Note: I purchased the game via another site and redeemed a Steam key for it. ^^
Finding Your Muse

Introduction
A Marble's Muse is a cute, comedical, romantic, albeit with some dramatic and emotional moments, visual novel developed and published by Kristi Jimenez. You take on the role of Clarke, a non-binary marble (yes, a marble XD) who's an artist living on the island of Liliana. Clarke is having artist's block, so they're hoping that finding a muse will inspire them to create art again. As Clarke is going about the city, they meet up with several marbles, such as Lilco (Clarke's best friend who wants to be a star athlete performing at Marble Palooza, a gigantic sporting event) and Tony (a single dad who works at home to support his daughter). Will Clarke be able to find their muse and create art again? Perhaps, along the way, Clarke may find friendship or even romance. ^^ With the gameplay, plenty of choices are presented throughout the story. While early choices determine whether Clarke gets on any particular route (since there is the possibility that Clarke can get an alone ending), later choices determine whether Clarke gets a best, normal, or bad ending. There are a total of 5 individual routes (Lilco, Cotton, Deadlock, Tony, and Echo), and plenty of CGs (unlocked ones can be viewed in the Gallery area on the Main Menu) as well as a full-on soundtrack are available. Also, plenty of Steam achievements are present, but they won't count towards a user's global total until the game is out of "Steam is learning about this game".
Review
A Marble's Muse caught my attention, especially after reading the store page description. After all, marbles falling in love is certainly a new concept. XD Thus, I purchased a copy of the game for myself to satiate my curiosity and to support the developer. Of course, I was immediately drawn to the story, which establishes the setting of Liliana quite nicely. I liked Clarke as the main character, trying to find their inspiration to create art again. Creative types out there have probably encountered this problem at some point, and in Clarke's case, it definitely doesn't help to be weighed down by the memory of their university professor trashing their art because it wasn't up to the professor's standards or it wasn't like that of world-renowned artists. Anyway, I enjoyed reading Clarke's personal journey as they try to find inspiration. Along the way, they meet various characters whom they can befriend and possibly romance. Some routes are more fleshed out than others, such as Lilco's, who has a long history with Clarke and has secretly harbored a crush on them. However, I enjoyed reading all of their routes and getting to discover the characters' backstories. I'm quite conflicted on choosing a favorite route or character since I liked them all, but if I had to choose one, I'd go with Tony since it broke my heart when I found out why he became a single dad and yet, he still works hard to provide a good life for his daughter. Also, there's a puppy on his route, so yeah. XD At any rate, all the routes tie things up nicely, with the best endings resulting in romance and Clarke finding their inspiration, the normal endings being in the middle, and the bad endings being... Well, you can take a good guess although they're nothing too tragic. As for the writing, the pacing is good. I noticed the occasional typo, but they didn't distract me from enjoying the story. With the gameplay, I didn't encounter any major technical issues. I was able to obtain all of the Steam achievements, and I obtained all the CGs, albeit with a bit of help from the developer in getting a particular one. XD With the art, it has this beautiful, cutesy style, which is pretty appropriate, considering the name of this visual novel. The sprites and backgrounds are drawn and colored well. Especially, the CGs are well done, capturing the pivotal story moments well. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3408376083 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3408376181 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3408376257 In regards to the music, the tracks are quite varied, ranging from the more light-hearted tone to the deeper, emotional ones. Like the CGs, the tracks capture those important story moments, and they really help to bring the stories of all the major characters to life.
