After playing this for a decent bit, I already really find myself enjoying the overall atmosphere and mechanics of the game, especially with how integrated the hud is into the cockpit. The perk selections are cool, the weapons are fun to shoot, and you really do feel tanky yet agile, quite befitting of a hovertank. Although, if I had ONE major gripe with the game, the only thing I'd readily want adjusted is how it sounds to ram/shoot enemies and receive hits. Or well, it's the *lack* of sounds in that regard. If they'd just add some sort of metallic thud or crunch upon ramming a target, or the sizzle of a laser beam/projectile striking your hull, I'd easily consider it to be a top tier roguelike game. They certainly did a great job at the sound design for everything else, but that specific part being neglected is oddly distracting over time. There's certainly a nice amount of content with a lot of RNG to the perks and map layouts, so I still feel like I've gotten my money's worth after gettin it on sale, and would definitely recommend it to others (especially since I reckon it wouldn't be too difficult to patch in hit sounds, if they decided to get around to it at least. The one thankful thing to note is that explosions still have respective sounds, it's just mainly bullets and ramming). Just know that it ain't a totally perfect experience either, and that it still feels a tad rough around the edges in certain areas (especially since it somehow crashed on me once, but hasn't done it again so far).
I refunded this game. I gave it a fair shake for several missions before I even considered refunding. My issue is how grindy the game is. It would have taken several hours of gameplay to even unlock another set of guns for the tank, much less any of the upgraded permanent perks. With similar roguelikes I have played, and I have played a lot of them, at the very least you have some freedom of choice starting out after the initial missions for the tutorial with a basic loadout. I.E., at least you have a second set of guns to choose from, a different pilot or chasse, etc. With this game, you are stuck with the same loadout for a lot of runs before you can even swap your guns. Speaking of guns, the starter gun obviously needed some better balancing, because it has abysmal dps. The bare bones are there for this one. Solid movement, solid gunplay, and a rocking soundtrack. But some things just don't feel quite right in the finished product. There is no feedback when you are getting hit, other than a repetitive voiceline about watching your six. Speaking of voicelines, they are all extremely repetitive. The gun sounds need to be punched up a little bit. They don't match the supposed size of the weapons you are using. Speaking of size, the player model feels a little too big compared to the other props in the caverns. There are bucket loaders in the caverns just as props, and they look like toys compared to the supposed size of the tank you are in. It doesn't feel quite right. I get that this is supposed to feel claustrophobic, and it gets that right, but I would have either made some of the props a little larger, or shrank the player model a bit. There are points of reference you can use as well, like ladders, which give you a real sense of your size, and it doesn't match up. Overall, I would give this about a 5 out of 10 overall. The bones are there. The rest of it just doesn't feel right to me, and with the grindy-ness of the unlocks, this game just wasn't worth going any further with for me. If the devs were to update the game with more polish and some better balancing, i would definitely come back, but as it stands, I will not be playing this one any further.
For the first 3 hours ran the game just fine, however after that the issues began cropping up. issues as the game crashing mid runs, which would be fine if there were autosaves but since it is a roguelike is all progress wiped out. Fortunately all achievements you unlock and awards you get remain unlocked, unfortunately will 30% of them out of your reach since they require things such as beating the game. Which is hard to do when Unreal Engine keeps crashing mid play through. So far, after the 3 hour mark, had I 3 crashes in each of the 3 runs I tried to finish. The first crash happened right before the final boss of chapter one. The second crash happened right before the 2nd boss. And the third crash happened in the middle of the first boss fight. I can't imagine playing through more chapters where I will face more bosses past chapter 1. Hence I can not recommend the game.
My Gameplay - https://youtu.be/gNtrUFNhktM By Far one of the best Indie game that I have played in 2022 , A 110% Must buy for anyone . Its a fun casual game for everyone with amazing graphics and game mechanics . There is Tree branching style Map design where you will have to chose from two different paths leading to 2 different rooms . Eventually you will come across a final room where you will have to fight bosses . Each time you choose a path you will get an option to choose a random upgrade hidden behind a mystery box . By the time you get to the boss you will be full of upgrades and powerups , if you die you will have to start from the very first room and all the upgrades will reset . Pretty difficult boss fight btw - I tried to fight the boss like 5 times and I died every single time . Overall - 10/10 Game !! Go for it , its worth every single penny .
ehh, the game looks interesting, but it desperately needs better UX, usable GUI, balancing, and all those bugs fixed before it can even be considered worth to pick it up. For now, I thinks it is is better to skip it. Edit: After some of the last updates game crashes every time in final boss chamber. Abandonware.
