This port is disappointing. Yes Agricola is an amazing board game but the publisher just got extremely lazy with this adaptation. Agricola is a five player game, but this port only allows for four players. Without reason some of the cards have been removed, the total number of cards is severely reduced. The interface is poor. At the largest resolution you cant see the entire gameboard. The added round cards and your own farm are on separate screens. Meaning that without looking at anyone else's farm you still have three separate windows which all have dont fit on any one screen. The interface is not intuitive in the slightest. The AI is weirdly slow, and at the highest level makes nonsense choices such as taking 1 wood over 6 clay. There is no way to review the total cards available in the game, such as compendium. This is important because new content was added. I did not expect drafting but it would have been nice given that it has been in high demand in other Asmodee games. But the publisher in general does not follow up with expansions or added functionality. I love Agricola. I do not think people should support this poor port.
I love Agricola, so I can't recommend it for those who is an enthusiast of Agricola or who wanna giving it a try - The drafting mode is removed. This game is definitely boring when you can only get random occupation cards and improvement cards - The speed of AI is acceptable (for me) on my PC, but it's extremely stupid. The "master" AI can only takes woods (takes 1 wood over 6 clay), build room, and then gets bagging cards. - The UI is hard to use Tried some of the supported resolutions. None of them works smoothly. You have to waste time switching the view for clicking the confirm button Hope the iOS app (developed by playdek) can be ported to PC

So, my friend and I decided to give this a shot because we love Agricola so much, DESPITE all of the negative reviews. Believe the bad reviews, y'all. This is bad. This is REALLY bad. The UI cannot be scaled, and important items (like checkmarks to move forward with an action) get hidden behind your hand of occupation & improvement cards. You have to switch between screens constantly to view your farm, opponent farms, and the action spaces, even if you have a really big monitor. Also, fencing is implemented incorrectly - my friend couldn't build a new pasture attached to his old one despite having more than enough wood to do so. It would only let him subdivide one, despite having an occupation that let him build more fence pieces for free, and having a significant amount of wood. Until this incredibly poorly ported game is fixed, don't buy it. Even then I'd hesitate, because Asmodee really screwed the pooch on a game that already had a well made version on iOS but waited multiple years to bother bringing to Android or Steam.
It is still Agricola. So if you absolutely want to play a digital version of it, then this does the job. However, the UI is awful. The board state is so important in a game like this. But, they hide a lot of information by default. You have to hunt around just to get a basic idea of what your opponents are up to. You have to click through to read cards or see action descriptions and you can't have those be on by default. I have a big enough screen that I should be able to see all of the action spaces and my board at the same time, but they opted for a really zoomed in view. You can't even see all of the action spaces at once, so you spend a lot of time scrolling back and forth to figure out what spaces are available and where other players have gone. I appreciate when a digital board game has an undo feature and they do have one. But instead of undoing the last action, they undo the entire turn. It works as an undo, however it could be less frustrating to not be so destructive. The developers could really use some tips from an implementation like Through the Ages. That's a game with a lot of board state and moving pieces that did the UI amazingly well.
The good news: Agricola in your PC. With async play. At the best possible moment. The bad news: - Direct port of the Android version. I have 2560x1440, but I have to scroll between screens to get a global vision of how the game is going - No family game - No drafting - You can't choose which deck to use (only two implemented for now) - No notifications when it is your turn (android or Steam) - No way to go directly to the game when loading (yeah, you'll get the initial animation, which you can shorten by 2 secs when clicking) - Well Fed achievement ("Finish a 5 player game with 5 family members and no begging cards") in a 4-player max game shows that either they have no idea of what they are programming, or they already are working in DLC and they aren't careful with the achievements. - Yeah, the game is pretty, but a classic view would have been SO helpful for those that have played the boardgame. Being able to choose classic or revised edition as well (yeah, I know I'm dreaming) - LOTS of bugs that will break your games - ... Veredict: don't buy YET. Less of a disaster than Terraforming Mars (come on, Asmodee, who are you hiring to develop your best IPs?), but still not good enough. Will be glad to edit this when it's more usable.
Lots of bugs. Some of them are with the basic rules rather than the cards (and occur intermittently). One example: In my last game I had the option to build the either the cheaper fireplace (2 clay) or the more expensive fireplace (3 clay). I obviously picked the cheaper one, and it then didn't allow me to build it in spite of it being available and having enough to pay for it. With a game as tight as Agricola this bug can ruin a strategy. Since Asmodee do not respond on the community board it's very hard to know if anything will ever be fixed, therefore it is with regret that I cannot recommend this app.
I love Agricola, I own the board game and have played it for years! I've been really jealous of the iPhone crowd because they've had a full version of Agricola for 5+ years now and Android only has the 2 player version. So this is a great game, but the AI seems to be _really_ slow, the 1 hour of play time I have on the game is because of the AI. In the real world my friends and I usually spend close to 30 minutes to play! I don't think the AI on my computer with an i7 should take longer than 10s for each of their turns. It's like I'm waiting for the AI in Civ take their turns!
The game looks unfinished and totally untested. Bunch of minor bugs like buttons with missing text, animals dissapear for no reason, major improvement cards unplayable with all requierements met, achievement for 5-player game win with 4-player max allowed in the game (really?), dumb AI even at master level, etc. And finally I got a single player game constantly crashing in round 12. I think it's enough. I'm a huge, huge fan of Agricola, stacked literally hundreds of hours in both boardgame and iOS-version. But this is not an Agricola. This is a joke, even not considering a lack of content compared to iOS-version. I've requested refund for the first time in Steam ever. :( Believe all the cons-reviews, it's a garbage.
it's not like i hadn't been warned by numerous other reviews, but at 60% off i thought i'd give it a try. the UI really is *that* bad, i applied for a refund not even half an hour later. granted, keeping oversight can already be tricky with the board game version but the digital edition seriously raises the bar for how confusing a game layout can be. even at $4.59 it's a waste of money. also, seeing how the repeated criticism clearly falls on deaf ears, there's really no point hoping that we're ever going to see any kind of improvement. sad, really. it's a great game, dismal only in digital.
The game plays well and is entertaining, but there are nowhere near enough Occupation and Minor improvement cards that you get to enjoy in the boardgame. So after a short while there is no longer any variety. The game should offer additional card packs.
