It's nice for a light, quick, silly 20 minute game.
I started up the game and hit randomize several times. Next thing I know I was given a "Sharp and Pointy" Chicken. I had a Sharp C**k the entire game. 10/10 would play again.
Summary
A short interesting adventure game with a twist where items are randomized for each playthrough. Pros + Humorous Cons - Short
Overview
ADventure Lib is a short and strangely interesting twist on the adventure genre. The story is the same each playthrough but the whole point of the game is that each playthrough completely randomizes items. So you could be a potato that has to get rid of a broom from terrorizing a pineapple, for another playthrough you could be a toilet vanquishing a kitten to save a butter knife. At times it can be quite hilarious as some combinations are just plain silly. Being an adventure game there is still the aspect of inventory and items you need to find and use at certain points. Since items are always getting randomized you really need to remember just what things are supposed to be for that playthrough. Characters do refer to the correct item so if you forget or are confused just go back to them and they will tell you what it is that they're looking for. Checking the inventory and inspecting items also gives you an explanation and description so you can kind of surmise to what they are supposed to be. Achievements are easy to get and you'll obtain most of them just by playing though some will require you to take more time collecting. It's just an extremely short point and click adventure game with all the objects scrambled at the start. So basically it's a glorified mad lib that you don't even get to fill in yourself. While the first playthrough (which will take you around ten minutes) can be mildly fun if you like "lol so random" type humor, every subsequent playthrough just...isn't. Scrambling the stuff really doesn't do anything for the replay value. If it had multiple short scenarios you might get dropped in it might be different but instead its the same very simple ten minute point and click with four small areas each time. And honestly fighting a fire breathing kitten with a potato to save the robot isn't that much different from fighting a fire breathing peasant with a toilet to save the rope or whatever. If this game were free it might be worth a short spin but for $1.99 it's just a ripoff.
If you buy a two dollar game inspired by Mad Libs, then get upset when it basically ends up being a short game of Mad Libs, then, uh... I don't know what to tell you, buddy. That's kind of on you.
I don't even know what I just finished playing. The premise of the game, everything getting shuffled, seemed funny enough. The King was a cat, I was a key. Nice. Then it got sh*tty and confusing really soon. A lot of things didn't have real hints as to what they were supposed to be. Combining random stuff to see what sticks, using random stuff to see what sticks: that was my MO for most of this horrible experience. I'm not ashamed to say I went to the Guides to see if there was a method to the madness. The guides, except one, are a mess, just like the game. The one guide that doesn't suck, tells people they shouldn't have to suffer through this atrocity, and I'm inclined to agree. Don't buy this.
A short waste of time. If there was more content it would be more interesting.
Comedy pyrite.
