A Mage Reborn

I've played and finished this story 3 times with different choices, I will classify it as average because of the choice the author made regarding the way the story is designed, especially [spoiler] the ending that cannot be changed and your character is doomed from day 1 [/spoiler]. I know this is intentional and that the author thinks the means are more important than the end, but I found it frustrating, as there is no real surprise to hope for after your first reading. 

The ending made me cry

I wanted to like this game. It's mechanically fine, but the time jumps in the story were just way too jarring. The beginning is fine, but then suddenly you're [spoiler] elite guards for a king who you might instigate a rebellion against all in one chapter [/spoiler] ? There's just not enough transitions between the states of the character that makes it feel like you don't make choices. I get it, the author was trying to tell a really epic, sweeping plot with a you're-reminiscing-while-at-your-execution framing. I think you could still tell this story with a little more of a ramp between chapters.

Wow just wow , great novel

Although one certainty to the ending is set right from the start, it is not only what had led to it that was interesting, but the ending is bittersweet and would probably make you cry, even if you’re a grown man who never shed any tears in public (that’s my hint that I did). Hope the sequel will eventually come out and would be of the same quality.
