A Case of Fraud

A fun little detective game. Clearly heavily inspired by The Roottrees Are Dead, to the point that one could argue it is derivative, though in its defence the way that evidence is acquired is substantially different, with no digging through endless search terms in the hope of finding that tiny nugget of information required to name someone's spouse. Instead, all of the information is handed to you as you fill more names in, though precise details may be hidden in the backgrounds - I particularly enjoyed scouring the text chats, as they had many small details that were easy to pass over the first time. They also did a good job of making finding the names of people at least somewhat challenging - including a certain red herring where two characters had very similar names. The murder mystery case itself is potentially the weakest part of this game, unfortunately. Though there are again a few red herrings, a careful examination will easily clear most of them away. I found myself more concerned about whether the answer could really be so easily determined, but it was - the culprit's plan left a lot to be desired, to say the least. I really liked the idea of having the pet being able to testify as well, but the evidence it provided was far from necessary to solving the case, too, which again was disappointing. I won't say it was useless, but none of the evidence provided was unique to that source, which I would have liked to see. Despite its flaws, I really enjoyed this game and would recommend it to other mystery-lovers, with the caveat that it is quite short. The office politics on display were interestingly toxic, despite the best efforts of some of the staff, and it was fun to solve, even if it wasn't as hard as it could have been. Bravo Hesperus Games, I shall look forward to your next project!

优秀的鲁特里玩法游戏，没有检索环节，证据直接塞给你，一开始给的证据很多会给人目不暇接感，从细枝末节里找八卦的感觉很有意思[spoiler] （解完密码你会发现没有什么重大线索只是纯粹的职场调情） [/spoiler]，难度适当。 最后抓真凶的环节意外的很朴素，还以为会更本格一点。

还可以，逻辑性比较散乱，但是不算太难，有大量无用信息
