Graphics, menus, art design, everything is very crude, in a Paint MS-like level. Controls and platforming are not good, not as solid as I thought it would be. It's like you are sliding in ice sometimes. There's some parts where you need precise jumping skills, and the controls don't help at ALL. Story is convoluted, I think they tried going for something complex but ended up failing. I mean, It's free, there's no reason for you to not give it a try. But I found it to be infuriating at parts, not worth the stress.
Ok, I have to admit: it is hard to judge a free to play game which has an achievement obtained by 2 players over 10 (which is an insanely high percentage) that literally requires you to "finish the game in less than 17 minutes". And yeah, you can finish it actually within twenty minutes. But it's also free, this is always a plus. Anyways, we have a platformer here with horrendous graphics (but since I think a developer alone did all the work it's ok), and with not-so-fast to understand controls and mechanics. It took me some time to get into the game. The graphics aspect though is quite heavy in a bigger evaluation, since its really poor value affects also the menu and all the other parts of the game. For what concerns controls, they too aren't that polished. You'll often need to repeat a single level part without ragequitting. It supports gamepads, but no remapping so no WASD/other configurations, and this sucks for a PC game. Power-ups and bonuses don't add that much, they have little value and they can be easily missed. Your character won't "upgrade" that much". On a sidenote, you can't even save. And for the "exploration" hashtag the game offers in the menu, well, there's nothing great to explore. The story wouldn't be that bad, but really to me it wasn't developed at all. It's like a draft. I don't know, I have read many positive reviews but to me the combination of awful graphics and poor (often very poor and frustrating) controls, especially when jumping and slipping on the floors, kinda forces me to review negatively this game even if it's free. I wouldn't replay it.

A lot of the games design is not justified, sorry developers but from a game-point of view it is just lazy game design and could be portrayed much better if you listened and changed somethings. Been plenty of other "exploration" games which did not hold your hand yet gave better hints on where to go and what to do unlike this game which is like being blind-folded and dumped into a desert. It is not fun and just pads out the game to make it seem longer than it actually is. Don't encourage exploration as your main focus of your game if you die every 2 minutes or on every new screen you go to, this just discourages exploration. Specially when every single floor is covered with butter. Oh and he power-ups can be easily missed so I hope you enjoy having to back-track to an item that blended into the background but you actually needed to learn how to crouch or double jump! + Free + Achievements (- for pain in the ass ones) - Horrible graphics - No sense of direction - Many blind jumps - Cheap deaths - Slow-down in many areas - Very poor design choices - The floor is pretty much ice no matter what terrain it is - Nearly everything kills you (oh joy) - Power-ups are easily missed The graphics look rushed, like a child doodled it up in MS Paint with no care or thought of how the game should look. This makes it horrible to look at and makes me question if I am play-testing a game that is far from finished. Even the chat-boxes are horrible and look like they were slapped up within 10 seconds. The backgrounds don't help either. The character is slippery, is there a reason for it? NO! Every floor is like sliding on ice and you will die very easily, as well as be confused on where to go from the get go because you are never told where to go. It takes around 3-4 energy cores to stop being stuck and the game to actually go anywhere. The "blue doors" are check-points and you need to activate them yourself, you are NEVER told this and you think something important as a check-point would be explained but it is skipped. You will get stuck easily, unless you spam-click every single thing that looks part of the background to then realise you can actually use it. Part from the NPC's, everything looks like it is part of the background, at least do something to make us know we can use it even by making it have a black border. Power-ups which you need to carry on can be missed easily. An example is the first one which maakes you crouch. It is a red mushroom with gold dots. Yes it is the only one but it is small so you can easily go over it and fall down a pit back to the start of the map. Don't you love games where power-ups look like they are part of the environment? Only play it if you like achievements, otherwise don't even bother with it. The story is non-existance and there is no reason to care for the characters. Most of the NPC's can be removed and nothing will change part from the area looking even more bland. The developers have stated they will not change anything except put "non-slippery" controls into an "easy-mode". Otherwise they fail to see the faults of this game. No game is perfect and this is far from it. The fact they refused to change it even in the slightest makes them come off as stubborn. They have a lot to learn about game-design and justifiying the reasons. -inb4 my review my removed by developers for being too harsh-
It's really strange that I like this game. The Controls are frustrating and it doesnt particularly look nice. I got this game because it looked really bad and I wanted to make fun of it, and now I find myself strangly loving this game. I think it was the tone of the game that kept me playing. I'd highly recomend trying it just because of the strange atmosphere the game provides. I mean it's free, what have you got to lose? Personally I can say I enjoyed playing through it and when it ended I was left wanting more, that's just me though.
Really Great Game 9/10
I had fun with it. It doesn't try to hold your hand, there's definitely some challenge to it. Sometimes I felt like the deaths were cheap, but there were plenty of spawn points set up to mitigate that. The developer fixed the issue with feeling like you were skating, so the platforming became much less frustrating. Achievements will take about 15 hours of gameplay to complete.
_____________8__88_____8 ____________88_8__8_____8 ___________888_____88___88888 __________8888______88_8____88 _________8888_______88______8_8 _________8888_______88______8_8 _________8888_______8_______8 _________8888_____8_______8 __________88888____8______8 ___________8888888______8 __888_________88888_8 8888888________88_____ _8888888_______8_____ __888888_______88_____ ___88_____8_____8_____ ____8______8____8_____8_88 _______8888_8__88_8_88888 _____888888_8_88__8888888 ____8888888__88______88888 ____88888_____8_________888 ____88_________8__________8 _____8_________8_____ _______________8_____ ____________8_8_____ _____________88_8_____ ______________88_____ ______________8_____
A Dead World's Dream
A Dead World's Dream,
