The game was an impulse buy. I really liked the artstyle, that reminded me a little of super meat boy and was a nice change to all the pixel art games. The game mechanic also looked really fun, but honestly, i expected more. It feels like a lot of design decisions are not that well thought out and the developer cared more about the games presentation then about tweaking the game mechanics. The game is not bad, it just doesn't have this "wow, that's a clever puzzle game" effect on me i wished it had. The presentation is great though.
I loved this game! The controls are very good. The game eases you into each aspect of challanges. It is ideal for speed runners and casual gamers. Pro tip: Try every mode, you wont be dissapointed.
Cute and fun. A unique platformer with a straightforward but interesting mechanic. Nothing too special, but a good game for a fair price.
Adventure Lamp is a good time. I was fortunate enough to play this game in a few pre-release stages. The love Ryan has for for this game shines through in the finished product. The beauty of AL is that it keeps things simple. It never pretends to be something its not. You are taught the mechanics early and it presents you with continually challenging situations from there. Prepare to fail and love every minute of it.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kgq6LaitjtY I loved this game so much, I approced Ryan (the developer) to get a Steam Key for the game so I could play it on my YouTube channel. He replied quickly saying he would love that and I just loved every second of the game. Adventure Lamp has such a variety of different content including features I have never seen before in a game. Well done Ryan for such an amazing game and thank you for the press key. 10/10, one of the best games ever made - untamemadman
This game is quite the charmer. It's unique mechanic is the simple yet brilliant lamp hat, it's does everything, it's basically a secondary character. Think Ellie from The Last of Us, Elizabeth from Bioshock: Infinite or Alyx from Half Life! Ok maybe your hat isn't a female character you get attached to, BUT I LIKE MY HAT OK? But the hat really is a character of it's own, closest comparison would be the Companion Cube from Portal, if you could throw the cube to murder enemies. Haha! At least if you lose the hat, it'll return to you quickly. The hat is really useful and helpful, you'll really have to rely on it in the later stages when things get tricky. And oh! New Game Plus is interesting! You get to control a whole new character with totally different mechanics!
Super cute game with a lot of heart. Controls very well with a gamepad. Fun platforming challenges!
The game looks cute, but don't think that means it's going to be easy: Adventure Lamp is an extremely challenging puzzle platformer. Levels are short, allowing you to restart them quickly so that's convenient. The game also allows you to set its speed, which can be very helpful for some levels. Would recommend if you want to spend about two hours on a cute yet challenging game.
First got to play this at OGDE 2015 and it was one of my most anticipated games at the show. It's fun, cute, and the whole lantern-hat mechanic is pretty darned unique. Having a great time with it and you probably will, too ;)
I played through the game on Itch.io a few weeks ago and absolutely loved the joy of it all. There's a purity and simplicity that's quite satisfying — it goes deeper than the smiling character art and cheerful music. Every ebb and bob of the squishy psysical platforming had a clear risk and reward tension. And the ladder always made it feel clear what I had to do to move forward, even when the challenge ramped-up. I beat it rather quickly on my first attempt, but I was excited to unearth a new game plus and secret new campaign for added replayability. Once I get a chance, I'm gonna play through on that super special secret mode and see what else it unlocks!
