This game is a fun Match 3 game. There are options to play it with Timer and Limited Moves, just Timer or Limited Moves, or neither. I chose to play this as Limited Moves only. For this, it's like a puzzle game. You build statues which represent power-ups. You match tiles of the corresponding color to be able to use them. The big difference between this and other Match 3 games with Limited Moves is that most of the time you MUST use the power-ups wisely to finish each level. Some Levels aren't possible to reach goals without this. I really enjoy this puzzle aspect with no time pressure so I can think about it. ** UPDATE ** I highly recommend playing this game with limited moves and no timer. Highly. It's definitely a puzzle game, and it gets really challenging. I'm in some of the later levels, and I've had to repeat a few of them 3 or 4 times. Some I do complete the first time through. It's important to take note of which power-up combinations go together well, in which order they go together well, and what is out there on the board and where. Sometimes it takes a good run and some luck. However, moving two tuts together to swap them and destroy the board is the best. Two tuts, the best...
Cheap and uninspired match-three time waster. Grants three modes of play: timed challenge, untimed casual and relaxation modes. Mediocre art, questionably useful powerups that can be upgraded by coins earned through clearing levels, and ho-hum story.
A mix of Luxor and Candy Crush, except those games are better than this. The artstyle is appalling, the 3D models look creepy, the 'power-ups' are next to useless and the gameplay is extremely slow. Not to mention that some of these levels are near impossible to complete and requires luck. The only redeeming quality is the music, but that's it.
The Achievements are wonky and the story is laughable at best, but the puzzles are well done and I have played too much of this.
If you can get it for a cheap price this is a good but quite standard match 3 game. It is nothing special and the story doesn't add anything to the game at all. Also, there is only 1 background music track which gets old rather quickly. If you feel like playing a simple Match 3 game that will last you about 8 hours, then this might be for you. Just don't expect any miracles. Just to be fair: there are better (cheap) Match 3 games out there.
Fun and relaxing - I like a game that lets me choose from several play modes.
Ancient Stories: Gods of Egypt is a casual match-three puzzle adventure developed by Panda Games Studio and published by Alawar Casual, built around a mythological Egyptian backdrop that frames its puzzle progression with a light narrative arc. The game places players in a stylized version of ancient Egypt where a tyrannical pharaoh seeks forbidden power through dark rituals, threatening the stability of the kingdom. Rather than presenting a deeply cinematic storyline, the game uses this premise as thematic motivation, giving context to the steady climb through dozens of increasingly complex puzzle boards. The result is a colorful, accessible experience that leans heavily into familiar genre mechanics while dressing them in vibrant Egyptian iconography. At its foundation, the gameplay follows traditional match-three rules: align three or more identical tiles to clear them from the board and advance toward level objectives. However, the structure of individual stages adds layers of variation. Some levels focus purely on clearing a set number of specific tiles, while others introduce obstacles such as locked pieces, destructible barriers, or limited-move challenges that require careful planning. As players progress, more intricate board layouts demand attention not only to immediate matches but also to chain reactions and combo setups. Creating larger matches yields powerful bonuses that can clear entire rows, columns, or clusters of tiles, rewarding foresight and encouraging players to think beyond simple three-piece combinations. One of the strengths of Ancient Stories: Gods of Egypt lies in its pacing. New mechanics are introduced gradually, allowing players to adapt before the difficulty increases. Special tiles and godly abilities become available as you advance, offering strategic options that can turn the tide of particularly tricky boards. These abilities add a subtle layer of resource management, as players must decide when to deploy powerful effects for maximum impact. Occasional boss-style encounters further break up the rhythm of standard levels, requiring players to focus on specific objectives or deplete enemy health through effective matching patterns. While these encounters do not dramatically alter the core gameplay loop, they provide welcome variation that keeps the campaign from feeling repetitive too quickly. Visually, the game embraces a bright and decorative aesthetic inspired by ancient Egyptian art and symbolism. Tiles are adorned with hieroglyphic motifs and vibrant colors, while background scenes depict temples, desert landscapes, and ornate chambers. The interface is clean and easy to navigate, emphasizing clarity over extravagance. Animated effects accompanying successful matches add a satisfying sense of feedback without overwhelming the screen. Sound design supports the atmosphere with light, thematic music and subtle sound cues that reinforce successful moves and power activations. Though not groundbreaking in presentation, the audiovisual elements contribute to a cohesive and approachable experience. The difficulty options allow the game to appeal to a broad audience. Players seeking a relaxed experience can choose modes without strict time constraints, focusing on steady progression and puzzle-solving at their own pace. Those who prefer greater challenge can engage with more demanding settings that impose move limits or tighter objectives. This flexibility ensures that the game functions well both as a casual time-filler and as a mildly strategic puzzle experience for more dedicated players. While Ancient Stories: Gods of Egypt delivers a polished and enjoyable match-three journey, it does not significantly innovate within the genre. Many of its mechanics will feel familiar to veterans of casual puzzle games, and the narrative remains relatively light, serving primarily as framing rather than as a deeply developed story. Nonetheless, its consistent pacing, visually appealing theme, and variety of level objectives help maintain engagement across its campaign. For players who appreciate accessible puzzle design wrapped in a mythological setting, it offers a satisfying and competently executed adventure that prioritizes steady progression and approachable challenge over dramatic reinvention. war ganz cool
I hate the falling cups levels, they are often near impossible to beat, because the cups refuse to fall.
