**"Alumni"** is a decent puzzle game that delivers solid value at the right price point. It took me around 4 hours to complete, though part of that time was due to a frustrating puzzle where the correct code didn’t work as expected. Even the developer’s walkthrough featured a code that didn’t align with the puzzle’s solution, which was disappointing. The lack of hints might make this a tough choice for players who rely on in-game assistance. Thankfully, the discussion boards were helpful for one particularly tricky puzzle that wasn’t very intuitive. Overall, it’s a decent game for puzzle enthusiasts, but be prepared for a few hiccups along the way.
Die Puzzle waren sehr einfach gehalten zum Teil musste man auch nur eine Notiz im Raum finden die es dann direkt auflöst.. Alles in allem war die Idee wirklich nett aber auch recht kurz...
Played this with another person together on one screen to solve the puzzles. A very entertaining nearly three hours of good puzzles. Not too difficult but quite entertaining. Would definitely recommend this game for a few hours of light relief. Good value for money. Managed the whole game with no clues but got lucky on a couple of the puzzles.
a nice short escape room puzzle game. Better than the first 2 of this dev. it is very straight forward and much simpler. it is kinda rough around the edges with some graphical errors but it doesn't effect the game play at all. overall i recommend it on sale as you can beat it in around one and half hour.
ALUMNI, developed and published by M9 Games, is a first-person 3D escape room adventure that blends atmospheric exploration with layered puzzle-solving in a narrative framed around memory and dislocation. The story places you in the role of a scientist who accidentally exposes himself to an experimental time-altering serum, only to awaken within a distorted reconstruction of his former college campus. What begins as a scientific mishap unfolds into a journey through familiar yet unsettling environments, where the key to returning to the present lies in unraveling intricate environmental puzzles scattered throughout Ridgeway College. The core gameplay follows classic escape room principles translated into a fully explorable 3D space. Players navigate hallways, classrooms, laboratories, and offices, examining objects closely and collecting items to use later. Progression depends entirely on logical deduction and careful observation. There are no combat sequences or timed challenges; instead, the experience is deliberately paced, encouraging thoughtful engagement. Each room contains clues embedded in visual details, documents, or subtle environmental cues. Success comes from connecting these hints and applying inventory items in meaningful ways. The design emphasizes player agency. ALUMNI avoids excessive hand-holding, allowing players to interpret puzzles independently. This approach can be rewarding for those who enjoy solving problems without overt guidance, as breakthroughs feel earned rather than scripted. However, it also means that certain puzzles may feel opaque to players who prefer clearer instruction or gradual tutorials. The absence of intrusive hints enhances immersion but can occasionally lead to moments of trial and error if a clue is overlooked. Visually, the game adopts a subdued, atmospheric style. The college campus setting is rendered with moody lighting and realistic architectural detail, creating a sense of quiet isolation. While the graphics are not cutting-edge, they effectively convey a haunting familiarity. The emptiness of the halls and classrooms enhances the narrative tone, reinforcing the protagonist’s displacement within his own memories. Sound design plays a subtle yet important role, with ambient audio and restrained musical cues adding tension without overwhelming the player’s focus. Puzzle design is varied, ranging from straightforward item combination tasks to more elaborate multi-step challenges that require understanding how several clues interrelate. Some puzzles rely on numerical codes, mechanical devices, or pattern recognition, while others hinge on environmental storytelling. The interconnected layout of the campus allows for backtracking, with certain areas unlocking only after solving earlier challenges. This structure fosters a cohesive sense of place, as rooms do not exist in isolation but contribute to a larger spatial puzzle. Narratively, ALUMNI unfolds gradually. The fragmented memories and environmental hints provide insight into the protagonist’s past, blending personal reflection with the central mystery of the time experiment. While the story remains understated, it adds emotional context to the puzzle-solving process. Rather than presenting a dramatic cinematic plot, the narrative emerges organically through exploration and discovery. Technically, the game performs reliably on modest hardware and includes standard quality-of-life features such as save slots and subtitle support. The interface is functional and unobtrusive, designed to keep attention on the environment rather than menus. Achievements add optional objectives for players interested in thorough exploration, but they do not significantly alter the core experience. Ultimately, ALUMNI stands as a focused indie escape room adventure that prioritizes atmosphere and logical deduction over spectacle. It rewards patience, attention to detail, and methodical thinking. While its minimalist presentation and challenging puzzles may not appeal to everyone, particularly those seeking action or heavily guided storytelling, it succeeds in delivering a cohesive and immersive puzzle experience. For players who appreciate thoughtful environmental design and the satisfaction of solving intricate escape room challenges, ALUMNI offers a contemplative and engaging journey through memory and mystery. finished in about 8 hours. i needed help a few times from a walkthrough, otherwise i was able to solve most puzzles. some were harder than others, but don't overthink them as that can get you in trouble. a couple i couldn't figure out even after watching a walkthrough! it was fun, engaging, and the ending really surprised me and gave me a laugh. clever little game, smooth controls, good graphics. i recommend it and give it 3.5 stars out of 5.
FREAKING AWESOME JUST ON THE FIRST ROOM. LOVE THE ENVIRONMENT AND THE FRIENDLY CONTROLS. LOVE THE WAY THE PUZZLE SO NATURALLY ARE PLACED 10/10 CAN'T WAIT TO PLAY MORE! SUPER POSITIVE.
