A Long Journey to an Uncertain End

I want to start this review by saying that even though I got the game for free, I get many free games & this is one of very few that I have played all the way through because it drew me in so strongly. I will be editing this later with a fully fleshed out review but the TL;DR is that you don't want to pass on this game. I laughed, I cried - the story touched me at my core & the characters will be in my heart forever. Not to mention I am so enamored with the art style. This game checks so many of my boxes: Representation of marginalized individuals (BIPOC, queer, trans & characters with various disabilities) Ability to make your character look however you want with no gendered terms in regards to the body shape Well written & emotional dialogue Broaches sensitive topics with grace (& includes a content warning that you can have pop up every time you boot the game!) On top of that its fun to play. Looking forward to what Crispy Creative puts out next!

A Long Journey to an Uncertain End is an adorable sci-fi VN. You are a sentient spaceship who is on the run from an abusive ex, traveling from one system to the next picking up crew and doing odd jobs. Each person you pick up and each job you do gives you a bit more of the backstory, and then at the end you get to pick how the story will close out, cue cutscene and roll credits. It is short, sweet and simple. There is a ticking clock and some degree of resource management, but if you accept everyone onto your crew by the end you'll have no trouble cruising to the finish line with more fuel and resources than you know what to do with. The game has a Carmen Sandiego meets Elite vibe - each planet has its own little animation and color text and some unique missions. Even though you do a bunch of crime, it's all framed as wholesome rogueishness and the game doesn't dwell on any negative consequences so it's super cozy. The characters are diverse and cheerful, which i think is the point. Even your obsessive stalking ex doesn't seem like so bad by the end. The game isn't going to sock you in the feels like a Mass Effect style epic, but sometimes it's enough to just be gays in space saving the galaxy. This game is fun, it's not very serious, I liked it and anyone looking for a light sci-fi adventure probably will too.

comes up very short just boring and tedious it looks very fun but some how they just present everything in the most boring way. like i get wanting to make the chracters quirky but theyre just boring honestly and when they mess things up its annoying doesnt feel like your choices really matter. if i could still refund this i would

Fun, quirky and cool. I backed the kickstarter and like so many games I wish I had more time for this.

I am so pleased to have backed the kickstarter for this. A wonderful story with lovely characters and neat options. I love that visiting different planets and doing jobs there also adds to the wardrobe options. I cleared it on the first playthrough, but it has different dialog options and some replay potential. I would note that the trigger warning on a stalker ex and abuse is very correctly placed. Please treat it seriously if it is a trigger for you.

Prenez ce jeux comme un moment de détente et de réflexion sur le relationnel entre les Être , ainsi qu'une invitation aux voyage à travers l'espace. Enfin ce jeux... Le terme "jeux" ici est plus un support qui raconte une Histoire qu'un réel jeux à mon avis. Mais ça n'engage que moi... J'ai tout de même apprécié le Voyage ainsi que jouer les touristes sur les différentes planètes car ont se laisse emporter facilement dans l'aventure de cette IA qui sert de "Taxi Spatial" à c'est future membres d'équipage.

I originally backed on kickstarter but didn't get around to playing it until now, all in all it is a short but fun game with not much replayablity. I love the artstyle but the character creator/NPC generator meeds some tweaking, lots of gaps between the body parts and accesssories. The resource mangement is pretty easy, casual players will have no trouble. The crew are very fun and unique, would totally read a book with them as characters and I enjoyed talking with them when the events came up. The animations, world design were very charming too, It really feels like a fleshed out world with a lot of unspoken lore. Its only cut down by its short play time. The $35 price tag is steep for what the game is but if you see this for under $10 I really reccommend picking it up.
