the game is the Stat Growth of your character, Special attacks still seem to be able to put points into when they are maxed out, as i experimented with this to see if it actually did make them stronger or if it was just a bug i wasted a few levels on Catalina and WarRab (about two each) just to find out it did not infact make them stronger and if it did there was no noticable or worth damage up. The Replay Value so far isn't there, i have been told that the game could go through several changes while being polished to give it some sort of end game, maybe some sort of dunegeon or something gamers always love, a NG+ to just faceroll the game that did you dirty the first go round. All in all Andoran Skye XD is a great lesser known game to try out to support the creator for this wonderful game, once again the story is a great thing to atleast experiance and the gameplay although it has some hiccups i found personally addictive. I would definately reccomend this game to anyone looking for something cheap to play around with.
What is Andoran Skye XD, what did Chadwick Evans want to achieve with this game, honestly I have no clue because this game will make you rage quit too often because it is trying to be too many things all at once and failing every time. It tries to be a mix of side scrolling RPG like Secret Of Monkey Island and button mashing fighting like Tekken and I say bravo to the idea. This could easy be a new level of game play that could bring hours of fun but some how turns you into slobbering demon of rage and spewing forth words from Barry Manilow’s greatest hits! (My wife had to leave the room! Yes, it was that bad). The story behind Andoran Skye XD is a tale where an evil dude in a cloak Is looking for an artefact that helps control the world of Andoran (I think) We then cut to a young man called Chadwick who is minding his own business when an earth quake (or explosion, it is not clear) interrupts his reading in the library. In amongst the confusion Chadwick falls through the floor into a basement. He tries to find a way out and comes across a mysterious chest that contains a glowing stick or staff (again it is not truly clarified), that instantly zaps him to the lands of Andoran (or zaps him to another part of Andoran, I can’t say, a lot of the starting story is so unclear I fell like I’m reading mud!) Upon waking Chadwick is greeted by Tredun, a man in a trench coat looking like he is ready to go all Blade Runner on Chad’s arse than be an actually a spell caster (which he is suppose to be). Tredun informs a bewildered Chadwick that he is the saviour of Andoran and needs to meet with a surviving Elder. And here starts the adventure (Hell). You move through the land using your WASD & QE keys, plus interact with items with your mouse. A & D for moving left and right of screen, W is to jump and Q and E to cycle left of right of a given path when a path choice arrow pops up on screen (no character movement for S but crouch would have been nice). Here the first sign of problems with this game is the ‘Path choice’, no matter how many times you try to cycle to a different path, the game will have none of it and automaticlly kicks you to a predetermined path, so there really is no freedom of choice (The Chad giveth and the Chad taketh away). The next flawed gem is the fighting sequences. The first two tutorial bouts are a farst, fighting is in real time so you do not get a chance to plan you attack or defence. The tutorial points out that you use certain keys to use but no key is given accept a [Choose] or [Cancel] is shown through out leaving you to push buttons till you find a result (but not the one you need to find though). You also need to choose who is attacking and this requires you to click on which character you want to do the attacking then bring up a menu of their attacks. This is all well and good as the monsters attacking you in the first two tutorials just stand there like stunned mullets. You move on to your third battle and you soon discover to you dismay that while fighting you need to mash a three key sequence of buttons to block an attacking monster’s attack (either WASD). No where is this mentioned in the first two and it is not a set sequence like in most fighting games but a random set each time the monster attacks. So you are virtually playing ‘Simon Says’ with your character’s blocks but you only have a split second to do the sequence. During fighting a recharge button also pops up above a character’s head, so once they have done an attack you can not use them again till this bar is full (again this is not mentioned in the tutorial fights). You will also discover (by accident) that Q & E will bring up a wheel with Chain, Battle or Flee written on it. Battle is obvious, Chain means that you can chain the power of both characters into an attack of the first person in the chain (which ever direction you choose to do the chain). Again it is never clear if you are chaining power, stamina or strength, as the chain still has the effect of a single person. Plus once used, everyone in your team will have empty bars so you are open to enemy attacks galore. And with Flee, you can flee but you need to do a three key sequence to achieve the right to flee. The third battle is easy enough that you can either win or run away but when you come to leave the jungle you are faced with your forth battle and the reason why you may rage quit. Your forth battle is with a Lion type creature who has a mother load of health and some heavy handed attacks. You will die quickly if you can not master the blocking key sequence.. Oh and did I forget to mention that the key sequence for blocking or Fleeing, is now any random combination of between three to ten key strokes that must be done in a blink on an eye. And trying to bounce between which of your two characters has enough fight bar filled to make an attack, via the mouse, just leaves you open to a world of hurt as it only takes two hits from Mr Lion to see you flop to the ground dead. I have still yet to pass this battle after several hours of trying, crying and quit rage. Even my lap top has put out a Domestic Violence Order against me because of this (Please laptop, let me play, I promise not to hit you in the screen again, ok yes and no more thumping your keyboard. HEY! I only through you once across the room! The second time was an accident!). Saving your game is at points marked by a pillar with an orb, but there is only one before you first real battle. Graphics is a mix of 3D environment and 2D characters, which works but leaves you felling that it is a little tardy. You can choose resolution and whether you want full screen or windowed in options. Music is good but nothing to write home about but you can turn it down in options (Yaaay!), the bar for volume though is a flame and you need to guess where up and down is for volume. A final flaw to this game is when you exit, twice on me the game has effected Steam, I have not been able to use my mouse other than to scroll up and down. Even shutting and restarting Steam will not fix it. Only through restarting your computer will Steam function properly, so be wary of this. I am hesitant to call this a review, on the clear fact that I can not break through the forth battle and progress with the game. A better player may push through and find this a rather good game, and I will state that the idea of combining an RPG adventure with a Tekken type battle engine was sound but it fells poorly implemented. Anyhow, I have awash this game from my memoirs and am now going on a round the world trip with my laptop, to patch up our grievances and rekindle our love for one another. Bon Voyage. Controls are super weird, instructions direct you to press 'action' or 'cancel' without ever telling you what those are. Once you've configured them to something less weird (by exiting the game entirely as the only way to get back to the menu as far as I could tell), the battle scene tells you you can change mode but none of the modes are really explained nor self-explanatory. One thing about the battles seems to be a need to press key sequences DDR-style remarkably rapidly from the very beginning. It might have worked to just mash all the keys, I didn't try it. I was disinterested and confused enough at this point (random encounters, inexplicable controls, unfun quicktime events, all undesirable features) that I quit.
