Experienced on the Meta Quest 2
You can view my initial impressions & gameplay here: https://youtu.be/nNNf4fPB050 Are you a YouTube meme content creator? Is PewDiePie your hero? Then I can truly recommend this game for you. Otherwise, I would pass on this horribly made game. You basically explode ugly looking animal 3D models with your bow & arrow explosive arrows for the LOLs in several maps. Game runs horribly. It's buggy as well. Want to know more? 👑 Powered by HoI 4 Deu Curators group in German / English 👑

Follow Main group
Follow Second group
English: ----------------------------> ZOSU VR Explosive Bow Hunting is supposed to be a hunting game with explosive arrows. In a way it is, but only in a way. At the beginning we stand in a huge lobby, where we can choose from 14 levels where we want to shoot the funny Steiff figures in pieces. The animals do not move. Depending on the level, we can either run or climb or use jets. The jets and also the bow are lying around somewhere in the level start, arrows are infinite. Crappy graphics in different scenarios can be admired. ZOSU VR Explosive Bow Hunting is an Early Access paid VR archery game. It worked on my HTC Vive and Index system, looked ok, played ok, sounded ok. The bow and arrow physics looked ok. Maybe buy this on sale, if you like archery games. I got a free key for this from the Steam Curator program. ViVE VR curator group
I think this game is in a great state for early access,, I played this using an OculusQuest2 hardwired into my PC. I enjoyed running around making animals go BOOM! and the climbing trees, the arrows work great. The game seemed to run good on default setting,, it was quite beautiful and serene even on those settings. I recommend it to anyone wanting to checkout something fresh, plus there was some other nice looking stuff I saw in this game
Lack of petting is a missed opportunity!
I got the key for the game off twitter, where the author posted it for grabs. This game looks like a learning project of someone exploring either game engines or learning on how to make VR games. The graphics are probably assets bought for cheap on some asset store, but do work surprisingly well in VR despite their low quality.
Animals are friendly!
I don't see a reason to shoot them. Feelsbadman. Simply put these animals are somewhat cute despite their low-polyness. They are missing animal sounds though, which could be interesting for e.g. the animation of the wolf growling. I know they're supposed to be the body-snatching aliens in the lore, but come on! Let me at least pet the dog and the big cats in the menu ! :D Oh, and add a collision model. It feels weird that they don't have physical presence in the world. I know I know, aliens, holograms, etc. Plus having a body would allow for petting, yay!
Levels
The levels also do have a nice feel to them. You can climb things, although the mechanics of that is really clunky and good luck getting on top of things to end the climb. Foliage is quite dense, trees are high and the levels are sizeable. You can also climb really high. Invisible walls are present though, and you can use them for climbing too. A bit buggy. I also found a directional source of music on one of the isles, it was interesting - it could be a nice gameloop to follow the sound to find something interesting.
Shooting
The shooting is a bit innovative here because you need to release grab to shoot, something which is usually handled by trigger press. It's weird at first but after a few tries feels natural. The arrow flight however, feels weird. Too strong and too dependent on the angle. Overall the bow shooting is workable but nothing to write home about. Arrows stay on the ground and you can pick them up, something weird for "exploding" arrows. In theory you could exploit the engine and drop enough arrows to crash it, but I never bothered to do that. Oh, and the bow grab needs work - it ends with the bowstring right through my hand and the angle it's being held at is unnatural - this hampers aiming.
Performance
Game reprojects like crazy on an RTX 3080 and i7-9700k. Not great, but completely playable if you already have your "VR legs". But this type of graphics should run in 144fps on the Index on this configuration.
Conclusion
It seems it's a learning project. It was probably thrown together in some game engine, but the decision to put it on steam, even in early access was premature in my opinion. This game needs a lot of work still, but... I see some distant potential here. I would get rid of the shooting altogether and make this a petting zoo where you must find and pet all the animals on the island. It would be a nice family title for those brave (or foolish) enough to put their small children in VR. And the levels have something nice to them. But in the current state I cannot recommend it, unless it's made free to play.
The idea is nice but too many mechanics are missing to be able to judge it properly. Animals don't attack, they don't do anything at all. Since it's a hunting game, it would be nice to have stealth mechanics to get close to animals to kill or capture them. It would be good to include the possibility of placing traps. The climbing mechanic is too basic and sometimes doesn't work. The hands enter the walls and any other element present in the environment. The graphic quality of the models, not only of the animals but of everything else (structures, cars, etc) is too low, the textures are very grainy and the wooded areas are full of 2D sprites, like grass, leaves, flowers, etc. The mechanics of the bow, on the other hand, are excellent, the trajectory, the aiming precision. It would be interesting to have goals to achieve to unlock new bow and arrow types. There are many maps, about 12 at the moment, all very large and rich in elements and details, in some with really too thick vegetation so as not to be able to see the animals before having bumped into them and often the map crashes and returns to spawn point. In some points of some maps it happens to fall inside the map and after a long fall it returns to the spawn point. The developers have gone to the trouble of creating a game pseudo lore or "story" according to which the animals to be hunted are "aliens from outer space who have taken the form of animals to attack the Earth" and when hit they explode in in a "cartoonish" or cartoonish way but it is clear that it is a ploy to keep animal rights activists at bay, who would attack the developers for having created a game in which animals are killed (as if it were true) and above all to justify the bad way which animals fall apart when hit. They look like puzzles falling to the ground and falling apart. It is an early access yet to be finished but at the moment I do not recommend it. It is an experimental work, I would say, a prototype. I hope the developers give me good reasons to change this review to a positive one.
Disclaimer: I've received this game for free via Curator Connect. Bad VR game with non existent gameplay loop, but surprising amount of effort put by the developer into some of its parts. Main part - hunting with a bow - is terrible. Animals are poorly animated, have no AI and completely ignore the player. Bow handling is ok (except for the lack of haptic feedback for bowstring draw), but arrows pass throw objects, making it not fun to shoot. It could have been a decent exploration game like Nature Treks VR: visuals are not too bad and the engine can handle huge amounts of foliage and giant dynamic skyboxes. But the environments are poorly designed: everything is very cluttered with plants, there are animals put at random places, buildings look bland. Judging by the number of levels and updates the game had, there was a lot of effort put into it. But for now it looks and plays more like a sandbox for the developer to try stuff, rather than a finished commercial product. Works on Reverb G2
