ALPEN GHOUL: Prologue

Alpen Ghoul is a great horror game. The main mechanic of the game is sliding, which makes the chase way more intense. I didn't encounter any bugs while sliding around at every corner. What's neat is that it can be played like a speedrunning game since the sliding mechanic works so well. Seriously, I really like the sliding. I would totally play a parkour/racing game that uses it. The graphics and atmosphere are on point. The mountain ambiance helps set the scary mood. The devs captured the creepy ''snow at night'' vibe super well. I think that it's also easy to see where the big guy is (mostly due to the model/lighting), so it doesn't feel cheap when he gets you. There's also lots of hidden secrets to find. I'm still working on that as of writing this review. Also, there's no reason not to get the game. It's free! I played horror games with way less charm and polish that charged 20$, It's a short, thrilling experience that uses a unique mechanic that was clearly made with care. I can't wait to see what the devs do next!

Very tense and lots of fun, classic survival horror feels with great atmosphere to boot. Took quite a few times to get the hang of it (I panicked a lot LOL) but absolutely worth playing.

The game is really cool and good to spend some time in it. I think one of the big points it's the fact that you have to memorize some paths to try to reach the cabin, the YETI will find you and you have to slide or hide, but it's really hard and that's what makes the game funnier, I really had some jumpscares. The music is lovely, I found some tapes and I'm still trying to know what they mean, but it's a really cool game and don't need a lot of mechanics or a lot of stuff to do, the core gameplay perfectly fits the controls, difficulty and proposal of the game. It's hard to find the cabin, but I saw some people that reached the end, but I think there's no problems with the difficulty, as I am not a person who download a game and expect to end in 20 minutes without any difficulties, otherwise, what would be the funny? And it's a prologue! Good game to play!

This is an actually good horror game. This should be way more popular. It's actually scary, has a banger soundtrack, good graphics, and a cool monster. This should be more popular.

In ALPEN GHOUL you are forced to escape a horrible creature. The game has a good premise and the graphics are extremely polished, although, it has some caveats that will make the experience and exploration far more frustrating than it should be; the monster AI seems constantly aware of where you are, and attempting to flee upon being spotted is nearly, if not, impossible, especially due what looks like teleportation from the yetis part. The game doesn't make it very clear what you should do, making you believe you should slide down the mountain when you actually should be going up. The path is circular and it will be confusing until you get the hang of it. Overall, for a free game, I can recommend it. It's fun although frustrating, but some things need to be fixed prior to a full, paid release.