Andoran Skye 1.5 is... hard to properly classify as a game. It's more like a bunch of loose ideas and asset flips got dumped in a blender to try make some kind of game without any clear idea from the developers where to start, finish, or what to do inbetween. The visuals are on par with the game design. The cleanest way to describe this is a kind of platformer/2D side scrolling point and click adventure with (very) lightweight JRPG style combat. The technical implementation here is bad, no doubt about it. No support for resolutions beyond HD, despite the 2016 release date, and even the HD support is dicey and subpar. That's enough to fail this, but let's go down the rabbit hole. The artwork and visuals are so badly mismatched I almost got an embolism playing this. The backgrounds look kind of okay, if low poly, fine. Then you get some janky hideous grade school drawings (I won't even dignify that scribble by calling it "art") for character portraits and other things. Then some things are retro pixel, the kind of lazy "art" that people who can't do graphics properly use. I understand that people who can't produce video game graphics properly will use pixel "art" to cover that up, but why then did they go ahead with the awful hand produced drawings of some characters? And the backgrounds aren't completely bad, so why can't the whole game look closer to that? Let's assume we're blind and can't see the bad graphics. Gameplay is king right? Not here. It's an incohesive mess. Janky controls, like this was meant for console, but yeah, I can see Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft, despite their low standards for entry to consoles, would absolutely say "no" to this. Is this a platformer? A JRPG? Something between? Not really... hybrid games are successful when they meet or exceed the sum of their parts. This mess is so bad, not only is it less than the sum of it's parts but JRPGs actually got worse as a genre because of it.
Developer Response!
The developer has weighed in to inform everyone they didn't read the Developer Usage Rules for Steam "partners", or they deliberately ignored the part where Valve says:
Though it may be tempting, not every review needs to be responded to. A developer response will frequently draw more attention than the original statement, potentially turning a small issue into a much larger community discussion. It's also not a good idea to use this feature to refute customer opinions. Your direct attention can be seen as validation or a defensive attempt to silence your customers.
The developer seems to think I'm accusing them of stealing assets from someone, reading is essential, my review explicitly says "like". If the developer bothered to actually read my review, I later go into detail on some of the processes that amateur/failed developers like OMAG Official use when incapable of professional video game development, when creating assets, in an attempt to explain to gamers some reasons behind why this game looks so bad. Certainly, many of the assets in the game bear strong resemblance to many store assets, and given the extremely poor examples of the drawings, we're expected to believe that the same obviously untalented creator also did the high poly, quality textured 3D elephant assets and things in the background.... suspicious, isn't it? And why are there multiple elephant assets that don't resemble each other? Did the developer spend 90% of the game development time here creating different high quality elephant assets and just phone the rest in on purpose? You gotta be kidding me. To put some context around just how bad of a failure Andoran Skye 1.5 was, I reviewed both my review and public consensus... not from "participation trophy" reviews which are easily faked or generally meaningless, but the raw data about the game, which shows a startling finding. The game is arguably one of the least popular games on Steam... the peak player count (at launch) was only 3! Presumably the developer, their pet cat and their therapist. It never recovered from this lofty point, and only ever has someone launch the game every few months... just one person. The objective fact of my review is supported by this data. The developer admits to stalking me and poring over my profile, it's unclear why, this is obviously creepy stuff. The developer attempts to explain the crap graphics in the game as deliberate. So, they made it look bad on purpose? How is that supposed to appeal to gamers? So the developer made a strawman and then attacked it in an attempt to discredit a factual review, and on the way admitted to being a creepy stalker, a failed game developer and then tried to cover up their failure as something they wanted to do on purpose. Riiight. Nothing in the developers misguided and pointless response here changes any of the facts about the game or fixes any of the defects. My original review stands unaltered. Edit: The developer once more insists they didn't flip any of the badly made assets in this train wreck of a "game", but then creates some story where I've made a direct accusation that they did, I merely discuss the possibility. Why is it always the failed amateur developers from the USA who can't tolerate the fact that they're failed developers and lose their temper like little man babies? It's irrelevant, but you can see from the hysterical, ranting response from the developer some reasons why the game failed so badly. The developer falsely claims that I have "attacked" them, simply by presenting objective facts about a game to gamers. We can only assume the developers unhinged, grossly misproportional response here is the result of a guilty conscience.
Выглядит явно не как игра для ПК Да это не треш, и,возможно даже где-нибудь на первой соньке смотрелась бы неплохо, но я не могу рекомендовать ее в стиме.
This is a great game, i really want more from the developers and maybe some dlcs to add on to the game, i also enjoy the story and the humor of the game. great game! i do recommend!!!!!!!!
