An Eye for Optical Theory 1666 is a short point & click horror adventure game with a focus on atmosphere and narrative. It is the plague year of 1666 and Isaac Newton, in lockdown at his home, has been thinking on the topic of Optics, and planning a series of experiments. Will you help him?

Bring forth the Spectrum; Brief and gory, go in blind; 'Tis gay, 'tis it not?
An illuminating and discomforting short story about the lesser-known antics of a well-known historical figure. Does some interesting things with the ZX Spectrum aesthetic, and made me genuinely question what I was doing.
Involves eye horror and a solid stomach, but other than that I weirdly enjoyed this! The lengths we traverse to understand something.
Isaac Newton was an odd chap! This game made me squirm and I loved it. 'Tis gay, is it not?
I went into this expecting a quick horror game, this was not atmospheric, let alone interesting. All the game really does is tell you that isaac newton pokes his eye with a specific type of needle called a bodkin. Something he really did do and this didn't really expand upon in any meaningful way. Instead the game is more clicking objects with poorly delivered voice lines before you repeatedly stab newton in the eye over and over until the game crashes. It has rather cheerful steady blip bloop music that if anything makes this come across as more a satire and criticism of newton than anything else and even if that was all the intention with the extra gay joke thrown in there. I can't really see this as anything other than a guy wanted to do some visual storytelling in the style of faith and showed every visual on the steam page. While there's an argument for delivering the story to more people, you should still be capable of delivering the story through a unique creative method that adds to the story and atmosphere you're going for rather than show the story through archaic visuals while playing nothing music with a cheerful amateur voice actor with gay jokes shoved in. Almost everything about this game except for the close up visuals fight the very concept of what the game is trying to be. No atmosphere, no expanded narrative that delivers in any way and here's for wasting my time and 2$ with something I could have gotten more weight out of in a quick google search. However the upcoming game based on the demo I played does seem to be something special so I'd recommend giving that a look.
very short, but interesting point & click title.
