From the creators of Amnesia: The Dark Descent and Dear Esther comes a new first-person horrorgame that will drag you to the depths of greed, power and madness. It will bury its snout into your ribs and it will eat your heart.

I would like to point out some shortcomings first. Its shorter than The Dark Decent. Survival Mechanics have been dialed down a lot too as we have an unlimited flashlight. There is not very much to do and the puzzles are quite simpler. The notes don't really have any instructions to proceed like in the first game. Now lets get to the good parts. Its much darker in tone than the first game. The stakes are higher and lot grimmer. The story is really good and a step-up from the previous game. The ending seriously was unexpected. Overall despite its many flaws, its a good game to play as a walking simulator. Though the pigs were really creepy and horrifying.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

This is what happens when you task essentially the inventors of walking simulator - one of the worst things to happen to video games - with making a sequel to one of the best and most influential horror games ever made. It's very short (taking my time, I finished it two times and it took less than five hours combined), there's barely any gameplay, and if a few Shakespearean dialogues and "deep" notes to read don't sound as exciting as solving interesting puzzles while evading monsters using the environment and physics like in the original Amnesia, then skip this pretentious piece of media, move straight to Amnesia: The Bunker, and don't look back. And if you want to see another sequel the Chinese Room has butchered, check out Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2.
I will say that the narrative and story were stronger than in The Dark Descent, especially the last section of the game was heavy and really sad. It's really atmospheric and the story is strong but the gameplay is worse than in Dark Descent. A Machine for Pigs is more linear, doesn't have the sanity mechanic from The Dark Descent, and our lamp has infinite power. It's not a scary game (in a sense that you won't really have many scary encounters or jumpscares) but some of the themes and notes in this game are eerie. I think it's an interesting game to play.
to be honest, Amnesia : A Machine for Pigs has the right seasonings on storytelling. it fits the old time period atmosphere perfectly since The Dark Descent. the build up is intense and serves the player a good plot. but it all falls short when the true essence of franchise did not appear here. the bread and butter of Amnesia, the sanity system, the lantern management, the frequent monster chase, the multiple endings, are all absent. the game strives by these mechanics before, why not integrate them here too? not just that, certain people encountered crashes at the same spot and hasn't been fixed since 2013, there's just a couple of chase scene and none of them embark the same spook the first game did, the game is noticeably shorter too. thus said, maybe A Machine for Pigs will be appreciated better if they didn't forget what makes Amnesia, an Amnesia. 5/10
Super underrated game, its a really solid sequal to Dark Descent, i love the whole concept of the game of an old industrial factory underground that has humanoid brute pigs roaming around the place, the horror theme was well done and the overall vsuals really go with the vibe well. The downsides about this game is that the story is pretty meh and the puzzles are so bone easy that ypu shouldn't even call them puzzles. But the biggest downside are the random crashes which is just really frustrating when you are completly focused in the vibe when playing. The only advantage this game has over Dark Descent is that the gameplay is a lot more fun, but other than that, Dark Descent has a better story and has no crashes. This game is a solid 7.5/10.
you walk around and there are some sounds happening and music changing to try to create the atmosphere. Boring.
