About

Build, Gather and Fight in a Desperate Last Stand Against an Onslaught of Never Ending Evil!
The darkness is an entity of evil. Some say it is the manifestation of human fear and nightmares, others say it is a wandering mass of damned souls haunting us. The origin of the darkness itself is unknown, but one thing for certain is that we can keep it at bay through the power of light and fire.
The complete, full release of Age of Darkness: Final Stand is available now and includes Co-operative Multiplayer, Campaign, and Survival modes.

Brace yourself against huge tidal waves of Nightmares. Leveraging an internally developed technology called ‘SwarmTech’ allows the game to render over 70,000 enemy units on the screen at one time. These enemy legions claw their way up through seething fissures in the earth to reinforce ‘The Veil’.

Light up a rich, complex, procedurally generated map to claim territory back from ‘The Veil’. A dynamic living death fog that conceals enemies and drains life from your troops. Holding the line against this terror is not for the faint of heart.

Borrowing from the the roguelite genre, Malices are random afflictions placed on the player during every Death Night, unraveling the best made plans. Conversely, if a Death Night is survived, you may decide between three randomly selected Blessings, enriching the experience and giving your army a much needed edge.

Lead the charge against the horrors of the night with powerful and unique Heroes. Using special abilities gained from leveling up, these Heroes can be key to turning the tide of a desperate battle. But beware, the Nightmares have Elite roaming champions of their own that drop precious resources when killed, posing an extreme and ever-present threat to your expansion.

Co-Op Multiplayer - Team up with a friend in co-op multiplayer to survive the onslaught, defend humanity from the forces beyond the Veil, and reclaim the light together
Epic Campaign - Award winning single-player campaign full of epic battles and dire threats
Survival Mode - Put your endurance and skills to the test in the endlessly replayable Survival Mode
Award-Winning SwarmTech™ Technology – Witness the internally developed ‘SwarmTech’ technology, allowing the game to render over 70,000 enemy AI units on the screen at one time.
Unique Heroes & Factions – Choose Heroes reigning from three distinct Factions - The Order, Rebellion & Volatists - each with their own playstyles, abilities, bonuses and army units that offer a unique gameplay experience.
Dynamic Day & Night Cycle – Fight to reclaim territory by day and survive against the relentless horrors that come with every night.
Living Death Fog – Encounter The Veil, a living death fog that conceals terrors and adds a new layer of danger to your survival, which must be kept at bay through the power of the Light.
Malices, Blessings & Hardships – Embrace roguelite mechanics that make every run unpredictable and unique.
Elite Nightmares – Hunt down wandering powerful enemies for Dark Essence, each requiring different tactics and strategies to defeat.
Horror and Embolden Status Effects - Embolden your army to aid them in battle, but ensure they are protected from the brutal effects of being Horrified.
Terrifying Nightmare Foes – Face off against horrifying monsters like Spitters, Crushers, and Wraiths, each wielding unique abilities.

