A Case of Fraud

Fun, shortish little deduction game inspired by The Roottrees Are Dead. Loved seeing all the little Kiwi references!

I don't know what to think of this game. Taken in isolation it's a fun little puzzle game in the TRaD style (The Roottrees are Dead) that will take you a few hours to finish. Sounds great! The confusing part is that when I said "in the TRaD style" what I actually meant is that it's exactly the same game, with the exact same mechanics, and even the same music! I actually had to go verify that it wasn't the same dev. I love TRaD so I'm not necessarily complaining, but I would have liked to see some innovation. A timeline tool was sorely lacking from TRaD and would have been a great addition here for example. In any case if you liked TRaD (or the Obra Dinn style games in general), you will like this game!

Like Roottrees, which means it's good.

If you compare it with "Roottree". It is like a baby version of the famous "Roottree". Especially when you just completed "Roottree" and play this game. The name/photo matching is quite direct. However, if you try not to compare it with other games, this game itself is fun! I like the art style as well. A little bit short, but you will probably enjoy it!

the whole game is quite interesting, however, i think the evidence is quite messy and we can't reorganized them by following our habit. so the process of reasoning can be hard in sometimes

Only a short game but definitely scratched the Roottrees itch. I spent about 2.5 hours active. Most deductions were straightforward and I would have preferred a little more complexity mixed in, but the logic was satisfying enough. Would be happy to play more mysteries in this model.

比想象中的内容丰富，觉得是值30块的。虽然线索比较直接，但是生啃英文又增添了一些观察文本的难度，使得这个解谜的难度适中，还有一些解密码的环节。虽然填公司架构的地方90%和凶案本身无关，但是也了解到了这个公司里员工们的小故事，显得很有趣，不愧是新西兰公司，好和谐的工作环境。 [spoiler] 一开始对Sam的性别感到模棱两可，发现她就是Samantha的缩写之后，才知道原来Sam和Holly是互相用密码调情表白的百合小情侣，有点好磕之。凶手败给了天眼摄像头，不过他的证词本来就很奇怪，凶案现场只有他和死者，他自导自演的嫌疑肯定是最大的，而且他自述醒来离开的时候隔壁死了个人都没有闻到血腥味吗。不过他行凶前是把piper关进了board room吗，piper不会叫和攻击吗？一开始读材料的是有怀疑过输送利益被发现的ryan，不过欠钱的Ben动机更加明显。 [/spoiler]

A decent enough detective game which will last you a little while, but nothing very complicated or challenging. I was left feeling like the final solution was too simple, and I was really disappointed that the premise of the game-- a startup which claims to be using AI to decode the languages of pets-- was in fact *not* the titular Case of Fraud. It seemed like there would have been so much great story potential if the whole company was a scam, like it honestly sounded, but no. I had fun though.

Still early on in the game - I like that it is challenging, you have to be organized, but if you pay attention you can figure things out pretty definitively.

Short and sweet, not much else to say.
