Excellent !
Cute little witches have more than one trick up their sleeve. In this game, you will have to give them a hand to make more and more magic potions in a given time. Alone or with friends, the only detail that is important is to have a good memory. Abracadabrew is a game where you will have to create magic potions. For this, it will be necessary to follow the different recipes to the letter. But the only problem is that the ingredients are hidden all over the room. We will therefore have to dig, to find the ingredients we need. Everything goes there, from the paw of a purple frog, to the orange mandrake. Once we have been able to find the hiding places, it will be worth memorizing them, in order to be able to find them very quickly, during the making. Abracadabrew can be played alone or with up to four players. Personally, we enjoyed it more than alone. Because firstly, we can share the tasks. And second, it's clearly more fun. Especially since alone or with others, the difficulty of the recipes does not change, which makes the solo challenge more complicated. The game has a cute art direction. We have the right to a very childish universe, with colorful decorations. And very charming witches. The music enchants us as much as the potions of our little witches. It is varied. And change, depending on the room you are in. Of course, it is true that we are so focused, that we run so everywhere, and we shout at each other. That we no longer really pay attention. To conclude, Abracadabrew is much more fun when you are lucky enough to be able to play it with others. Even with children. So yes obviously, it will be necessary to start again a hundred times before achieving all the objectives. But we have fun so easily, that we repeat the experience again and again.

Abracadabrew is a very fun little game ! The point is very simple : you have to find ingredients to brew a series of potions in a very messy room. Quite simple in its core, but, as the amount of potions, ingredients and rules increase, you and your friends must find a strategy to be as efficient as possible. For me, Abracadabrew is much more a game about communication than memory. Finding a way to communicate efficiently with your partner goes a long way into completing the last levels. As you understand, I think it's a game better experienced with friends or SO. The game offers a good sense of progression, and the last levels are quite challenging, especially if you want to unlock all the witches (you need to do a much higher score in that case). The mecanic here is simple, but it works quite nicely, for us at least, to retry most of the levels for getting these cute littles witches. As I type, the game is still in early access, so they were a few technical issues. But overall, the pleasure to play is still there. And I believe that they were fixed in the first update (not tested yet, but it was in the changelog). In a more subjective matter, I also love this game because it's sweet as honey. No death, no shooting, no arch enemy, no dark topics, Only witches struggling to find the red feather and the violet eyeball for their potion. I like to shoot at pixels and to dive into dark universes as the next guy, but sometimes you need just a witchy infusion to rest a little bit.
I had the luck to test this game in the beginning, it was a nice surprise for me to discover this litlle gold nugget developed by an independent studio. A pleasent graphic design with many levels and several skins to dress up your witches, nice coop (communication is the key, trust me) and good puzzle if you want to challenge your memory, rapidity, etc. Progressively, we can see the update/upgrade and the attentive listening of developers on ours feedback. So, i can only recommend this jewel, there is still a witch within each and every one of us (thx J.K). Try-it and good luck to beat my record :p
Simple, cute, and fun! I like the direction the development is going and the added complexity. Looking forward to updates in the future!
I must preface this review with a warning that this game is still in Early Access and subject to change. The game is a fun concept. Reminds me very much of Overcooked, though less frantic as there is more space and fewer different tasks. So it seemed promising. The gameplay loop is simple: bring ingredients to a pot. There are different types and colours of ingredients that must be matched in different combinations and ingredients are spread throughout the room and require you to open cupboards to find the right ingredients. Again, good concept. However, my biggest problem with the game is the controls. One thing that I liked about Overcooked was that the controls were frequently displayed, both in loading screens and in-game as you were playing. In this game on the other hand: I proceeded from the start screen to a character selection screen and from there into the first level, still with no explanation on how to play. Thankfully, the controls are simple and they were displayed at character select (though without any explanation). Additionally, though less annoying, navigation through the menu screens is not intuitive. Controls aside, the game is reasonably well made but a bit lacking in variety other than the combination of ingredients and complexity of recipes. Similar games will often have different level layouts, something I did not see here. And while I like peaceful games, I feel this one is a bit too peaceful (the timer is the only real constraint, with no physical obstacles for instance). In conclusion, this concept has potential and could, through early access, grow into a fun contender in the genre. It all depends on where the devs take it from here. And finally, the coop portion of this review: The Requireds (/5): ☑ 4P (4-Player) ☑ C (Cooperative) ☐ P (PVE) ☐ OW (Open World) [Strictly linear] ☐ C (Campaign) [series of levels] The Optionals ⭐: ☑ Not story heavy ☐ 1st or 3rd person ☐ Length Verdict: --2/5 - Failed-- ⭐
This game is ADORABLE. My fiance and I are always looking for fun co-op games. We love Overcooked and Diner Bros. I was thrilled to find a witch themed game like those. The controls are great, and it's very fun and addicting. My only complaint is that the colors are very similar. I get that this is maybe supposed to be a challenge, but the pink and purples are almost the same color which makes it frustrating. GREAT GAME. Get it, this game is so much more fun than the trailer makes it look.
