About

You are Maeve, ex-mining engineer for the Astral Resource Corporation - ARC - a galactic megacorp that profits by draining entire planets of their resources.
As you take on your own mining claim, you'll explore the remnants of a doomed science expedition and the abandoned facilities they've left behind as Maeve strives to build a stable life of her own, outside of ARC’s control.
Armed with nothing but her basic mining equipment, tales from her beloved grandad, and her loyal AI drone companion, can you unravel the mystery of an incredibly powerful new element and uncover the dark secrets that the corpos would rather keep buried?

Use the simple but powerful modular building system to create your own mining operations hub filled with dozens of types of refining, processing and crafting stations.
Grow plants, raise fish and prospect for gems in your cozy habitats which you can decorate with almost any item you come across.

Descend underground and use lasers, explosives, drills and more to gather hundreds of different resources from your mining claim then refine them and craft new tools for exploration.
Upgrade your suit and mining drone companion to explore deeper and further into the world.

Built from the ground-up with story at its heart, uncover a dystopian corporate conspiracy and decide how far you’re willing to go for the truth.

very good Story and fun.
Originally this caught my attention during a Next Fest iirc. Seemed like it had some potential to keep my attention, so I followed it, and oh what a hidden gem it turned out to be. First off, it really nails the game-loop of go out, explore, return to base, expand, upgrade, venture further, repeat. When resource gathering starts to feel a little like a grind, the story pushes you to explore "just a little further." The story itself is serviceable, better than most survival crafters, but nothing too surprising. The voice acting handles the heavy lifting here and does it well. If you're looking for a approachable, casual, survival crafter to scratch the itch, look no further.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

I don't really want to give this a negative review, but I also can't suggest it. I'm giving it a thumbs up, and I will explain why at the bottom, but first, the reasons I don't like the game, and won't be playing any more of it. It technically supports ultrawide, but the right and left 1/3 of your screen will be black or - WAY worse - white bars in cutscenes. That's what I want in a cutscene, 60% of the screen being a flashbang. The options menu doesn't have a master volume bar, you have to adjust everything individually, and those meters your can't click and drag, you have to click the general spot for the level you want them and pray you hit it correctly - and even then it just straight up doesn't effect cutscenes. All volume MAXED and good-♥♥♥♥♥♥♥-bye eardrums. You move SLOW. I don't want to wander around a world when the "sprint" speed is slower than a lot of game's walk speed. But honestly, the most egregious thing though? The store page has an entire section dedicated to "play your way" and shows options for all the fiddly little ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ nonsense survival game meters. It talks about customizing the difficulty and making the game truly yours, from hard core survival sim to cozy sim. This isn't TECHNICALLY a lie. You can make changes. However, you cannot fully customize it, because you can't...turn the nonsense off. I don't want to worry about artificial game lengthening ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ like weight limits. I can INCREASE the weight limit, I can LOWER it, I can't REMOVE it though. Same with all the other fiddly nonsense survival gamey meter management crap. So no, you cannot in fact, play your way. Outside of that, the game looks awesome, sounds awesome, the voice acting is actually ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ phenomenal. I'm sure there is a lot more excellence to be seen and heard. Ultimately, the reason I'm still suggesting it besides it not in ANY WAY shape or form being for me, the Dev's commitment to no AI is pleasing, so I won't be refunding it, because I want to support that type of development. I hope this dev makes money off of this, moves forward, and makes something better. Something I might actually want to play.
I played the demo for maybe 15 minutes before I pulled the trigger and purchased. Very enjoyable survival base building game. Controls are taking a bit to get used to. The graphics are a bit low res, but once immersed in the story and play, I didn't notice or care. 11 Hours in at this point and going strong.
I enjoyed my time in AETHUS! It's a story-focused survival game, which is a rare niche. The story is decent, the game is very pretty. Despite the rough edges (solo developper), I had a fun 20 hours! I think there is a bit too much grind especially after the (very light) automation aspects, which in my opinion could have been twice as strong as they are currently without any downside.
This is a great game, can't believe I've only put 15hrs in. I've exited and saved just because I have to get back to my life, not because I'm bored or stuck. There is a lot of back and forth, running around, but it's not as bad as the negative reviews might lead you to believe. You make enough progress between running around that it never becomes a grind. It could use a hover bike or something for longer trips, maybe the devs will do something with that. What would be cool is multiplayer combat somehow, maybe you could play as Arc vs. (spoiler). Either way, I still have a whole sub level to explore. The amount of things I've unlocked I assumed I was closing in on the end game, but some of these players running over a hundred hours!
Great game!
Aethus nails the thing that matters most: immersion. The world pulls you in and the storyline kept me genuinely invested from start to finish. It's the kind of game where you lose track of time. My one real gripe is how progression is gated. Too often you're blocked by keycards or scripted story checkpoints: artificial walls that pull you out of the world the game works so hard to build. It's a missed opportunity, because the systems for something better are already here. Progression could be tied to in-game mechanics, like crafting the right gear to move forward. The game does this occasionally, but even then it hides the required blueprint behind the same kind of artificial gating. The far more satisfying version of this game gates progress through the mining mechanic: making you hunt for specific resources to advance. That would reward exploration and reinforce the immersion instead of breaking it. Still very much worth playing. Just imagine how good it could've been.

Very cool game. I had a ton of fun until the 14-hour mark when I started to get a bit bored - nothing about the game though, I prefer shorter stories.
