10th Corpse
Casual game from 2021. Madame Vinterfragen has discovered an assassination attempt in her own villa! Is this a reenactment of the ancient curse that weighs on the Vinterfragen line? Or was this cold-blooded murder staged by one of the Madame's guests? [Abridged - Editor] There's a crime story with eccentric characters and a lot of text. The texts are also in German. They are understandable, but not well translated. But the automatic translation from simple English to complicated German is notoriously difficult. Someone who is fluent in both languages should act as an editor here. By the way, I like the characters. You are the so-called top detective trusted by Madame Vinterfragen and the only one with the courage and intelligence to solve this mystery. You are the so-called top detective trusted by Madame Vinterfragen and the only one with the courage and intelligence to solve this mystery. This is part of the game and presented in the form of quiz challenges, hidden object puzzles, and hidden object scenes. The hidden object scenes are good, but I don't like the rest of the above at all. Because I don't like hidden object puzzles anyway, and quiz questions are the last thing I want to do. 100 Match-3 levels This is the main part of the game. I've done a few of them and don't find them that exciting, but they're not badly done. Let's get to the point where I finished the game. Solve Arkadiusz's Match and Boxtrap mini-games. You can skip them, but this was the point where I lost interest. Rarely has a game like this left me so unmotivated. Because there's no clear thread motivating me to continue. I prefer games with a single gameplay focus. Due to the mishmash of rather mediocre content, it's a clear failure. This review is, of course, a matter of taste. As we all know, everyone has their own opinions and preferences.
10th Corpse
Oh wow, just NO to this one! I'm pretty sure that I got this in a bundle. Thank goodness for that. At best this game is worth 99 cents. And even for that, it's so lame and boring (and mind numbingly repetitious), that I doubt most people would care to complete it. I certainly didn't. After 5.3 hours, I just uninstalled it and added it to my category: "Games That I'll Never Complete". Heck, I stuck with it for 1.3 hours too long. IF it had achievements I might've suffered through the tedium. I've completed some pretty awful games just to 100% them. But seriously, this game has nothing to recommend it. A BIG THUMBS DOWN!
Puzzle game + layout - nothing new = A decent match 3 game with 100 levels. Play match 3, HOG, tile and tetris puzzles. Answer questions correctly to get bonuses.
Follow our curator for similar games
Surprisingly playable!
If you like your Match-3 games to come with a story and some variety, this just might be for you. You play a detective sent to investigate a case where people linked to the Vinterfragen family have mysteriously died over the ages, supposedly the work of some curse. Through the course of your investigation, you play your way through a slew of match-3 puzzles, hidden object games, tetris-like colour matches, block-fitting puzzles, & trivia quizzes. The story is worked quite well into the puzzles, and there is even a final boss match-3 battle where you do have to strategise to win. Yes, the story is somewhat campy and silly, but it did entertain! And the mixture of game types helped break the tedium of endless match-3 mode. I wouldn't say the HOGs were the best - there were a few occasions where there was more than one "vase" or "shirt" in the scene so you had no idea which one the game was asking for, and several items were unidentifiable or badly hidden, but the HOG styles were varied too: there were cartoon illustration-type scenes and also painting-style scenes, which matched what the story was talking about at that point. The trivia quizzes were fun and involved a variety of topics ranging from geography to literature to chemistry (and more) - all general knowledge and nothing a reasonably well-read individual should have to google (I got them all correct). The tetris-like game and block-fitting game were not bad at all and were a much welcome break from the other game types. I think the game succeeded well in mixing things up so the player wouldn't get bored. The match-3 puzzles themselves were acceptable, though not without flaws. For instance, the power-ups were never explained, and I ended up wasting quite a few of them because I didn't know they couldn't be used to counter certain tiles (e.g. "get rid of single shape" doesn't eliminate cloudy tiles nor deactivate traps, although it still consumes your power-up when you use it on said squares!). Progression is also wishy-washy, with some later puzzles being easier than some earlier ones. Some puzzles were also extremely luck-dependent, so you really couldn't do much if the game refused to produce the gems you wanted. For each match-3 puzzle you can earn up to 3 stars: 1 star for completing the puzzle, another for doing it within the specified number of moves, and a final star for not using any power-ups. Some puzzles were extremely tedious and not very smart (e.g. you can move some tiles to wherever you want, using certain tiles, so that literally solves all your problems), but maybe the devs didn't want to make the game too difficult for fear of putting off casual gamers. If you're looking for something not too taxing on the brain (but which still requires a minimal degree of thinking), this game is it. I would be lying if I said I didn't have fun playing this from start to finish. I completed it in one sitting (with breaks in between) - it was that compelling (for me at least!). I think a lot of things were done right, including the music, which I actually enjoyed and thought was suitable. It's definitely worth a play if you can get it at a low price.
10th Corpse is a mobile app that's been dumped on Steam by serial offenders, HH-Games. This is a basic match-3 puzzle game, the kind you can play for free or on mobile. Quality is mediocre, resolution is locked and like most mobile trash, there's no graphics tweaks or anything, so you have to put up with the mobile app as it is. A special note about this, the game features the likeness of TV's Dylan McDermott, famous for TV shows like Law & Order, but this is a completely unauthorised use of this individuals likeness, so we can certainly hope that HH-Games will be sued to oblivion. While the game is no longer available on mobile, HH Games have a repeat, serially offending history of trying to scam PC gamers. They want $6 USD for what's essentially a free mobile app! Mobile devs must learn PC gamers are not here to be gouged, and can't be expected to pay a premium for a free mobile app just because it's been lazily dumped on Steam. This is unacceptable disrespect for PC gamers. I didn't spend thousands building a gaming PC so I could pretend it's an iPhone. If you do want to play a Match-3 game like this, most of HH-Games's mobile apps are free on app stores. There's simply no justification for paying them for a mobile app on Steam.
For other game reviews, please follow us at What The Game?
As a detective selected to investigate a potential upcoming murder, you come to a mansion ready to solve the case. Upon your arrival, you are met with several people who could be potential suspects that you must keep an eye on. Of course quite rapidly you learn that there is much more to this house than it would appear. The house's odd connection to puzzles is how this game really incorporates the games into the story. With every step of your investigation of a mysterious letter, you will have to solve puzzles of varied styles to move forward. You will be put in charge of solving match 3, hidden object, tile matching and Dr Mario styled puzzles from several different characters all with different purposes of solving said puzzles. Although the game's story feels more like an elaborate excuse to make you do puzzles, which is fine it also serves as a source of light comedy. The story line in 10th Corpse does not take itself serious hardly at all. The characters and purposes here are very silly, but also the story at times seems to be very serious. Admittedly, this roller coaster ride of ups and downs with the story makes it feel very odd and almost like it doesn't know what it wants to do at times. Setting out to have the player do puzzles is the ultimate goal here, and the game does well at that. There are also no shortage of puzzles here. I would say the average player should have hours worth of content to move through with this game, so you are going to get your money's worth. I do have fun playing 10th Corpse, but there is one issue I do have. When I play the puzzles, I do not have a sense of satisfaction once it is completed due to there seeming to be no real way to lose. If losing a puzzle is possible then the game is insanely generous with how difficult the game is to actually lose at. Personally, I would like it much better if you had some stipulation on success. Setting a high score is the only real satisfaction you get for the puzzles, so if you're okay with that 10th Corpse is a game you'll love. Ultimately, I did enjoy the game a lot, I would just like it to fight back a little. If you're a puzzle game lover, you will enjoy this experience and with the level of content, you won't feel ripped off.