I have obsessively watched my friends play their copy of They Are BIllions but have never able to successfully finish a base-defense RTS game alone. My partner and I were looking for a coop version so that he could carry me and still get his RTS fix. Game mechanics are almost exactly like They Are Billions, but thankfully without the annoying electricity requirement. I often neglect spending my resources because I get engrossed in my hero (1/6 selected from game start) leading a campaign with their unique level-up abilities to clear the hordes' bases. Using the keyboard for easier navigation of building options is a major plus, kudos to whomever designed that. My tip: Invest in lighting and horde path reveal buildings so that the scaries/"nightmares" don't spawn in the dark areas of your base and attack from within.
Okay, just to be sure, I tried the game once again. I indeed HATE this game, but I WANT to like it so much. Here are the reasons why I dislike it so much. But first, the things I do like. I like having units that can level up, this includes the hero units. I like the concept as well but there are some huge glaring flaws that are driving me nuts. Especially the RTS label on games like this when they are technically Tactical Games. But hey, people don't believe in words meaning what they should anymore. This game has a lot of concepts put into it but not a single one of them done well. It also looks abandoned. Did I mention the obscene micromanagement? You don't have to make any mistakes but you are punished for them anyways. #1. Too much micro management. Way too much. Your units have the same AI as the enemy units. Just rush into danger without a care for self preservation. If you "micromanage" your units they can fare much better than if you just post them and leave them. It's well past the year 2000 folks... Let's "improve games" no one stands like a turret to fight. They move dodge and take advantage of Terrain. #2. Fog of war is utter garbage. It is too restrictive. You can't build in area you know is clear, but oh noe's a mob might have spawned from the netherzone in it... by the way... that totes CAN happen too. Game will spawn units in any fog of war, just to increase difficulty. This is "contrived nonsense". #3. Resource collection. Why am I capped at only being able to have 50 logs? Just 2 Logging sites can fill up my MAX in a single go. Guess what? If I am busy focusing on a battle I will lose an entire round of resource collection JUST because. Why do they have to come in large monolithic bulk? Why can't resources just trickle up a little bit? Sure I get it, doing things this way can help with making the games load better... but you have to wait a whole 30 seconds to get 1 log when your production is 49 but you need 50 to upgrade your base so you have to wait another 30 seconds just to WASTE 48 resources. This is "intentionally frustrating" design. Why ruin your game over something so simple? Reality does not operate this way. Sure it's a game... but how about not being lame with just to increase the difficulty curve? You have to MicroManage every single cycle to "minimize waste" and when you can easily waste 100% of your cycle... this is simply "unacceptable". It is only to make things more difficult for the pure sake of making it difficult and for no other reason. #4. Upgrades, most upgrades have no effect on your hero unit. Hero Unit is "technically" weak and often times standard units can easily outshine them... until you spend the time to get them up to higher levels where they can clear out a lot of mobs in a single go every minute or two. #5. Overall Design, this game now looks abandoned. The incorporates a little of everything without any real thought. Units will level up once. But they are just as effective at max level as they are at minimum. Except for health. Even when a unit levels up, they still have to hit twice to take out the weakest unit... which incidentally is the same amount of times they have to do at minimum. Yes, I know they might take 1 less hit to take out bigger bosses but during a mob? It changes nothing. This is POOR balancing and what I call "uselessness". #6. Unit pathing and targeting. Units can and WILL get stuck on a single enemy. Even when you have your targeting bias set to closest unit they will refuse to attack that unit and pick a unit farther away aggroing even more units while refusing to deal with the one already chewing on them. It's crazy and too much like "death lock" which is what it is. Your unit will die and be about as effective as a wet sloppy kiss for the enemy. I am tired of it, I am sick of playing games where FUN is the last item on the list that is focused on. No care is given to the dynamics of the game. Just a real time that pretending to be a turn based game due to the excessive waits being applied to economic processes.

Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 1.14/day in the week to Jul 30 → 1.43/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,402 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Unfortunately it got abandoned by the devs before being completely done. It is OKAY but it could've been so much more.
This is a good game that had the potential to be a great game. Everything this game offers is great, with one single flaw that repeats in nearly every aspect of it: it needs more. More factions to choose from, greater differences between factions, more units to make, more buildings to construct, more map variety to enjoy, more enemy diversity to keep the combat engaging, more technologies to expand gameplay. But like I said, what is there is great. Its just a shame that there is not more of it. The base-building, economy, and fortifications are really spot-on. The graphics and animations are really nice. The grand spectacle of the massive battles is impressive. The biggest flaws of the game is the complete lack of basic quality of life features; the biggest one is that there being no way to center your camera on a selected unit that is not already part of a designated hotkey group. This forces you to scour the map trying to find it, which is hard because the mini-map does not highlight the selected unit in any way to differentiate it from the rest of your units and buildings. These are basic features that RTS games have had since BEFRE the year 2000. I find the fact that these features are not in this game to be crazy, and continually frustrating while playing. The second worst part of this game is the complete lack of map variety. Every map is a randomized version of the same map. There is no significant deviation on a macro scale. Sure, the differently shaped or sized forests, or the nearest open clearing, or the number of narrow chokes around your stating location, and more, can drastically impact your starting few minutes; but the map as a whole is the same overall blueprint. It gets boring fast. The third biggest flaw, in my opinion, is the lack of diversity you, as a player, get to choose from. There are only three factions to choose from, and they are not very different from each other. The downright anemic selection of military units you can build is embarrassing. Weak melee unit, strong melee unit. Weak ranged unit, strong ranged unit. One ranged siege weapon only, unless you play the one faction that gets a second option. Now that is a lot of complaining, but I want reiterate: what is here is really good. It just lacks MORE. I recommend this game if you like what you see and understand that there is probably not much in the way of replay-ability. This is a good game that had the potential to be phenomenal.
Devs just rug pulled this game, it was enjoyable as an early access game. But would not consider this a complete game. Would only recommend if free or highly discounted
Abandoned Game. Do Not Expect any updates. You get what you get
