I really enjoyed this creepy cute game! I tend to go more for indie games with cute graphics. This fit the bill and had a creepy story line so I really enjoyed it. I did beat it in 8 hours with 86% complete, but there is a second run through option. I will maybe play again and shoot for the 100% completion. For a few bucks, I am happy with it. The creator seems to have some other similar styled games as well.
I LOVE THIS GAME!! The art style, the humor, the story... i just love it all! Absolutely love this game and i recommend it to so many people!! <3
Agatha Knife is a delightfully unconventional point-and-click adventure developed and published by Mango Protocol that thrives on blending dark comedy with philosophical satire. At the center of the story is Agatha, a seven-year-old girl who has an enormous appetite for meat but also genuinely cares for the animals raised in her mother's struggling butcher shop. Rather than abandoning either of her passions, she invents an outrageous solution by creating a religion designed to convince livestock that being slaughtered is a noble path to paradise. This bizarre premise immediately sets the tone for an adventure that is unapologetically eccentric, balancing innocent childhood imagination with themes that are both humorous and morally unsettling. The game's narrative is its greatest achievement. Instead of relying on conventional heroes and villains, it presents a cast of eccentric personalities whose conversations explore topics such as religion, ethics, consumerism, and human hypocrisy. Agatha's childish optimism often clashes with the grim realities surrounding her, creating situations that are equally hilarious and thought-provoking. The writing rarely takes itself too seriously, yet beneath the absurd jokes lies surprisingly intelligent social commentary. Every location introduces memorable encounters that reward curiosity, making dialogue as important as puzzle-solving throughout the adventure. Gameplay follows the traditional structure of classic point-and-click adventures. Players explore a hand-crafted world, collect useful items, interact with unusual objects, and solve inventory-based puzzles that gradually unlock new areas and story developments. The challenges generally favor logical thinking over frustrating complexity, allowing the story to remain the primary focus. While veteran adventure game fans may find some puzzles relatively straightforward, the steady pacing ensures that progress feels natural without excessive trial and error. Exploration is consistently rewarding because nearly every object and character contains amusing dialogue or expands upon the game's eccentric universe. Visually, Agatha Knife stands out through its colorful hand-drawn presentation. The cartoon-inspired art style contrasts brilliantly with the game's disturbing subject matter, creating an atmosphere that is both inviting and unsettling. Character designs are expressive and distinctive, helping every individual leave a lasting impression despite relatively simple animations. The environments are packed with quirky details that encourage players to examine everything, while the soundtrack complements the strange tone with cheerful melodies that occasionally shift into more mysterious and eerie compositions when the story demands it. One of the game's strongest qualities is its confidence in exploring controversial ideas without becoming preachy. Rather than presenting straightforward moral lessons, it encourages players to think about the contradictions within belief systems, personal values, and society itself. Agatha's innocent reasoning often exposes uncomfortable truths in surprisingly humorous ways, making the experience far more intellectually engaging than its whimsical visuals initially suggest. The satire remains sharp throughout the journey, and the game consistently challenges expectations without sacrificing its entertaining personality. The relatively compact length works in the game's favor, delivering a complete adventure without unnecessary filler. Optional interactions, hidden jokes, and Steam achievements provide additional reasons to thoroughly investigate every area. Players familiar with Mango Protocol's interconnected universe will appreciate various references, but newcomers can easily enjoy the story as a standalone experience. The adventure remains accessible thanks to its intuitive interface and approachable puzzle design, making it suitable for both genre veterans and those exploring point-and-click games for the first time. Despite its many strengths, Agatha Knife is not designed for everyone. Players expecting fast-paced gameplay or highly demanding puzzles may find the mechanics too simple, while its intentionally provocative humor and treatment of religion and animal slaughter could alienate some audiences. The game depends heavily on dialogue and storytelling, meaning players who prefer action-oriented experiences may lose interest before reaching its most meaningful narrative moments. Occasional backtracking is also present, although it rarely becomes a significant obstacle due to the game's manageable scope. Agatha Knife ultimately succeeds because it commits wholeheartedly to its unusual concept and never compromises its identity. Its combination of imaginative storytelling, memorable characters, clever satire, and distinctive visual style transforms what could have been a simple comedy into a surprisingly thoughtful adventure. The game demonstrates how independent developers can tackle sensitive themes with creativity and originality while delivering an entertaining experience filled with memorable moments. Anyone looking for a narrative-driven adventure that dares to be different will find Agatha Knife to be one of the more distinctive point-and-click titles available on Steam. Rating: 9/10
I'm not religious, but I guess that's just how it works.
