Experienced on the Oculus Quest 2
You can view my initial impressions review & gameplay here: https://youtu.be/eN52PlCSs24 A Night with Gigsjaw VR is a Five Nights At Freddy's clone with a possible copyright / trademark infringement for Jigsaw as well. I wouldn't mind if it were a good clone of FNAF, even though we already have the official FNAF VR game. However, this isn't a good clone. It's a low-effort clone that makes the original FNAF look like a masterpiece by comparison and this is coming from someone who didn't like the original FNAF. You have an ugly UI, ugly game, with simple interactions and basic sounds. You basically have big red buttons in front of you and to your left and right, along with a flat 2D black & white screen to view the cameras, [strike]which are actually just still shots versus showing actual animations.[/strike] You close the doors or vent when you see one of the "Gigsjaw" approaching. Your flashlight battery & generator that keeps the power on can also drain though. Game is running on the Unreal Engine. On my RTX 3080, I was getting dropped frame rates from 90 fps, but it wasn't too bad. However, there are no graphical or locomotion settings. Only settings available is to RESET HMD and for choosing difficulty between easy, medium, or hard. I did experience a bug where the game kept running in the background, even after exiting. Also, the game takes a long time to load and looks like it wants to crash (double image & hourglass viewed in HMD). I didn't have fun playing this. I think games like this make VR look bad. If you have a bad game, making it VR doesn't magically make it better. I would say play the original FNAF in pancake as that is a better experience than this. NEW REVIEW: Everything I said in the previous review was fixed and more! This game is a fun enjoyable project to play. The dev completely changed how the game looks and plays with new UI and new assets. A complete overhaul to it, and to say its the same game is just shaming the dev that listened to my feedback and others. I would pick it up as in my eyes its worth the 8 bucks. Couple hours of content for a funny scary game. 5/5 OLD REVIEW: This game is a simple variation of a survival horror resource management-esk game, I wish for more assets and different textures to be implemented in the games updates in the future. I believe this game has a lot of potential to be fun and engaging but needs to be worked on. 3.5/5
My lil heart couldn't take this game man. It's not too difficult but challenging enough to keep coming back to. It's a really great horror game and honestly pretty addicting. I told myself after dying multiple times to the orphan and mostly wardo (he licks your toes btw) that one more game then I'm done. But watching that clock go down and seeing how far I can get each time just makes me want to go back to see if I can survive til the end. I would say for a five dollar game it's really worth it, four different difficulty modes plus messing with the time clock to see how long you can survive makes the game more interesting. One last thing to mention even though you are left there to either survive or die, at least your captor leaves you a cool Gigsjaw cup to make you feel a bit safer from the four murderous creatures.
A Night With Gigsjaw is the most fun i have had with a VR horror game with a mix of funny, You can throw a cup at the bots and there's one with a tiny body and big head lol. there's plenty to do without it being too complex and the tutorial is straightforward and easy to comprehend even someone with half a brain cell can understand. With the game being very early release and plenty of updates i feel it's a perfect game for people who like the FNAF franchise and want something similar. i cannot wait to see what's next from this game and any other projects from the Gigsjaw team
