I'm reviewing games in alphabetical order and you can watch my review here: https://youtu.be/8vGzRhC-sGE Prefer to read? 0rbitalis is a puzzle game about sending satellites into orbit around various celestial objects. Mechanically the game works well enough, and there is a decent variety of mechanics at play. However, it lacks any sense of real progression or player skill, largely due to a lot of trial and error, and poor goal choice. In my opinion, tying the high-scores to orbit duration was a terrible decision, as once a stable orbit is found it becomes a matter of "who can leave their game running for the longest". Level design is generally good, however many levels and menus suffer from framerate issues, and the graphics quality settings have no indication of high vs low settings. But more to the point: How is this game lagging with a 3080Ti?? What did you do to it?? Oh, and the music is... not great. Which is a shame, as doseone made much, much better music for Enter The Gungeon. Tl;dr, a puzzle game with an interesting premise, but poor execution. Might be worth a look on sale.
The mouse simulates the trajectory, loads the developer's calculation formula, and runs out the calculation results. Don’t know if the author made this game while learning to calculate the movement of orbitalis. There are many levels and they are well designed. Some levels are quite difficult and it is not easy to push through. In addition to observing the operating rules, I can only rely on luck. There are hard-work, hidden levels, DLC, workshops, achievements, rankings, cards, the mini-game is quite complete.
Starts out fairly simple, gets more complex than I can really deal with. Mostly I'd just take a random stab, see what happens, then adjust slightly. I didn't really feel like I was doing any calculations in my head or any actual puzzle solving. I'm still giving it a thumbs up since it's a good version of what it is.
Not a puzzle game - closer to a pachinko machine. You have no control and consistency other than firing at the start, and making small adjustments every restart. Until the randomized levels show up, then it's pretty much all chance. The first few sectors / 30 minutes are ok but would be better with fine controls beyond "bullet time".
Kinda fun to begin with, but quickly becomes a trial-and-error click-and-hope slog rather than requiring any real understanding of the physics.
I got bored with it rather quickly. The game might have some interesting ideas but sorry, for some reason I can't force myself to play it longer than the beggining.
I love the concept of the game, and the aesthetics, so I really wanted to like it and enjoy it. However, I did not end up enjoying this game, and ended up refunding it (which is why Steam shows it as me receiving it for free) 1. The game runs terribly on my setup, which has a 1440p 144 Hz monitor. The game feels incredibly choppy on a setup like this, and I don't seem to be the only one experiencing this issue, with no solution in sight. Since this game is 5 years old by now, I don't expect an update to fix this. 2. Even in "bullet time" mode, it's really difficult to chart out an orbit, because everything is a moving target and moving very quickly. Planning out an orbit becomes more of a frustration in trial and error, and there's no obvious way to me to make incremental improvements on a solution. Solving a level therefore is more about just managing to hit a good trajectory through luck, as opposed to any actual reasoning or incremental improvement.
I recommend it if you get it on sale. It's a good game that has several levels with different elements. Visually is not that great, but it's ok if you focus on gameplay
2D dynamic spatial puzzle game. From a point in a star system, launch an object that will orbit the star for a minimum amount of time without colliding with any other orbiting objects or the star or escaping the star system. The star and the orbiting bodies all have their gravitational effects on your object. Use the mouse to determine the magnitude and direction of the launch; a guiding line will predict at least a piece of your path. Lots of trial and error in figuring out what you're supposed to do, and more in getting a feel for how to do it. I liked it, but I think it might be a small-doses game for me, and I'm happy I got it in a HB.
I like the game but am very frustrated by the overly loud volume of the game and no ability to turn down the volume in the game itself. If you can get past that get the game, otherwise, like me, don't play it.
