I enjoy casual puzzle and escape room games. It's a shame that this game is so uninteresting. The sound is sombre and repetitive. The graphics are basic and in dull shades of brown and beige. The puzzles are all simple and there's not a great many of them considering the scope of the game across multiple areas. I played it to the end, but I think it is overpriced for what it is. I'd still recommend it to someone who was just discovering escape room style games and wanted a gentle introduction.
This is a great game. The puzzles pull you in, some are easy and then bam! you have to sit down and really think! That's the fun of it. That feeling of finding the solution is why we play. The artwork is superb and very detailed, take your time and browse around. The soundtrack is soothing. The developer is very responsive if you really get stuck, and do try all the M9 games. I highly recommend this game.
Although a quick play, I definitely enjoyed this game, The puzzles were fun and challenging to me, although I got frustrated a few times due to....myself. Overall, I recommend this game, with a few caveats/suggestions below. The game looks decent enough. Not everything has to be hyper realistic and I think with a game like this, graphics really don't matter. I didn't seem to be able to figure out how to adjust my resolution, even though I adjusted in the settings. Oh well, full screen it is, I guess. The game sounds are nice, but the jump in volume with the sliders is far too drastic. I turned down sound just a smidge and almost couldn't hear anything at all. The lightening sound effect is SO loud. The sound puzzle in the stairwell is where I met my first frustration. I did not realize that the game music was drowning out the clue, so I had a very hard time getting through that one and ended up having to look up a video because I was getting so frustrated. The hints could use some work. It took me far too long to realize that you have to click the lock symbol to actually get the hint... I was thinking the hints were time based and shouting at the game to JUST GIVE ME THE FRIGGIN HINT... In my dramatics, I ended up clicking all over the screen and managed to figure it out. Along with hint activation being difficult, the hints are a bit obvious. There were a few clues that essentially just said "Look around you". Well, yeah. Most of the time, the hint was something a person would already naturally be inclined to do. I may have just been riding the struggle bus because I'm stupid, but still. There were a few puzzles that didn't have any hints attached to them at all, and I got STUCK. One of which was because I didn't realize I needed to use something because I didn't have a way to "write on it". During multiple puzzles I found myself needing to write stuff down because trying to do things from memory was just not going to happen (the letter and number puzzles with angles, the piano, the guitar, the stones...). That being said, it would be nice to have an in game scratchpad or way to write on clues so that I don't have to try and find a piece of paper. Would also be nice to be able to look at items in your inventory while you're trying to do the puzzle. It was frustrating having to switch back and forth. Even though everything above makes it seem like I didn't enjoy the game, I assure you, I had a great time!
This is a cute & short (1-2 hours) escape room game. The puzzles weren't super challenging--it helps to take a picture of the clue to avoid endlessly walking back and forth between the clue and the puzzle you need to solve. The main character spoke in a strangely nasal, deadpan voice--not the most engaging narration ever. The story was mostly superficial (searching for a painting, but really you're just solving a bunch of puzzles to escape a mansion). Overall, I'd say this is worth playing for a pleasant, light puzzle experience that won't make you think too hard or send you running for a walkthrough.
Makes you think!
Pretty terrible, but not the worst puzzle game I've played. Most of the puzzles are easy, revolve around numbering/ordering, and are generally uninspired. The engine and world is pretty janky too, the mansion is very drab and theres quite a few parts where you can see out of the bounds of the world. Pressing C crashes the game for some reason and setting graphics to 'high' limits the FPS to ~70 for no reason. Voice acting is pretty crappy, but I suppose its better than not having it... Do not pay more than $1.50 for this game.
This is quite possibly the most slapdash Escape Room game I've ever played. The graphics look like royalty free Unity assets, the plot is nonsensical, the controls are sluggish, the puzzles are too obtuse for my liking, and I've heard more convincing acting in a high school play. I'm very disappointed and will not be supporting this dev in the future if their output continues at this level of quality.
Another winner by M9 Games.
A fun game...had to pause and think on some of the puzzles. Well done!
I love puzzle games, but this one just missed the mark. The puzzle solutions are uninspired, leading to an overall unsatisfactory player experience. I found myself getting stuck multiple times because the solution was far more simplistic and boring than I was anticipating. I can handle not figuring out a puzzle, but if the solution is a simple matter of ordering/alphabetizing, it just feels like a waste. The voice acting is pretty bad at times, too, but I would've looked past that if the puzzles were better. Also, Hints are very hit or miss, but they're mostly miss. Either there's no hints available at all, or the hints slap you in the face with the answer. Kinda kills the vibe.