Conclusion
Overall, would I recommend A Marble's Muse? If you're a visual novel fan who's looking for a cute, comedical, romantic story with some emotional moments, don't mind the occasional touch on sensitive topics (like self-confidence or the death of a loved one), and/or want to obtain Steam achievements, then you should totally give this game a look. It's worth the asking price, and I feel like it's gone under the radar, so I hope that others will give it a try. Also, there's a free demo. ^^
For more detailed, fully complete, high quality reviews like this, please follow The Introverted Gamer, prioritizing heart and soul always. ^^
This game is incredibly cutesy and fun. I couldn't stop laughing at some parts because of how cute the interactions between the characters were. It runs very smoothly, and the developers clearly poured their heart and soul into it. As an artist myself, Clarke's struggle really hit home for me. I've recently been struggling with my artistic skills, so knowing I'm not alone in that really does help. This game made me want to pick up my pencil and book to draw more things, even if it isn't perfect or even if my ideas are rough at the moment. And if you're just looking for a cutesy VN, this game is hella cutesy! It's definitely worth the price and more! (p.s. I personally think Tony is my favourite for his humour and his sweet tooth XD)
Deadlock is my fave 100%
A marble-ous and adorable VN about an artist and their friends with each of their own passions and struggles. There are funny, sad and AWWWWWW-moments. Not-to-forget beautiful CGs.
Loveable and relatable characters, great writing that combines a sense of humor with relatable topics, and a lovely artstyle! I am very invested in the marbleverse and Tony is my husband. We're getting marbe married next month. You're all invited
Note: I received a free copy of this game for my curator, Games for Hopeless Romantics. Games which claim Hatoful Boyfriend as their primary influence are always a hard sell. Hatoful Boyfriend worked in large part for two reasons: first, because it was a genuinely good VN that just happened to be about talking pigeons (well, talking pigeons and Okosan); and second, because when Hatoful Boyfriend was released, the idea of a romance game but the love interests were all birds was genuinely unique. But since then, there's been a glut of games taking Hatoful's basic conceit (romance but it's wacky) and putting their own spin on it: other animals, inanimate objects, the works. So going in I was a bit skeptical of A Marble's Muse, especially since it seems to be referencing a YouTube channel I'm not really familiar with. But I enjoyed the previous game I played by the developer (Fling with a Tiefling), so I was willing to keep an open mind. The plot of the game is that you play as Clarke, an artist going through a terrible bout of artist's block. To try to get past it, they vow to get someone to be their muse for their paintings. Those possible muses are your possible love interests: Lilco, Clarke's jock childhood friend; Cotton, a cheery clerk at the local candy store; Tony, a single father who's a candy shop regular; Deadlock, the singer-guitarist of a band that plays at a downtown dive bar; and Echo, a chuuni girl who moonlights as a ninja. Echo's route is the silliest (as you could guess from those descriptions), but only because of her personality, not because of anything inherent in the setting. The plot does get dramatic sometimes, even in Echo's route, but it never gets as outright dark as Hatoful Boyfriend does. Ultimately, A Marble's Muse is pretty much pure slice of life; it just happens to have an unusual setting. The game does do some worldbuilding to support the fact that all the characters are spheres without limbs, but for the most part it simply ignores anything that would get in the way of the story. Ultimately, this is probably a good thing; it would be really easy for something like this to get so bogged down in "realistic" details that it forgets to tell a half-decent story. Unfortunately, the script is marred a bit by the presence of typos, grammar errors (missing punctuation at the ends of sentences), and other script errors (repeating lines). It's nowhere near the worst I've ever seen, but it's noticeable enough that I was honestly kind of surprised there were two proofreaders listed in the credits. The art is really nice. It's clean and colorful, and there's a lot of it, with every character (including nameless roles such as a cop and an EMT with single-digit numbers of lines) getting their own unique design and sprite. There's also way more CGs than you'd normally find in a VN of this length. That's the upside of having characters without faces or limbs. While I don't think A Marble's Muse quite lives up to the promise of its biggest stated inspiration, I do think it's a good enough read for the price if you want something that's equal parts silly and sincere.
This is a cute little story to read ! i really like it ! and god the fact that is marble is SO great ! i want to see more of them !
I enjoyed this game despite me not getting all of the achievements. I think thanks to this game being comedic, i could forgive some of the cliches in some of the routes. the art is fine for what this is going for. I think the devs could get this verified for the Steamdeck, because i was able to play this on mine well.
