What can I say about this game that couldn't also be said about every paper I wrote in college? It has a intriguing concept. The creator seems passionate about it. It's not finished. I don't know what to do with this. Stop. Help. First up, things I like! -Art. The hand drawn style is actually kind of fun. The text "SEAGULL"s will haunt my dreams and Twitch chat forever. -Concept. The "7 Ate 9" joke is my kind of dry humor. That's what drew my attention to this game in the first place. Imagining the numbers as detectives searching for evidence of a cannibalistic number 7 is hilarious. I can totally see why the "Sticks and Stones" video from (I'm assuming) the creator on YouTube led to this kind of game. -Charm. This thing oozes charm. It feels exactly what I would expect from a creative, personal approach to gaming. , I am not a game developer. I have very little insight into the inner workings of video game development. BBBUUUUUUUTTTT I spent just under 2 hours on this game and I must say, I wish it were good. I really, REALLY wish I could somehow say it was a perfect execution of the Dev's vision. It just can't be.... -Gameplay Mechanics, Performance, and Stability. I feel like it is impossible to separate these categories for this game. The performance of the basic mechanics of the game is buggy and unreliable. When you pick up the gun, you have 3 guns. Oh, and picking up the gun fires a round from the gun. If you get lucky enough to find ammo and pick it up, you may notice that it didn't add that one bullet at all. Magically picking up 3 items means you have to drop 2 of them, leaving a trail of unusable items at the spawn. Many of the doors are so narrow, the character's sprite can barely fit. Finding out if the gun even damages or impedes the monsters is a mess. If this is the intended gameplay loop, so be it. Even if you decide to go to the settings to see if there are other controls you may be overlooking, like "Pick Up Item", you won't find them. Also, made a quick attempt at using a controller, hoping that perhaps it was optimized for that kind of input. Alas, I was more confused. -Replay? I couldn't even complete a viable portion of the game so replayablity is out. But, there is an Arcade mode. The chase never gets harder and you can just walk back and forth thru the door, artificially inflating high score. Overall, I can't really recommend the game for the gameplay, but I just have to recommend it for the sheer hilarity. We had a blast chasing seagulls and being genuwinely scared of the constant thumping of 7. If you have $3 floating around in your wallet, maybe try this thing?
james olks, youve done it again. great game if you ignore the gameplay entirely. i eagerly await your next work, mr olks.
Creative and challenging, the number seven has never been so terrifying
Rating: Dito: 1.77/5 Chat: 2.11/5 Gesamt: 1.94/5
