Had fun. 6.9 of 7.6
Well... that was weird.
Good game, runs great in VR, very well made and clearly a passion project from the dev I haven't gotten very far yet so I'll update this review when I've seen more of what the game has to offer
My favorite part of 8089 is the gameplay loop it provides the player - complete quests for money, use that money to upgrade stats and gear, use your upgraded character to access higher level areas with greater quest rewards, etc... Another thing I enjoy is the ability to fine tune my character through the use of mods - all weapons and armor can be equipped with mods to customize your experience.
Its the next best thing from Phroot! It is the pinnacle of the 3079 series! I have played since the first one and love them all! <3
Once again another fantastic title from phr00t. If you've played any of his other xx89 titles, this is a big improvement in a lot of ways. I'll let you read the comments of the other reviews so far, but the quality on this is higher, it uses a new engine, and has a more varied and interesting weapons sytem than the previous titles as well, which is saying a lot since the previous systems were already quite interesting. Give it a try, it's a procedurally generated RPG that is easy to pick up and put down in between meetings or when you have a spare 30m, which is perfect for someone like myself who no longer has hours to dedicate to gaming.
Played this game for a few hours now and it is simple yet immersive. I certainly recommend you give it a go if you like action RPG like games.
Very fun rpg for vr, with some of the best feeling mechanics and controls even compared to bigger games- definitely worth a pick up
Been a fan of Phr00t's since the 3089 days and was a major fan of 5089 particularly. I played 5089 for days before the release to "prep". Was not entirely sure of what I thought of 8089 on the release date but now hours later I really enjoy the sequel! It is less immediately approachable than in it's predecessor but is much more complex and create's the sandbox nature we all of love if you're reading this. Definitely a BUY from a long time fan
Absolutely fantastic. Completely original gameplay that is addicting and fun. I played 5089 and loved that game as well, this is pretty close to the same thing with updated engine and lighting. There are many many new items since the last game and new mechanics to govern them. Taking over bases is new to the 89 series as well and as a new dynamic that makes things more interesting. The item and gun customization can get pretty complex... as complex as you want it to be making for all kinds of melee and ranged weapons. Examples would be adding a mod to your gun that causes projectiles to home-in, become lob based projectiles, explosive ammo, extra range or higher damage. There is a lot more going on than just that too, these were just a few examples. The customization carries over to all your armor gear as well. You'll want to mod the crap out of those too. Anyhow, great game, worth your time. I'm headed back in to play some more. I just wanted to pop in a good review for the game as I'm really having a good time.