A good effort, but falls short in my opinion. I dislike how you can't really fly, just only hover - and it's dependent on a resource which feels critical for boss fights. The voice acting and music is awful, but you can look past it. Gameplay has great foundations but it's brought down by the flaws.

Massive Alien forces have swamped one of your government’s secret testing facilities. So, as you have proven yourself repeatedly during these five long years of war, you have been recruited for one last mission. You’ll be piloting an experimental hover tank, the Aegis, deep into caverns right under the secret facility. We have no idea what you will be facing, but with the hover tank, you might just have a chance to complete this perilous mission, codename: Aegis Decent! Aegis Decent is a fast-paced vehicle shooter with roguelite mechanisms developed and self-published by Traega Entertainment on the 9th of July 2022 on the Steam platform. The game consists of three levels, including three boss fights with additional ascension levels unlocked if you successfully beat the last boss. There is a fair bit of grinding, so be prepared to play for quite some time before you unlock new classes and weapons. When you play the game for the first time, you’ll only have access to one class, the Combat Pilot, while the other two (S.E.R.E. Specialist and Intelligence Officer) need to be unlocked. Each class will have Potential Perks and Global Perks. The Global Perks will be visible, while the Potential Perks need to be unlocked while playing the game. Each Perk can be upgraded by using victory points which you’ll receive each time you finish the game or when you die. Some of the Perks can be upgraded up to five times, which will take place before launching your next run. The Aegis has four guns, three cannons and two artillery weapons in its arsenal. However, you’ll only start with the first gun, cannon and without artillery on your first descent. There too, you have to unlock the other weapons and artillery to make your next descent a bit easier. Here, you have to accumulate awards scores to unlock weapons and new classes. There are 44 awards divided into four categories: Combat, Enemy, Mission and Resource. You can access all the details on the loadout screen. So, here you are in front of the first arena door! But before you go through it, I strongly suggest opening the act 1 map. So, you can see how many arenas you will need to defeat before reaching the first boss and which direction you would like to take to get there. Each room will have a symbol that identifies what type of arena or area you will be entering with the legend display next to it. If you want my advice, try to pinpoint the repair bay, especially in your first couple of runs. Some areas are smaller than others but ultimately, you will have to destroy a certain number of enemy nests and units to clear the area. But, if there are gas canisters in the arena, you must destroy them to exit the arena. Most arenas have two exit doors, so make sure to access the map if you are unsure which door to go through. The gameplay is super fun, I was hooked straight away. I like to use the mouse and keyboard for these games, but you can use a Microsoft gamepad if you have one. So, A, S, D, and W keys to move your tank around, the spacebar to hover and the shift key to dash. You’ll also have another special weapon called The Disruptor, but your battery must be full to use it. And each time you dash, you’ll also use the battery energy. In regard to the hull, you have six bars on your dashboard and each time you lose a bar, your hull weakens and no more bar equals game over. Don’t despair, in most areas you have large green crates with a symbol on them; some will have scraps that you need for repair and other small in-game upgrades, while others will have ammunition or shields. When you destroy enemies, most of them will drop something. It will most likely be scraps, shields or batteries. When the arena is cleared, and you move through one of the doors, you will be able to select a Potential Perk. On your first run, they will all be unidentified. Click on them to see what they are, and they will now appear in the Potential Perks on the Class page. I haven’t managed to beat the game yet, but I fought the first and second bosses and, on several occasions, died miserably due to my hull being on the last bar. I do like the fast pace in this game, but I think the developers could have given us a bigger variety of enemy units to fight than we have now. Don’t get me wrong, it is not an easy game, but it would have been better if we had more variety. In all 11 hours of gameplay, I had one crash to the desktop about halfway through, which wasn’t ideal. And I thought I had lost all my progress as I clicked the continue game tab. In fact, I needed to click on the load profile tabs, and all my progress came back. The graphics are really good, and the game runs well most of the time. I like the randomised map acts, but ultimately, there are a certain number of arenas, and that’s it. I like the game and will keep it loaded in my library for a quick go every now and then because it is worth playing it. Positives: ~~~~~~~ + Great graphics + Fun, fast-paced and addictive to play + A large number of perks and upgrades + Partial controller support + Achievements Negatives: ~~~~~~~~ - No trading cards as yet - Crashed once to desktop - Grinding to unlock new weapons and classes Aegis Descent is a fun and fast-paced vehicle shooter. A bit grinding to unlock new weapons and classes, but worth playing. 7/10 Key provided by the developer/publisher for review purposes. Any opinions expressed are entirely my own! It's a pretty good shooter with a couple of minor quirks. It's worth the asking price and the time to play it. Works good with xbox 360 wireless controller.
