Virtually unplayable due to horrible mouse controls. Moving the mouse s l o w l y will spin the camera around and crazy fast speeds, yet moving the mouse fast will slow the camera down to a crawl. If I had to guess, I would say the devs did this intentionally to purposefully slow you down when you panic in the game (kind of like how you can't run in a dream despite your best efforts). In any event, it makes for a horrid experience. And the camera movement isn't smooth--when you do move the mouse, the camera angle "jumps" by a few degrees, creating very jarring movement. Even with these atrocious controls, I still tried my best to continue through the game, but it was too much. Trying to land the reticule on one specific item to interact with is a chore that quickly becomes extremely frustrating. Moving around is slow, and when you click on something and get the feedback/description, you need to click the mouse *again* to regain movement and camera control. The whole experience was unbearable. Hard pass.
ALONE? is a psychological horror experience that builds its foundation around mystery, isolation, and the gradual feeling that reality is beginning to unravel. Rather than introducing immediate danger through constant combat or fast-paced action, the game attempts to create fear through uncertainty and atmosphere. It places players in a situation where familiar places become unsettling and ordinary surroundings slowly transform into something far more disturbing. The game relies heavily on the idea that fear often becomes stronger when players do not fully understand what is happening around them. The story begins with a personal reason for returning home after receiving a troubling message from a missing sister. What initially appears to be a simple search for answers quickly develops into a much darker journey involving strange events and supernatural influences. The narrative uses a familiar horror setup, but it benefits from having emotional stakes connected directly to the protagonist. Instead of exploring terrifying places out of curiosity alone, players are pushed forward by the need to uncover what happened and understand the increasingly bizarre events surrounding them. Atmosphere becomes one of the game's most important strengths. From the opening moments, the world is designed to create discomfort through darkness, weather effects, and a constant feeling of isolation. The environments attempt to establish tension long before obvious threats appear. Empty hallways, abandoned spaces, and disturbing locations create the sense that danger could emerge at any moment. Horror often becomes more effective when the environment itself creates anxiety, and ALONE? consistently tries to maintain that feeling throughout exploration. The locations explored throughout the game also help create variety within the experience. Instead of keeping players confined to a single setting, the journey gradually expands into increasingly disturbing areas. As progression continues, environments become darker and more unsettling, reinforcing the feeling that players are moving further away from normal reality. The changing settings help prevent the visual design from becoming repetitive and allow the game to introduce different types of tension as the story unfolds. Exploration appears to play a major role throughout the experience. Players are encouraged to interact with objects and investigate their surroundings rather than simply moving directly toward objectives. This level of interaction helps create a stronger sense of immersion because environments feel more active and believable. Searching rooms and examining details also contributes to the mystery, making exploration feel connected to the larger narrative rather than existing only as a method of reaching the next area. Psychological horror elements become increasingly noticeable as the game progresses. The world itself seems designed to behave unpredictably, creating situations where players cannot fully trust what they see. Familiar locations may change, strange events occur without explanation, and the line between reality and illusion becomes increasingly unclear. This uncertainty helps maintain tension because players rarely feel completely comfortable or secure in their surroundings. Sound design also plays a major role in supporting the overall atmosphere. Horror games frequently depend on audio to create anticipation, and ALONE? appears to use environmental sounds and background effects to maintain pressure. Small noises, distant sounds, and subtle audio cues help create uneasiness even during quieter moments. The atmosphere often feels strongest when players are simply walking through empty spaces and waiting for something to happen. The game also includes multiple endings, giving players additional reasons to revisit the experience and search for different outcomes. Replay value becomes more meaningful when hidden details and alternate conclusions encourage players to pay closer attention to the story and world. However, some rough edges become apparent during the experience. Technical issues and occasional gameplay inconsistencies can interrupt immersion and reduce the impact of certain moments. There are also instances where the pacing and use of horror techniques may not feel entirely balanced. While some scenes create effective tension, others may rely more heavily on familiar horror methods that do not always achieve the same impact. Despite these shortcomings, ALONE? succeeds in delivering an experience that clearly prioritizes atmosphere and psychological tension. It understands that fear can emerge from uncertainty just as much as direct danger and attempts to create a world where players constantly question what lies ahead. For players who enjoy first-person horror experiences centered around exploration, supernatural mystery, and unsettling environments, ALONE? offers a journey that delivers suspense and atmosphere throughout much of its experience. Beneath some technical imperfections is a game that genuinely tries to immerse players in a dark and disturbing psychological adventure. Rating: 6/10

This is a really awesome and creepy game! The jump scares actually got me, the soundtrack is really tension inducing, the atmosphere is immersion inducing, and the objectives are not that tricky. Absolutely recommended, thank you Deceptive Games. :) (Fun fact, I've known about this game since it's release and it was the first game to make me know about this dev.)
ehh, wonky af mouse controls lol.
avoid this, awful game, horrible controls, buggy mess, notes stuck in the screen force you to reload 2/10
man this game is unoptimized as shi. it won't even run on my laptop . then in pc it spikes the temps up so fast had to set a table fan onto it.
