Amnesia: The Bunker is an extremely well executed horror game. Overall, I highly recommend it. The gameplay is incredibly well done, and is in my opinion the best in the series; I would describe it as a mix of Darkwood and Alien: Isolation, which are two of my favorite horror titles. There is a variety of puzzles, but nothing too confusing or obtuse. There is just as much variety in your options to approach them. I'm not one for replaying games, but the developers have added randomized locations for key items as well as harder difficulties to add replay-ability. The game looks and sounds incredible. The art direction is very well done, and the atmosphere of being in a French WW1 bunker is dark and unique. The story is straightforward but perfectly executed, fitting the smaller scope of this game compared to the other Amnesia titles. You find information out of chronological order, leading to a fun sort of puzzle where you piece together what happened in the bunker while your character was comatose from events in the prologue.

Every market we collect.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Poland over the last 30 days: the 21 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 12 places towards #1, and the 2,501 moves with no price cut behind them went 1 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Fear in horror games is subjective, of course, but here it feels like they tried to evoke it using overly obvious and predictable triggers. There is only one monster in the bunker, and it appears for very specific reasons. Sometimes, naturally, it pops out via scripted events—catching you before you can hide or trapping you in a dead end—but the real fear there is having to reload a save and make the long trek back. I’ll admit, though: it can be genuinely unnerving right up until that first failure, before you finally come face-to-face with your pursuer.Because its design is a failure. Yes, Frictional’s games never really aimed to scare (in *SOMA*, for instance, they would have been better off including more puzzles instead of monsters—something the developers themselves acknowledged by adding an option to disable them); their creatures always lurk in the shadows, and it’s best not to look at them too closely. But this is a different case: the game is designed around confrontation, yet that confrontation isn't scary. There is nothing compelling about the dull, repetitive stealth gameplay... Overall, the game isn't bad, though it's clearly not for everyone—it's more for fans of the series. It didn't really click with me, but a lot of work went into it and the design is actually pretty good, so I'll leave a positive review...
It's alright. You get to listen to a beast harm itself and howl in confusion.

What the game does right is atmosphere and it does it better than I'd argue the past amnesia games have managed. One welcome surprise was just how fluid the game felt vs in the past their games have felt just so open and empty. I really appreciated this more controlled and compact version of a game where the focus was on building a dooming atmosphere and an actually scary A.I for the game. Speaking of the A.I the devs did an amazing job here the monster can learn to adapt to you checking rooms you often visit, randomly checking your hiding spots, and much more. Nothing was more scary than accidentally making too much noise only for the monster to be heard ripping through the walls towards your location and as you sprint away you could still hear it tearing through the walls to follow you. The game at first makes you feel totally helpless, hanging on to each revolver bullet you managed to find. Though the game slowly lets you collect bigger and better weapons and items, becoming a force the monster has to be more careful on how it charges you. This was a nice addition rather than being faced with no weapons considering you are trapped in a WW1 bunker after all. I only really have one complaint and that's just how overpowered you end up becoming near the end, almost totally ruining the monsters fear factor when you have bullets and bombs all in your inventory. Though the devs have done more than enough to let you decide just how difficult you want the game, once you beat it you unlock new game+ and an entire selection of custom game settings to make things easier or a true nightmare. One thing that was interesting and unexpected was the neat modding community the game also has including mods, addons, and custom maps and even stories. Overall if you are a fan of resident evil games and past amnesia titles give this a shot for sure. I'd argue even if you hated past amnesia games through that thought away and pick this one up. 9/10 If you are interested in more reviews and finding great games follow my curator page here https://store.steampowered.com/curator/44835038-The-Critic
