Original Soundtrack by the Amazing Shawn Lee made specifically for Zombie Playground. Hot!! We were lucky enough to collaborate with Shawn in order to bring some sweet funky beats, crossed with an 80's style retro feel, to Zombie Playground. Some of Shawn's other credits include Bully, Tales from the Borderlands, and Sleeping Dogs.
Keyboard (or Controller) Breakdown: Be sure to check out the keyboard commands refresher, it will help you understand how to play the game better, complete with detailed descriptions of combos, finishers, and abilities. You can find it on our home page forums.

Boring, buggy, unsatisfying and abandoned both by the developers and the players. While there is noone playing online anymore there is still a singleplayer "campaign" you can play which took me about 3 hours to beat in total. It is really not good. A lot of times I found it quite hard to figure out where I had to go next and the fact that if you die 3 seconds before you finish the level you have to replay the whole thing again is just infuriating. Especially since there is a level that took me almost an hour to do (luckily 1st try or I would have probably ragequitted the game forever) in which I almost died to boredom killing the 500 or so zombies you need to kill before the worlds most buggy boss spawns. With some more work and polish it might have actually turned out decent, but the devs decided to abandon it instead. Works without issue with Proton (7.0-3).
the basic gameplay is fun and I'm a big fan of the art style and setting, but this feels like an unfinished demo more than anything, and the game itself has been abandoned for about 5 years now so I feel safe in assuming this is all we're getting. It's ok so if you can get it for like $1 or something in a sale i would maybe recommend it if you're interested, but it is absolutely not worth any more than that
Playable but don't expect much. It have some redeeming qualities like nice cartoony visuals. Sounds are ok. Some missions include running around the school and finding some items or just good old zombie smashing. There's some forgettable story that might be enjoyable. During gameplay I encountered some minor bugs but nothing game breaking. Play it if you are craving for some Halloween games.
Devs absent for almost 3 years (if not more). Valve should pull this dead game from the shelf.
I check in about once a year to see if theres any updates, and there never are. I loved the artwork the game is based off of and the promise of what it could have been, but sadly none of that panned out and its abandonware at this point and not worth your time or money.
Let's just say that I feel sorry for everyone on that absurdly long list who backed this atrocious game on Kickstarter.
I bought this game back in 2016 when it was still being worked on and it had bugs like picnics have ants. But, you know, early times and my pc then was not the best. Then I got curious and nostalgic so I reinstalled it in a MUCH better pc and well... it's picnic time again and the game is serving crap sandwiches. *Deep sigh* For the record- I don't like zombies anything. I like cutesy relaxing games, or puzzle games. I don't like horror... I'm sort of ok with spooky as long as it is not gross. And I'm terrible at shooting games, mostly I become a package delivery / escort session. So my "play with friends" game list is rather limited. This makes me sad and lonely (someone please hold me.) xD When I saw Zombie Playground on 2016 I was thrilled. These were not scary zombies. These were spooky quasi cute zombies I could wail on like rural mailboxes in movies. But no, every game session I start, every game session, I can't go two missions before the game becomes unplayable. There's unexpected unrequested teleporting. Or my character mysteriously runs backwards until stuck in some corner and is completely unresponsive to key strokes, controller commands, army-learned cuss words, or goat sacrifices. And let me tell you about multiplayer- it has the aforementioned issues and more. It serves you extra copies of your fellow players, invisible zombies, zombies that can get you from a different room, and the occasional unkillable zombie ("Try and finish that mission, mwahaha." says the game.) So, not good. Which is a real shame. I was all set to play the living daylights out of this game and get family and friends involved, even if I had to buy them copies myself. I wanna dance... ehr, I mean play with somebody!!! You broke my heart game, you broke my heart. But remember, revenge is a dish best served cold. :P
I truly can't recommend such garbage. Such game is simply a bad experience. Although, it could've been a good one. If only the developers tackled it better. Here's a story of why this game is bad: It was originally just on the kickstarter. There it raised $167,590, That is a ton. Shortly after that, it was put on Steam. It was quite promising for early access. They did some updates and then poof. No more updates.. abandoned project. On the 16th October 2017 it just died. So yeah, game is still unfinished sadly. And: It will probably never be finished. So yeah, that is why I didn't enjoy this. And It's also why I can't recommend it.
GOOD

Great Concept “Goonies meets Stranger Things meets The Walking Dead”—on paper, that’s gold. Childhood adventure colliding with zombie horror should’ve been a recipe for nostalgic multiplayer mayhem.

BAD

Completely Unfinished This feels less like an early access project and more like someone rage-quit development halfway through. The game is barely playable, with core features (like solo play) missing or broken.
Utter Developer Abandonment The devs ghosted their own Kickstarter success, leaving $167,590 and a years-long wait to rot. No updates. No fixes. No support. At this point, “abandonware” is generous.

FINAL THOUGHTS
I backed Zombie Playground at launch, hoping for a childhood fantasy turned undead nightmare. What we got isn’t just disappointing—it’s insulting. Three years, six figures in funding, and the finished product is a broken, busted mess best left buried. Skip this game. It was dead on day one, and the only playground you’ll find here is full of shattered promises and broken dreams.
