its fun, takes a bit getting used to the feel of the controls, excellent powering system. Unfortunately, I can't finish the game because I have a game breaking bug where I will die in the middle of cutscenes if I'm not mashing fast enough through the dialogue. The bug is related to the water mechanics in the "blue place", and I'm just constantly drowning on land so that's fun. Would love to recommend, but being unable to beat the game is a bit distraught inducing lol.
Straight away to the case! This game simultaneously tries to be a classic dungeon crawler of short length (about 12 h to complete without any additional quests) and a positive copycat of SMT:Persona 1 (the game actually manifestes almost the same Mall from the Persona). When played to the end, Advent Crossroad shows its advantages being a game made by nearly one person and its drawbacks consequently progressing from that. The most peculiar thing to admit is that game designer genuinely comprehends the basics of SMT and he|she quite interestingly implemented them in the game. The plot structure, magic pull, weakness mechanics, spell system ect., all these things come from the popular series. However, Crossroad lacks a lot of Persona complexity coming from obvious restrictions when you are a solo game maker. Well, in this context, does it really mean something bad? Not at all! Because maybe this will be your first chance to see how can be possible to make and play such games nowadays, especially if you are not well acquainted with dungeon crawlers or early Persona projects. The game is very short for its genre, like realising perhaps one of bad endings from Persona 1 (such as failling the Snow Queen quest), but it seems now such an approach is a good way to give an opportunity to let play new gamers without solid experience with the genre. In a nutshell, Advent Crossroad is pretty easy to start and even easier to finish, so the overall simplification of game mechanics affects general expectations and impressions givinig you to understand, near the end, that the game exhausted all its features. Nevertheless the music and setting vibes are great!
While I haven't finished the game just yet, I'm confident in recommending it to anyone looking for a game to scratch the classic Shin Megami Tensei DRPG itch. Here's some quick bulletpoints: The good: -Snappy turn-based combat. The weakness system is like SMT, but the combat flow reminds me more of FFX or even Octopath Traveler (though much faster than Octopath). -Interesting ability system where you customize your character's ability pools, rather than simply unlocking skills by leveling or equipping items. -The story is simple, but well-paced and keeps you engaged. -Auto-mapping for the dungeon minimaps are informative and easy to understand at-a-glance. -Excellent character and monster illustrations. -Catchy and enjoyable music. -In-game tutorials are easily accessible in the main menu and very helpful. Some potential drawbacks: -The game's story kicks off quickly, but it took a few hours for combat and party synergies to really open up. -Some mechanics could use a better introduction (though, again, everything is explained well in the tutorial section). -The main menu looks great, but some sub-menus are clunky. -Some players may not like "old school" mechanics like grid-based movement, first-person dungeons, and emphasis on status/resource management. That said, if you love those systems (or you're curious to try a game like this for the first time), Advent Crossroads is an easy recommendation.

This is a very solid if somewhat short first person dungeon crawler/jrpg hybrid, with an open skill system rather than character classes (though each character starts with some unique talents). Certainly a good buy for the price and since there aren't a whole lot of first person dungeon crawlers on the market, a definite recommendation for people like me who can't get enough of these types of games.
Fun dungeon crawler with light SMT vibes. Equipment changes your elemental affinities. You get skill points after each battle, which you can use to stack passive skills like normal attack hits twice + infuse normal attack with specific element + do more damage with specific element. The dungeon layouts feel a little disjointed and there are notable performance issues. The dungeons have oddly short draw-distance. And in two hours, I had to reboot the game twice because I got softlocked. Fortunately, you can save anywhere. So save often. If playing on Steam Deck, use Proton Experimental to slash the loading times.
Short (8-10 hour) Japanese style dungeon crawler, with a lot of MegaTen feels in the systems. Competently made, good monster art, and a nice romp if you like these kind of games.
i think it's neat. it's nice to see first person dungeon crawlers in this day and age.
