Great linear popcorn game with turning your brain off, if take it seriously, the plot can not survive a second thought. All I see is just a rookie keeps screwing up and scrambling to fix it. That's not character development — that's just disastrous storytelling. But if you don't overthink it, it's genuinely fun. And that's exactly what a popcorn game is supposed to be.

First Light is a game with a pure Bond heart and soul, with great characters, cut scenes, story, and homages to all that is Bond, wrapped around a gameplay loop that is sometimes smooth, but can be often times infuriatingly stop-starty in the action instead. It's a shame because this creates a frustrating emotional disconnect whilst playing. It’s like a luxury car with a gearbox that stalls every time you accelerate — but you keep driving it anyway because the interior is gorgeous, the engine is powerful, and the ride is beautiful… until it isn’t. The truth is, the game is brilliant where it’s brilliant, and jarringly flawed where it’s flawed. You’ll get through it — because the Bond highs are definitely worth it — but it should never have been a game with frustrating moments you felt you had to “get through” in the first place. And it was so close. A few gameplay tweaks and it could have been that - but it isn't. You will enjoy parts, and you will be heavily frustrated by other parts that may make you want to stop playing. But I'd still recommend it. Overall, it's great for the Bond brand, and aside from a few gameplay ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, Bond fans will love what they've done here.
