This game is definitely worth a playthrough! The art is handcrafted and BEAUTIFUL, and the localization allows the Chilean flavor of the game to come through in English without any awkwardness. The action is sharp and engaging. There's an option for two player co-op (and even couch co-op, which is sorely lacking these days!). The difficulty is real, but the combat and upgrade system does allow for building some seriously powerful combos. Especially if the game is on sale, pick it up!

Abyss Odyssey to dynamiczna mieszanka platformówki i bijatyki, która wyróżnia się unikalnym stylem graficznym i wymagającym gameplayem. Gra rzuca gracza w surrealistyczny świat pełen niebezpieczeństw i wyzwań, gdzie refleks i strategia są kluczowe. Największą siłą produkcji jest walka. System kombosów i różnorodnych broni pozwala eksperymentować i tworzyć własny styl walki.
I thought game isn't that bad until I couldn't bring back body to altar because soldier couldn't jump on the platform and I got stuck. For free this game can get a pass but don't ever pay for this. Also movement and fighting are so stiff and clunky, only good things about this game is art style
Artstyle 10/10 Gameplay 0/10 Story 1/10 Fun 0/10 Im so sorry for the art direction that is wasten on a game like this, I cant understand how the developers of Zenoclash ended up making this failure of combat system
In a sea of sidescrolling "Lite RPGs"/"Rogue Lites"/Beat'Em'Ups, there's still nothing else quite like Abyss Odyssey (for better and worse). The game has always resonated with me despite it's numerous flaws. The biggest issue is the obnoxious screen tearing (even with V-Sync). The combat is clunky though fairly "readable", artistically and aurally the game shines (voice acting aside). Abyss Odyssey has a unique atmosphere and IMO a compelling central loop. Recommended on a heavy sale.
Abyss Odyssey is a stylish and ambitious roguelite with fighting‑game DNA. The combat is deep but sometimes clunky, the procedural levels are uneven, and the difficulty can feel random. Still, the unique art style, character variety, and the ability to play as enemies make it stand out. Not perfect, but definitely memorable. Worth trying if you enjoy technical combat and unusual design.
I love ACE Team's work from a more artistic sum-of-its-parts perspective than just a pure gameplay one. I haven't played this one in over 10 years, but I still remember how it looks, sounds, and feels to this day. It's a good one. 👍👍👍
I can understand the criticism directed at the game (lack of content, at times confusing visual style, fiddly inputs, etc.), yet I still find myself returning to the abyss again and again. I love the character design, the controls have a nostalgic Smash Bros. feel to them, running into Paganini is always a highlight, and the death mechanic is a neat idea that can sometimes help save a run. Overall, it’s an action roguelike that fits my taste perfectly for an enjoyable session every now and then.