I bought this game because the intro video in the store had dunta. "Dunta" is what a teenaged metalhead shouts repeteadly as he's jumping up and down on his bed playing airguitar to some thrashy guitar solo. It's a genre of music. And I like me some dunta, not gonna lie. Well, okay, there's more to it than that. I like hovertanks. I like extremely fast-firing guns, the honking blatt of the gatlings in particular. Can't tell you why, it's just pleasing to me. Well, there's a hovertank, there's some fast-firing machineguns, there's some guitars, and I dropped cash on the game before I even finished my discovery queue. Okay, okay, it's not all perfect. There's a couple wrinkles and a couple things I know are going to annoy me over time, so I should tell you more about the game. Playing this, I get the vibe of "Risk of Rain", where it's a "roguelike", sure. The maps are scrambled, there's random powerups to get and some luck can influence your final outcome. And like Risk of Rain (RoR), you need to get a move on and not dawdle too much. In RoR enemies just become more bullet-spongey. In this game, more and more hostile debuffs happen. Landmines appear in new maps, or your map gets scrambled, or certain key terminals stop working. That sort of thing. There's kind of an eye towards realism here, I mean I kind of expected the graphics to look cartoony but the areas feel... reasonable, the graphic style is believable. Though it's got that Unreal Engine thing going on where things get washed out too much by your headlamps. I wouldn't mind more variety in my areas, that said. 50% of the audio is inspired. The machineguns sound like machineguns, the Gustav cannon sounds believable, and all the rattles and clanks when you load new belts of ammo are pleasing. But enemy audio, if there's even any, is kind of weak, and there's little to no audio cues when you get hit. I genuinely like that there's no hit indicator BS, but if I'm on thin armour I think I'd start hearing the sizzles of alien insect fireworks working their fire on me. And the gameplay? It's basically Serious Sam got his brain transplanted into a hovertank. You can scootch all around, do brief sprints, hover at higher altitudes to get over annoying obstacles, while circle-strafing enemies, keeping your stronger front armour pointed towards the enemy, and managing your high-damage low-ammo weapons against your infinite ammo peashooters and heat-based weapon jams, while at the same time trying to safely close the distance so you can go land a telling blow with your sprint-ram. There's a LOT going on here. I love it! Now, there's kind of less going on with the enemies. I think there's about six in total, frankly. With all the concrete dust, headlight glare and me just never stopping moving for a second, all I could tell you is that most of them look like robot insects, and there's some kind of enemy spawner that looks like a yellow heap of trash on the ground. Alright, the verdict: On one play so far, I really enjoyed myself. I felt like I did well, and I enjoyed hovertanking and blasting on alien fools. Maybe also I love it because I read a couple reviews about people grinding the game for hours for no benefit, when I unlocked three guns and a new pilot on my first go. Maybe I also love hovertanks (I do). Did I mention I enjoyed hovertanks? Dang. Oh, finally, the theme. Something something World War 2 and then aliens?! Okay, I'm cool with that. I stopped paying attention and started shooting. Anyway, A+, several alien thumbs up. Gonna go back for more later. (Do aliens even have thumbs? Whatever.)
Aegis Descent
So far , i love the game - an unique ideea and a very good implementation of the game mechanics ( the handling of the ship is very smooth - works fine with the kb ) ) - the more you play , the more you unlock new stuff / events - what i miss is an encyclopedia of the enemies , artwork available as DLC and the fact that the game doesnt have a proper ultra widescreen implementatin ( black bars on the side ) !
