Game still has game breaking bugs after years of release. Game is fun, but the higher you get in multiplayer, the more frustrating it becomes. Balance sucks, plenty of cheaters swith 10 days old accounts, even Conq+ you meet map hackers having a great time. Devs clearly dont give ♥♥♥♥ about the quality, they just pump dlcs instead of getting the already released ♥♥♥♥ together.
Have really been enjoying this - there's been a lot of thought put into the UI to make things easier to manage than AoE2. Regular balance updates, nice graphics that maintain good performance / frames per second. Overall a great incarnation of a real time strategy game - great work!
Half the game is locked behind DLC including maps. I'm going back to AoE2
AoE2-AoK was one of the very first PC games I ever played.. and it's always a game I go back to for a solid month at a time. My parents bought me the game from PC World (RIP) sometime during the late 1990s. We had just upgraded our family computer to Windows 98 from 95 and my cousin had taught me how to load the AoE2 launcher onto a floppy disc (so that I could always play it, regardless of whether I had the disc or not). Anyway.. since AoE 2 I've been waiting for a new AoE game that takes much of what AoE2 did masterfully and try to implement this into something which looks more modern with improved AI and which runs on a better engine. I think AoE4 has done this to an extent. There are new changes to gameplay and progression but this doesn't overshadow the mechanics that made AoE2 so good. Progression is as smooth as it was in AoE2 (you'll notice this once you get to understand the new way to advance Ages). I love being able to group as many troops as I want into a bunch of different units and have each unit assigned to a hotkey. Being able to use forestry to stealth troop is a brilliant addiction, and now having the ability to man archers on walls is a more than welcome addition. So.. is it as good as AoE2? Probably not. AoE2 is in a league of its own imo and will probably always have the top spot for me (unless something extraordinary comes along.. a 'The Lord of the Rings' of gaming type of special if you will, but with all that said, what the studio has managed to do with AoE4 has to be applauded. They've given us what we should have got in AoE3 and I can't wait to see what AoE5 has in store.. that's assuming the studio keeps the same people who worked on AoE4 around and they retain the same vision they clearly had for AoE4: don't fix what's not broken.. just season it a little. I put this game at a solid 8/10. It probably would have got a 9 (here it comes) if it weren't for all the times I wanted to play a map and discover I have to buy an expansion pack to play that particular one lol. I'm not against expansion packs at all. I'm against teasing/advertising them where you select a map while setting a game up. That's a bit icky imo. Do your advertising by all means but I'd rather it be something that's showcased on the homepage instead. It's not something that's a huge issue but it's enough for me to knock the score down a little.
Oyun harika ama eşleştirme sistemi rezalet, düzeltilmesi lazım.
Was an amazing game, after a break now it just habitually crashes. Terrible
