a solid boomer shooter with some truly beautiful level art. And a level that I'm 99% is a reference to the opening of diakatana? Which is cool if its true.
I enjoyed AMID EVIL a lot more than I expected, and I feel that it is relatively underrated. The levels are large, visually and aesthetically stunning, and very entertaining to complete. Level design is amazing honestly, probably my favorite aspect of the game. Weapon roster is small but finely tuned, every weapon feels impactful and fun to use. Having completely different and unique enemies for each of AMID EVIL's 7 episodes is a novel aspect and really sets the game apart. Not every enemy archetype is vastly different and some of them feel a little too similar to each other, but the enemy variety really kept the game feeling fresh until the end. Not super long but also not very short, I really liked this game's runtime. I played on the secret EVIL difficulty (which is tucked away in the game's Difficulty Select stage) and I thought the challenge was satisfying and balanced, without creating artificial difficulty. And THE BLACK LABYRINTH DLC is AMAZING HOLY COW! A must play. Overall, I think AMID EVIL doesn't get quite enough recognition when compared to its highly praised boomer shooter brethren, such as DUSK, PRODEUS or CULTIC. Which is a shame, because this game is so great!

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Incredible achievement in level design in the last level. They really nailed the fractal designs which you can actually walk and play. Apart from it, the first levels seem like mindless boomer shooter maps but when you advance in the game you see that it is actually a very cleverly designed fantasy-scifi game which some areas and designs remind of Unreal 1. Yes. This game has some serious Unreal-1 - Nali aspect on it. But not at the beginning. So I advise you to just spend your precious hours. You'll not regret it.
Pretty good, Amid Evil is a high speed boomer shooter with great feeling weapons. Everything runs super smooth and the main draw is it feels like a modern take on Quake, Doom, or UT, where you can slaughter massive hoards of monsters. Enemy's, weapons, and bosses are interesting and each have their own mechanic. You can literally shoot planets with one wand. As for weakness's: Level design while very interesting in some parts (actually hard to find secrets) feels a bit dragged out for the sake of padding hours, enemy's constantly spawn behind me to trap me which gets tedious after the 20th time it happens. Personal preference, but I think they over did the floatyness. Some of the platforming is difficult because I overshoot due to it. (Land on the correct platform and proceed to slide right off) There's also an unfortunate contrast where if you fall off a high ledge you suddenly lose all your velocity. Overall solid game, I had a blast.
While this is personally my least favourite FPS in the New Blood FPS Trilogy, I can't bring myself to call it the worst in the trilogy because it is still an amazing game and without a question is the best visually, but the gameplay is also superb. Must play if you're into boomer shooters
Just got done with the first couple levels, and I've gotta say, I'm liking it a lot so far! If you're a fan of classic FPS games, this may feel like if Quake and Heretic had a baby that looks much better than either. Levels are expansive, weapons are fun, enemy behavior and animation REALLY remind me of OG Quake (in a good way), and the movement is tight and responsive. The only thing I don't like is that the ray-tracing tanks the performance really badly. If you don't have at least a 30 series Nvidia card then don't bother with ray-tracing. EDIT: HOLY CRAP THERE'S ROCKET JUMPING!
If you're looking for a boomer shooter with fun weapons that stand out, a no nonsense and engaging story, easy to grasp yet challenging levels and a brilliant soundtrack through the whole game, get it. Another winner from New Blood. DLC is grand too.
I replayed this game and its DLC, the level design is the best i have ever seen in games.
It's okay, lore rich and well designed in level and concept. The weapons, music and mechanics though really do not keep me engaged. The enemy ai is pretty stupid and despite their variety follow the "rush the player" pathing. Which was tolerable until I got to the arcane expanse and realized the fatal flaw with the weapons which in a game like this is crucial. Only weapon I liked was the Ice morning star and the planetoid launcher, everything else felt mid. Mobility was also another drawback, verticle was like a 1 foot jump, but running speed with inertia disabled was like an ice skating rink.
It's good, but! Let's get the good stuff out of the way: The visual level design is gorgeous. The physics are good overall. The weapons are mostly fun, the Celestial Staff is top tier. The "but!" stuff (uhm...): I don't care much for the enemy design, if anything they remind me of Descent's enemies. They look a bit bland and hard to grasp visually in-game, they do look good in screenshots though ^^ The map design while visually stunning sometimes makes it hard to identify enemies at a distance. And I don't really like how every world is bound to a certain map design philosophy. So one world mainly has wide open levels, the next mainly claustrophobic ones and so on. Now if it's a theme that you don't like, then you'll be stuck with it for quite some time in that world and that can easily become a bit of chore really. Speaking of which: The Forges can f right off. Seriously NB, release a patch that removes them from the game, thank you. When it comes to the physics I only have two minor issues. Sometimes it feels as if jump inputs don't properly register when jumping off ledges or while bunny hopping. And getting out of the water is a somewhat weird procedure. Last but not least and not criticism as such, but the difficulty is too low, IMHO. I know about "Evil" difficulty, but still I think "Hard" should be much, uhm, harder, it hardly feels like "Hard". (okay, I'll stop now...) Nevertheless, this is a good game and you should buy it.
